Palauig, Zambales, a small town with only a little over 30,000 inhabitants, is home to the coveted Scarborough Shoal. This little municipality in Luzon, famous for its beautiful Magalawa Island, has become one of the highly popular tourist destinations for young backpackers from all over the country. Blue skies, even bluer waters, and white stretches of sand? What more can a beach bum ask for? Take a dip in the sea and marvel at the colorful species of marine life. Palauig is no stranger to beautiful scenery.
You can also do other things on the island aside from relaxing on the beach; you can also play volleyball, go snorkeling, or take pictures of the scenery. Also, a warning, the ocean is abundant with jellyfish, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled when swimming!
Explore this beautiful town and have the entire beach to yourself. With only a few visitors at a time, you don’t have to worry about crowding at the beach or noisy neighbors.
Also worth visiting is the mountain climbing resort called Mount Tapulao. Mountaineers and camping enthusiasts from all over the country travel to Palauig to visit this resort. It is also appealing because of the cool climate similar to that of Baguio’s. Since you’re up in the mountain, you’ll have a spectacular view of the sunset and the rest of the island. But you also have the choice to head back to the beach and watch the sunset from there.
