Santa Maria, found in the province of Bulacan, is filled with lush garden resorts, swimming resorts, churches, and delicious local delicacies. Visit the La Immaculada Concepcion Church and simply stand in awe of its enormity and architecture.
For those who simply want to get away from the city and take a quick dip in the pool, Santa Maria also has many local resorts to offer. Visit the 4-K Garden Resort and the Lanesca Resort in Catmon, the Cool Water Resort in Lalakhan, the Stone Bridge Resort, the Pamar Wonder Pool, or the Long Meadows Country Resort. You can choose to extend your stay for a few more days if you find that you don’t want to leave the swimming pool just yet.
Try Bulacan’s delicacies, such as the chicharon (pork cracklings), custard cake, salabat (ginger ale), pastillas (milk candy), and lechon sarsa (roasted suckling pig sauce). Try their sweet preserves for dessert — the garbanzos, the langka (jackfruit), or the macapuno (sweetened jelly-like coconut flesh), which will surely satisfy your sweet tooth.
Aside from these delights, Santa Maria is also rich with history and heritage. Don Jose Serapio (Captain Jose) served as Captain Municipal in this town for several years, and is often remembered for his great leadership in making Santa Maria what it is today. This municipality is also the hometown of Jose Corazon de Jesus, the famous Filipino poet, and the Francisco Santiago, the famous composer of “Nasaan Ka Irog”.
