BF Homes

There’s a saying among those living in the North of Metro Manila that you shouldn’t date anyone from the South. Aside from spending money on gas and toll, you’ll also probably spend a significant amount of time arguing with your partner about which area has the best food. Although the North has established itself as the place to eat, thanks to areas like Maginhawa and Kapitolyo, the South is slowly catching up with places like Salcedo in Makati and BF Homes in Parañaque.

BF Homes’ Aguirre Avenue in particular is full of popular restaurants like The Girl + The Bull, whose menu changes constantly depending on the whims of the head chef and Sensei Sushi, which provides its customers with a unique twist on Japanese food.

For those who get the midnight munchies, Aguirre Avenue is also home to Dusadee Thai, a 24/7 restaurant that serves up cheap authentic Thai cuisine. Where else are you going to get a bagoong rice meal for less than P100 at 2:00 AM?

Aguirre is also a well-known dessert hub. Check out Larcy’s Cupcakery for their frozen hot chocolate as well as their cupcakes or Bucky’s Counter for some flourless brownies. And if you’re from the North and need something to keep you awake on the long drive back home, grab some caffeine from Magnus Opus Fine Coffee.

The subdivision is home to a large Korean immigrant population so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the best places to get authentic bibimbap, bulgogi and japchae. Check out either Sam Won Garden or Jang Ga Nae, both found on Aguirre Avenue.

Ask those from the area where their family usually has lunch and they’ll mention Tito Chef, a long time institution on Presidents Avenue. Although its menu tends to get mixed reviews, many attest to the tomato fondue soup as being one of the restaurant’s best dishes.

Another institution on Presidents Avenue is Toho Restaurant Antigua, a Chinese place that consistently serves good food at affordable prices.

Interestingly enough, BF Homes is also where many of the more popular restaurants in the North got their start. Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen for example, which just opened a branch at UP Town Center in Quezon City, had its origins in BF Homes. If you’re in the area, check out the branch that made them famous and make sure to try their Truffle Mac & Cheese, which is simply to die for.
