San Luis has a pretty small populace compared to its land mass. With only 20,000 inhabitants, it still remains to be the largest town in Aurora. With plenty of natural attractions, San Luis is an ideal location for those who want to go on an adventure or just want to appreciate the simple joys Mother Nature has to offer.
Being one of the municipalities in its jurisdiction, Aurora Memorial National Park houses dozens upon dozens of bird, mammal, reptile, and insect species. This includes the Philippine Eagle, which has been spotted to grace the area several times. It usually stays in the less-populated section of the National Park so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
Aside from the nature park, San Luis also has a couple of beaches where you can have a picnic or watch the sunset. But what you shouldn’t miss in the town is its natural waterfalls. The cascading waters land in a pool, which is perfect for swimming. They have two in this town: the Caunayan Falls and the more popular Ditumabo Falls. It’s been nicknamed as the Mother of Falls of Aurora (Mother Falls). When visitors go to Baler, they usually stop by to see the falls because of its grandeur. Getting to these destinations isn’t easy though! So if you’re up for the challenging walk leading up to the falls, then rest assured you will be rewarded!
San Luis also has the Maaling-aling Trek where you climb up towards the peak of Mt. Maaling-aling, which is popular amongst mountaineers. This is a recommended activity if you’re up for an adventure in the mountains. You could also try taking the Danayag trek, as well.
Seriously, folks, San Luis is just a small town where great adventures can be had. And it’s not too pricey either!
