Pagbilao

The Philippines just seems to never run out of places you can visit. Pagbilao, a small town in the province of Quezon, is only now being discovered by tourists and visitors from all over the country. This first class municipality that was named after their specialties, papag and bilao, is now known by many for its marvelous white-sand islands. Papag and bilao in English translates to, bamboo beds and flat, round, and bamboo-woven winnowers. These are often used to hold grain or other food products. The people of Pagbilao even celebrate the Bilao Festival annually wherein they utilize these winnowers as props and for other festivities.

The town is perfect for everyone from all walks of life. Situated in Pagbilao, the Borawan Island is one of the top tourist destinations in the province. The island was named after the most famous islands in the Philippines, Boracay and Palawan. It is a combination of both, Borawan is home to crystal clear waters and powdery sand like Boracay’s and limestone-like rock formations, similar to that of Palawan.

Another popular place to go to is the Puting Buhangin Island, which is still relatively unexplored. What sets it apart from Borawan is that it is home to the Kwebang Lampas, a cave that has an entrance on both sides. This natural formation has been a popular destination for thrill-seekers who want to explore what this cave hides.

This tunnel-like cave is particularly interesting because in one end of the cave, the water is ice cold, while on the other, the water is warm. It’s the best of both worlds. However, the town is not only for island-hoppers and beach bums.

Foodies and animal-lovers are welcome to go to the Silangang Nayon Resort where a zoo and a floating restaurant awaits. The resort’s zoo is home to several species of animals housed in natural and safe conditions. On the other hand, the restaurant gets packed every now and then, which gives you an idea of how good the food is there.

And if you’re willing to go on a little adventure, go to one of Quezon’s hidden treasures. The Hinguiwin Falls is truly breathtaking and the water is just the right temperature of cold. Hearing the rush of the water will tempt you to jump right in.

Pagbilao is underrated, considering all of the places and destinations it has to offer. Better for you to go ahead and explore it now before it loses its magic.
