Pundaquit

This small barangay of San Antonio, tucked in Zambales is one of the most sought after places in a backpacker’s bucket list. Blessed with sandy shores and beautiful wildlife, this place is an escapade you can only dream of.

Native to its beaches are sea turtles who crawl their way to the sand and lay their eggs. Hundreds of baby sea turtles, squirm their way out of their holes and race to the open waters every December to February. Aside from that, the waters are dotted with reefs, teeming with wildlife and biodiversity.

And knowing that this is Zambales, Pundaquit is no stranger to surfers! Whether beginner or advanced, you’ll have no problem in catching a wave or two in this small barangay. Especially during monsoon season, the wave swells in Pundaquit are ideal for surfing. However, if you’re not the surfing type, you can always go diving, snorkeling, hiking, camping, or just good old swimming.

In Pundaquit, the sky’s the limit with what you can do on its humble shores. It’s not commercialized and not crowded, so you’ll have no problem in finding a spot on the gray-sand beach. And you know what, if you’re lucky enough, you might just see a whale, a dolphin, or some other rare sea-dweller.

Pundaquit is a small gem in Zambales and it is San Antonio’s pride and joy.
