Unspoiled and relatively still rural, the quaint city of Tabuk welcomes all of its visitors with fresh air and a variety of adventures to take especially tailored for backpackers and adventure-seekers. The city is the provincial capital of Kalinga with over 100,000 inhabitants. Also, Tabuk also happens to be the second official city of the Cordillera after Baguio.
The city is home to the longest river in the country. The Chico River is the most popular tourist attraction in the city, famous for its white river rafting. Adrenaline junkies can go here during the rainy season when the difficulty level of smashing through the rapids reaches its peak. It’s not advisable though, if you’re not experienced enough.
The fun doesn’t end there! Tabuk offers spelunking in the caves of Buaya, trekking to Mt. Binaratan, Aguinaldo Hill, Mt. Mating-oy Dinayao, and Sungang Viewpoint. Being part of the Cordillera, Tabuk is also home to several rice terraces so you can check those out, too! The Dananao, Tinglayan, and Lubo terraces are open for you to view and appreciate. Exploring the Uguid-Maling Subterranean River is also a popular activity to do in Tabuk!
If you’re looking for something more relaxing however, swim on over and take a dip by the Matabor Falls or Palan-ah Falls, or even the Pasil Dam! And if you’re looking for something to help get rid of the stress, soak all your worries away in the Hot Springs of Kalinga, a natural steaming water to help relax those muscles.
A simple place and a melting pot of various activities, Tabuk City allows you to release all your inhibitions and to step out of your comfort zone even for just a weekend.
