San Carlos City
The City of San Carlos in the province of Negros Oriental is filled with natural attractions that would make backpackers go out of their mind with excitement. Aside from the thrill of adventure, San Carlos City is also a destination meant for a little bit of relaxation and rest.
It is home to the Sipaway Island, which is known on the map as Refugio Island. It’s where you can do more than just bum on the beach or get kissed by the sun. The island has long stretches of white sand and clear waters. And in those waters are hundreds of different corals and reefs where you can snorkel in. These corals are now protected, which is safe to assume that marine life here will continue to live on for a long time. If you plan on visiting this island, please do your part to contribute to this initiative.
Other activities you can do in the island include scuba diving and kayaking. Also in Sipaway are delicacies, like the bokayo and pan bisaya, which will surely make you ask for more. The bokayo is coconut meat drenched with sugar syrup and pan bisaya is homemade bread.
Also, a century-old Balete tree resides in the area. Balete trees are said to be home of ancient spirits and fairies. So, just to be safe, be careful not to step on its roots!
Finally, San Carlos City is also home to the Whispering Palms Resort. The resort is a hidden paradise blessed with a man-made lagoon and nearby islands where you can do some island hopping! Not to mention that the resort is also nestled just along the shoreline! And just like in Sipaway, there are coral reefs for you to see and explore.
