It's a quaint not-so-little restaurant along Katipunan extension that serves pretty good comfort food at... Comfortable prices 128514

The beef belly was okay, but a standout favorite is the lamb salpicao! As other reviews have already mentioned, it's the kind of dish even people who don't like lamb would probably enjoy.

Truffle pasta was kinda bland though.

For mushroom fans, give the mushroom Chicharon a try! Really good when they're fresh out of the frier but eat them quick coz they get kinda soggy.

All things considered, I'd eat here again. I don't see myself craving for anything in particular (maybe the lamb) but it's a good place close to home. 128077

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken

Fried Chicken

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Peri-Peri chicken apparently, according to their signs around promenade. 128517

The chicken was pretty good -- moist all the way through (including the white meat!) and pretty flavorful. The big winner is that they serve 12 different sauces to go with it! A server roams around the restaurant with a cart loaded with all the sauces for you to try.

There didnt seem to be much more on the menu worth trying, though if you're really hungry, get their patatas bravas. HUGE servings and their "homemade sauce" is pretty good!

Oh, and P69 for unlimited drinks and soup!

Overall, not bad -- you get a lot for what you pay for given their serving sizes and affordable prices. I still say SeΓ±or Pollo's chicken is #1 but this wasn't a bad alternative!

Stuff Over Burger Cafe

The Hungry Daisy: A burger stuffed with bacon, Caramelized onion, and cheddar cheese -- what's not to like? 127828

I'd put this place under the I-really-wanna-pig-out category of burger joints. It's not particularly amazing or tasty, but the sinfulness of it all is really appealing when you're starving. 128517

Not bad, not great, but it'll definitely fill you up enough to find yourself smiling after... Or passed out on your bed.

Charlie's Grind & Grill

4.0 Stars

Charlie's never fails to remind me of what a good burger SHOULD be -- not just a greasy mess between buns that make us feel ashamed of the number of calories we're about to consume, but a tasty sandwich made with super fresh ingredients that doesn't necessarily need a lot of gimmicks to be enjoyed.

Their Bacon Angus cheeseburger is a perfect example. Sure it's got bacon for a bit of extra saltiness, but other than that, you don't need much more. Personally I add a bit of ketchup and mustard, but not so much that it hides the burger's flavor. Even the veggies are super crisp and fresh!

Be sure to throw in an order of fries (I always get the chili cheese variant, but others swear by the truffle Parmesan) and their iced tea (super good! Definitely not just Lipton or nestea) for a balanced burger diet. 128513

Montemar Beach Club Resort

4.0 Stars

You definitely don't see anything like this in Manila. 9728️

While a little farther than places like Pico de Loro or Anvaya, Montemar is still a gorgeous beach resort to visit. It's open to non-members too (at reasonable prices, we paid 8500 for a room good for 4) so that's always a bonus!

The rooms are clean and the staff members are really nice. There's only one restaurant at the place, so it really limits your dining options. Luckily, the food is always good. Be sure to try their BINAGOONGAN WITH CHOCOLATE and the TURON DE LECHE FLAN.

Something else that's cool is that if you're lucky, you get to help release baby turtles! I think it's part of a conservation effort for the pawikans in Bataan. :)

La Creperie

Got pretty excited to try a churro crepe! On paper, it looked good. A cinnamon crepe that you'd dunk in some rich hot dark chocolate. 128563

Buuuuuut... For the price (almost P300!), you're better off just getting actual churros from somewhere else. The crepe itself was good but underwhelming. I mean... It's a crepe.

The chocolate dipping sauce was good. It was the right amount of bitter and sweet to go really well with the churro crepe.

The place is cute though. They play french music and the decor kinda does make you feel like you're in some quaint Parisian bistro.

Aside from the novelty of being able to order a churro crepe, there's not much more to say about the place. I think I'd much rather save cash by hitting up the crepe places at the malls or something. 128533

Linguini Fini

I came for the pasta but left happy coz of the pork. 128055

I know that the place is popular for their pasta dishes (like the papardelle) but what I really fell in love with is their chopped porchetta. "Slow-roasted, fennel rubbed pork belly chopped with chili mostarda, fennel, focaccia."

The pork alone is super flavorful but oh man that mustard sauce it's served it -- for me, that was the real star of the dish. What I did was take small pieces of the focaccia bread, spread some of the mustard on, then top with pork and onions. Each bite was awesome. It kinda sucked that I ran out of bread but that whole plate was wiped clean.

The pasta and pizza are good (you can really taste that they were made with super-fresh ingredients) but I'm coming back for the pork.

Had to take away a star just coz it was a little pricier than what I'd hoped. Still though, good food and GREAT service. 128077

Presenting.. My very own Chichi T work of art! 128514

In the photo, you'll see this brownish square-looking thing. The pork belly confit. Holycrap that thing was good. Swimming in oil and fat, but oh so worth it.

You'll probably read other reviews for the place talking about the duck, but this one's a sleeper hit! It's good even without any sauce and goes great with the garlic rice (hello Yina M!) 128517

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

4.0 Stars
Ramen or Noodle

For when you're craving for ramen AND Katsu, there's no other place that comes to mind. It's the best of both worlds, really... Great katsu, good ramen, all in one place.

A lot of ramen joints are pretty pricey, but play your cards right and you can score big time with Santouka's ramen sets.

As an example, getting the ramen + fried salmon (so good btw!!! Almost as good as yabu's salmon Katsu!!) set will set you back 470 if I remember correctly. Add 40 to upgrade your ramen to regular size (or 100 to get it up to a large) and you've got a meal good for 2! I call it... The Hokaido Hack 128513

Aaaaand it comes with tamago, salad, rice, pickled cabbage, and tea. All that for much less than what you'd pay for 2 meals separately. 128077

Fast Food

What would make we wanna review a McDonalds? Free food, that's what. 5 stars for that. 128514

Now if it hadn't been free, I'd say the chicken mcmuffin was okay. Nothing to write home about. I guess it'd be for those days when you feel like having chicken instead of a sausage one morning. I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Still, a cool promo from the nice people of McDo. Glad my car's red. 128517128663
