Capas

Once upon a time, this city was the destination of over 75,000 American and Filipino soldiers after a 66 kilometer march from Bataan. This march has been known historically as the Bataan Death March. After more than 70 years later, Capas still bears this memory in mind and continues to honor the sacrifices of these veterans.

The town, being the most urbanized and also the richest municipality in the province is home to the Capas National Shrine to commemorate the lives lost during that fateful day. Despite the horror inflicted during this time, without forgetting, the municipality has thrived through the years and opened its doors to several possibilities. Today, located in Capas is a War Museum containing relics from during the war.

Aside from the shrine, the town is home to dozens of natural attractions including Mt. Pinatubo, that tourists just can’t seem to get enough of! Informally dubbed as the Tourism Capital of Tarlac, it banks on its different outdoor-based attractions.

Known famously as the Mt. Pinatubo Trek, hundreds upon hundreds of mountaineers from all over the country and even the world, travel to Capas to trek the grand Mt. Pinatubo. A secret hideaway to visit is also Mt. Bueno where the Bueno hot springs is located. It’s poised to be an activity for those who want something to keep them at ease and relaxed.

Besides that, if you’d much rather want to totally slow down, go to Asia Golf and Spa. Have yourself a pampering after an entire day of walking and remembering our painful past, or you know, a long and slow game of golf.
