Banawe

It may not be as popular as Maginhawa, but Banawe Street in Quezon City is certainly growing to be a foodie haven. Dubbed the “Chinatown of Quezon City,” the street is home to some of the best Chinese restaurants in the Metro.

Lam Tin Teahouse is a local favorite, gathering fans as far away as the south of the Metro. The food here is cheap but extremely satisfying, having classic offerings like lemon chicken, beef broccoli and yang chow fried rice. Make the effort to come early, as there’s always a line even if it’s way past lunch time.

The Banawe area is also a place where you can curb your siomai and siopao cravings. Check out Causeway Restaurant for some great asado siopao and shrimp hakaw. Watch out for their 50% off promo on dimsum every time the clock hits 9:00 PM.

While some are loyal to Causeway, there are those who swear by King Chef Dimsum Kitchen. Not only do they have a wide variety of dimsum, they also have numerous entrees to choose from. Much like Causeway, they also have a 50% off sale on dimsum, but this time between 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and between 9:00 PM – 12:00 AM.

While it’s so much easier to travel to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan nowadays, you don’t need to book a plane ticket to get authentic food from these places — all you really need to do is head over to Banawe.

There’s Eat Fresh Famous Hong Kong Street Food, where you can have all the fishballs that you could possibly want. Bugis Singapore Street Food is perfect for your chicken satay and laksa cravings. And there’s Fei Wei Wee if you’re hoping that there’s more to Taiwanese food than just peppered pork chops and milk tea.

But Banawe isn’t just limited to Chinese food. There’s Buffalo Wings N’ Things for those hoping to get their chicken wings fix. If you’re up to it, make sure to try out their Firehouse Classic, the hottest wings sauce on their menu.

There are a few lechon (roast pig) places here too. Try out Elar’s Lechon for lechon that’s crispy on the outside but still tender and moist on the inside. You can even get it in sisig and dinuguan forms.

If you’re looking to check out a new place to eat or just want to satisfy your Chinese food cravings, look no further than Banawe Street. Just make sure to come with an empty stomach.
