Crisostomo

Brought my cousin from Hongkong to Crisostomo's so that she'll have a better understanding of Filipino food. Little did I know that Crisostomo does so much better than simply introducing Filipino dishes. While staying true to the Filipino-Spanish theme (I am truly reminded of my El Fili and Noli Me Tangere days in high school), this restaurant also adds their own touch to things.
It was a busy Sunday and naturally, the whole place was jampacked with people, so we were seated on the second floor, which wasnt a problem at all because we got to admire the interior design from above. We chose the table beside the little balcony of the restaurant which I truly loved! I think it's a representation of the Filipinas watching people from their balconies back then.

The menu was truly interesting and we definitely ordered a lot for a group of four. We got the Sisig Linares (Pork Sisig) which is definitely a far cry from the usual sisig you get to taste because most of it is crispy it actually reminded us of crispy pata. I didnt find it special or what, I guess I like the normal version more. After this we waited for a longer period of time, but it was nice that everything came altogether after that long wait. Our Adobo rice, Maria Elena, Tinolang Matanglawin, Don Filipo, Don Rafael, and Caracol were finally served.

The caracol is mainly escargots in ginataang sauce which of course tastes like ginataan. This, for me, is so so, but I liked that it made me like Ginataan. I don't think you can find this anywhere though, this is really an original. Try it if you love escargots. After trying this, we all had our share of the Adobo Rice, which was really really good we all wanted a second serving. This one I can truly recommend! It was well-flavored and it leaves a very good impression on your tummy. Next was the Tinolang Matanglawin, personally, I like Tinola, but this one, maybe it could've been better if there was less luya because it the soup literally tasted like luya it was kinda 'maala't already. But the chicken is really tender and delicious.

Don Filipo, as I can remember, is the adobong pusit. I've tasted several versions of this one already and sad to say, Crisostomo's is my least favorite. I don't know, maybe I expected it to be a little 'maasim' or sour rather than sweet. It felt like eating squid flakes honestly. That's what it tasted like and it wasnt worth it for the price. Another Don was the Don Rafael which was the crispy pata. Crispy pata really makes my mouth water every time I think of it. Their version is delicious and crispy as expected! I also love the sauce they made! The meat was definitely soft and I really wanted more after my first bite. Very flavorful!

The Maria we had was Maria Elena which was the kangkong with fried pork. This one was a favorite amongst the group because it was really good. It was the right kind of sweet and the kangkong was fresh and soft too. We all enjoyed it along with the pork that came with it. Now I love veggies again!!

After all these, it was time for dessert! According to the other reviews, dessert in Crisostomo is a must! So we had Iday which was the suman dipped in dark chocolate. I don't usually get to eat Filipino delicacies but this suman is so delicious! I have never really thought of suman dipped in chocolate! This is genius. It tasted so good I asked for their queso de bola cheesecake in the end which tasted like ensaymada (okay maybe we should've ordered another serving of Iday...)

Overall, there were ups and downs with the dishes we ordered, but it was okay since our main goal was to share the goodness of Filipino food with our cousin. Crisostomo has done a good job! Their servers are also very attentive and polite. Their dishes are well-thought of and very interesting. I love that the names are themed! My most recommended dishes are the Don Rafael, Maria Elena, Adobo Rice and the Iday!

It was a nice experience, although I wish they had proper descriptions of their dishes in the menu so next time we would know what we we're ordering and not just depend on the photos that come along.

My all-time favorite place to get proper afternoon tea never fails me, always so consistent even in different branches!
Tried twg at conrad for the first time a few days ago for some quiet me time and I really enjoyed my experience. I got to smell first some of the teas I asked to sample, the names I forgot already, and ended up going with their staff's recommendation, the Saicho tea. It's quite similar with their silver moon for me as it has fruity hints to it. But I really loved it!

I got the afternoon tea package that includes either two of their scones or one dessert from their pastry collection + twg tea in the price range of 195php. This costed me 381 pesos with tax and service charge already.

I chose the chocolate cake, again I forgot the name, my bad, but please see photos! Creamy and light, I must say. It was pretty good and paired with the tea, it was perfect.

Service was impeccable, no bias at all! This is why I keep coming back.

It was a spontaneous trip to shangrila plaza, and we were getting really hungry after shopping, and mongkok was full already, so we went to dine here.

The food was pretty good, I had the flat iron steak medium rare, the first few bites were hard to chew but the middle parts tender and juicy. My brother's ribeye was rather dry for me, but the baby back ribs were pretty good!

I also loved their clam chowder soup and mashed potatoes. Yum! Salad was very very fresh, loved the walnuts.

Service was so-so. It took ages for them to process our payment. Also food was rather expensive.

I keep forgetting the names of the dishes we ordered, but I do agree thay kimono ken claims to bring affordable japanese food with good quality.

We ordered a lot that night, and left no leftovers. I guess the food was pretty good for that standard. Loved the california maki, philadelphia maki, and the spicy salmon maki. The gyozas were also great, not the cheap kind. The chicken teriyaki rice was delicious, it's the kind that I like, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Also ordered. Gyu hireniku, had it medium rare and loved how tender and juicy it was. The rest is 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

Service was impeccable as well. I would definitely come back for the makis, gyu hireniku, and the rice bowls.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in town, my rating shows!! I love this restaurant even if I've only been once! My mouth keeps watering whenever I see the photos of the food my bestfriend and I had last month!!

Okay okay, what did we have?
Soft shell crab taco maki 199
I love anything soft shell! This is a sure hit!

Ebi and kani aburi maki
Now I know the reason behind this restaurant's hype. I mean people are actually lining up for this restaurant even if it's been open for long already! This maki was really good my bestfriend even agrees! Flavor is not overpowering at all.

Hanger steak 495 this I had all to my self, it was juicy and cooked pretty well! Made me love hanger steak more. I really liked the chips on top too and the mashed potato or kamote, okay I might have this wrong but I don't really know how to differentiate the two. But please take my word for it, IT REALLY IS GOOD.

Caramelized banana and ice cream
I also had this to myself, and found this to be a more sosyal version of banana que with ice cream. The addition of cilantro was pretty clever though.

Service was impeccable. Didnt spend too much for that much food too! I want to come back!!

Burger

Had the dying burger for lunch, costed me 120php. It has bacon and cheese with the thick patty. You're supposed to use plastic gloves to eat the burger, all I can say is the burger is quite big if you're not gonna use a fork and knife!

The patty could be compared to 8cuts, but I still like 8cuts better, more savory. The aftertaste has a bit of similarity with jollibee's.

They do not have house water, and their service is really bad. Never have I dined in a restaurant where the staff is using her phone while taking your orders and still using her phone at the cashier area! If you ever raise your hand, no one will attend to you unless you speak! The waiter is much nicer than the girl who mans the cashier. Before ordering, I asked if I could borrow the menu and she didnt even look at me and answer. she just nodded in a mataray way.

I waited for my friends in this cafe, and ordered their dark caraibe cake 200php and french early grey tea from twg 180php.

I loved the cake, it was very consistent in flavor and the thickness was to my liking. The tea, of course, was great, it's one of my favorites from twg.

Waiting costed me pretty much my 2 days baon, but it was pretty nice because I loved what I ordered. But! What I didnt like about this place was that THERE WERE JUST TOOOOOOO MANY MOSQUITOES IN THE AREA. I have never dined in a restaurant in a hotel with that much mosquitoes which kept biting my legs 128557128557128557128557

Gelato

The only thing I liked about Chiara's is the generous amounts of free taste of their gelatos.

Sad to say most of my reactions during tasting the different flavors were 'weird!'. In the end, I went for the melon, strawberry, and the strawberry cheesecake.

Melon is flat out ordinary
I liked the sourness of strawberry
Strawberry cheesecake or panna cotta was heavy

Please see the photos I've attached. Just look at the serving. That costed me almost 130 pesos? A bit disappointing. Good thing I got free taste, medyo sulit! But not coming back.

Do not judge me when I say I just go to any ippudo that I see in a mall when I'm really hungry, no second thoughts!!

I mean, who doesn't love Ippudo? Their akamaru chashu is always so good. I love the hints of spiciness at 470php!

Their ramen is just so good, I get easily full plus love their tea. I suggest you read my old reviews.

One thing I do not like is the service charge, my pocket hurts everytime! 470 plus service charge is more than 500.

But the ramen is totally worth it and the chashu they give is yummy and serving is HUGE

I mean, who doesn't love Ippudo? I find myself quite lucky because everytime I crave their ramen, there's no line! I don't need to wait.

I am always quickly seated and quickly served, because I already know what I'm going to order : akamaru chashu! 470php!

Their ramen is just so good, I suggest you read my old reviews. at ippudo I don't feel like dining alone is a bad thing to do, because their ramen is soooo good!
