Cavinti

Found in the famous Sierra Madre mountain range, Cavinti, Laguna is waiting for you. This small municipality made up of a little over 20,800 people has more to offer than rolling hills and fresh air. This town also has several other natural attractions that would blow any nature freak’s mind. Since it’s located at the foot of the mountain range, Cavinti is located well above high ground, and has a cool climate, comparable to Baguio or Tagaytay. Seriously, Cavinti is one of the country’s most unexplored and undiscovered gems.

They have their very own underground river in Cavinti, which still remains to be one of the country’s hidden treasures, despite not being as big as the one in Puerto Princesa. Hard hats are required before exploring this cave and don’t forget to bring your cameras! Of course, be ready to get splashed by the natural springs that flow from the mountains. It’s ice-cold so better condition your brain before the tour begins.

Other than that, they have man made reservoirs that they are proud of. The reservoirs were built in the 1990’s by American engineers and now they’ve become hotspots for water sports. These two reservoirs are called the Lumot Lake and the Caliraya Lake. You can do just about anything in these waters, from kayaking to kite-boarding, to even dragon boat racing!

Fun fact, these two lakes were even the venue for a Watersports Festival.

In the heart of Cavinti, there is a Japanese garden built in honor of the fallen Japanese soldiers during the Second World War. The Japanese Garden is perfect for photoshoots. Other than that, Cavinti boasts of the Pueblo El Salvador Cavinti Nature’s Park & Picnic Grove. To those who want to go on an afternoon picnic, the lush green grass is the perfect place to set up your mats and arrange your picnic baskets. Also perfect for romantic strolls or photoshoots, this grove is more than ideal.

Cavinti has many more places for you to discover. That includes several falls, the Nakulo Falls, Bakayan Falls, and Bumbungan Twin Falls. These waterfalls have been maintained and is still shrouded by forestry and wildlife. If you’re up for being one with nature, Cavinti is exactly the place for you.

The town continues to be low key despite having all these wonders to brag about. Cavinti is the perfect destination if you just want to relax and enjoy what it has to offer.
