The largest municipality in the province of Biliran, the beautiful Naval is welcoming to everyone who wishes to visit. Naval is still relatively small with only close to 49,000 people calling the island their home. Naval is also the province’s capital town and houses many of the popular destinations that people want to see. It is also the gateway to the rest of Biliran Island.
From Naval Port, just hop on the next boat and go on a short trip to the Higatangan Island where you can experience the white beaches and pristine waters the small island of Biliran is famous for.
Naval is also home to the Biliran Mini-Zoo, home of the tiger and lion hybrid, the liger. With only about 80 of this hybrid in the world, it would be such as sight to see this wondrous beast right in the country! Also among the animals in the Mini-Zoo is the half a century old snapping turtle. Other animals reside in the zoo as well. And the best part is the Biliran Mini-Zoo is absolutely free of charge, just make sure to inform the tourism office.
Other fun things to do in Naval is to buy pasalubong (souvenir) for your friends! The best place to go is the Naval Market where they sell the famous Suman Balintawak where you have the choice to have the sticky rice covered with mangoes or chocolate. This sweet dessert is an innovation from the traditional suman or sticky rice.
Naval is a hidden paradise in Visayas and you should start your trip to Biliran at Naval and maximize what time you have on the island!
