Legend has it, a long time ago, when the Spanish colonizers still ruled the lands of the Philippines, a desperate old man, betrothed her young maiden daughter to a Spanish officer. Devastated by this news and terribly horrified by this betrayal, the young maiden named Violeta, committed suicide. Upon seeing her cold, lifeless body, the over saddened officer cried out, “Madre de dios! No violeta! Oh no, Violeta!” This was engraved on the collective memory of the townsfolk and that’s where Noveleta was birthed from.
