Like many towns in Cavite, Tanza has its own history to share. Formerly known as Santa Cruz de Malabon, Tanza is where the first president and vice-president of the Revolutionary Philippine Government took their oaths for office. Generals Emilio Aguinaldo and Mariano Trias took their oath in the centuries old Holy Parish Church, where it still stands tall in the municipality today.
The Church was built in the 1830’s by the townspeople, with the help of Filipino priests. Its jurisdiction was later passed on to the Dominicans. Today, the church is the primary place for Roman Catholic locals to pray and hear mass. This historical church still has the same structure from centuries ago, regardless of its now aging walls and doors.
Tanza is also the birthplace of Felipe G. Calderon, the man who first drafted the Philippine Constitution.
Currently, the town is a first class municipality and is the second local government unit in Cavite to have banned plastic bags and the usage of polystyrene, which undoubtedly contributed to their accomplishment of the Seal of Good Housekeeping.
Tanza isn’t just your run off the mill rural town. The municipality was regarded as the most competitive in economic dynamism. This means that they give urban, economic, and financial development top priority.
Evident of this, Tanza is home to the world-class Tanza Oasis Resort. Claiming to be the only true resort destination in Cavite, the resort boasts of its first-class services and facilities. The resort has a large swimming pool that is adored by both children and adults. The hotel also caters to international clientele and business meetings. With a top of the line restaurant and other amenities, it’s no surprise that people from all over the country come to visit this resort.
