Iriga

Iriga is a city in the Camarines Sur province, in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. Hailed as the City of Crystal Clear Springs, Iriga is home to over 30 hot springs and subsequently, several resorts, such as Masosu Spring Resort in the barrio of San Isidro, and Ybalon Resort in the barrio of San Juan.

Hot springs are not the only natural wonder in the city. Mount Asog, also known as Mount Iriga, is a landmark, as well as a popular hiking area, due to its multiple peaks and proximity to the famous Mount Mayon. The city also has waterfalls like the Itbog, Sabang and Tubigan Falls. However, be prepared to do some trekking to get to these falls.

There are historical, centuries-old churches in the city as well, such as the Inorogan Chapel and Saint Anthony de Padua Parish. Another popular place for historical sightseeing would be the Philtranco Transport Heritage Museum in San Nicolas. The museum was built by the country’s oldest transportation company to commemorate their achievements.

The town of Buhi is famous for its lake. Lake Buhi is a renowned source of the sinarapan, or the dwarf pygmy goby, the world’s smallest commercial fish.
