Zamboanguita

Zamboanguita, with a modest 25,000 as its general populace, is the smaller version of and named after the 6th largest city in the Philippines, Zamboanga. It is the gateway to Apo Island, which is a world-class diving site. Because of its proximity to this small town, Zamboanguita also has its fair share of coral formations that are to die for!

Zamboanguita is also known for its famous Malatapay Market. Happening every Wednesday of the week, the market takes up the entire stretch of road up to the the dock where the ferries for Apo Island sail away. So, if you’re planning to go on a diving tour in Apo Island, might as well drop by this market. And they don’t only sell food! Aside from the scrumptious local delicacies, Malatapay is also a flea market. You can get whatever you want there, from clothes, to knives, to even rope!

The town also has an array of hotels and resorts for you to stay in! One of them, the Antulang Beach Resort, has an infinity pool. Where, fun fact, Judy Ann Santos was proposed to by Ryan Agoncillo a few years ago (give the boyfriends a little hint, ladies)!

This small town is a great place to escape to. Near all of the other islands worth exploring, Zamboanguita is simply a must-see for everyone who wants to discover more of the Philippines.
