Jack's Loft

5.0 Stars
Bar

Loved that you can order from 2 other menus aside from Jack's Loft, next door MyThai and Pho Hoa.

Hubby and I ordered Bagoong Rice and grilled pork on kangkong from MyThai. Yummy! Big servings for both. For the lil girl, we got her fave penne pesto with chicken from the Jack's Loft menu. And of course, a fishbowl iced tea, which the 3 of us shared. Haha.

It was not stuffy and crowded, even for dinnertime amidst crazy Christmas shopping, despite the full resto and a steady stream of diners.

Will definitely come back!

Ramen Nagi

Ramen or Noodle

I have yet to try the ramen but the receptionist taking names at the front door scores a negative for me in terms of customer service! She wasn't hospitable at all! They don't take the cellphone numbers of the clients on the waitlist. And it's not as if the list is short. You cannot expect all the diners to sit outside and wait!

Maybe the food is all that but a restaurant is more than just the food! I am seething right now. AWFUL, DREADFUL SERVICE.

I hope this reaches the Ramen Nagi management.

Laid back, cozy ambience with dim lighting. Clean and simple tastes. We ordered the penne pomodoro and margherita pizza. Service was great! Will come back!

Apparently, this place has closed. Just called this afternoon. I "dislike" this. Hehe.

What's left of my pizza when I remembered to take a photo haha! Amazing pizza with a super crispy crust -- you can taste every ingredient you picked to build your own pie with.

Museum Cafe

American

I was here this afternoon for post-lunch coffee with old friends from elementary/high school. After being coerced by one of them with a description of one of the desserts here, we headed over to this café just outside the Ayala Museum (hence the name) haha.

I've always seen this place on the walkway from Greenbelt 5 to 3 and wondered what it was. With a fish pond located beside it, and al fresco dining available, it was great for today's windy and cool weather.

Friends ordered coffee, I didn't. They serve Illy coffee btw. And the dessert that convinced me to go here was the leche flan turon with chocnut dip! Ingenious stuff! The turon wasn't as sweet as expected and was complemented really well by the chocnut dip. They ordered the buko pandan and I must say, though the taste was nothing special, A for effort for the presentation! Sorry, no pic for that one, but they served the salad on a fresh buko half nestled on a plate of ice. Not bad.

I will definitely be back, with my family in tow to try other stuff here.

Joaquin's Bed & Breakfast

Hotel

We spent our anniversary here yesterday. I love Nicholas Sparks so imagine my delight when I saw pics of this place -- looking straight out of one of his books 128218128214. It's rustic, homey and impeccably clean! Let's not forget the kick-ass view! 127755128077128079127755 And despite the crazy traffic just outside on the highway coz of the holidays, this place feels secluded and private.

Don't expect hotel smells and feel -- this is like your country vacation home, with the staff feeling like they're your distant relatives you haven't seen for a long time. The food is good, also making you feel like your eating your aunt's or lola's specialty cooking.

We will definitely be back!

Patisserie

Dessert

The patisserie offers a huge variety of dessert choices after sampling the meals at the Solaire food court or if you're just looking for quick coffee fix and merienda after gambling yer money away. We went here for the former 128541

There are around 10 gourmet flavors ice cream, cookies, cake slices, cupcakes, croissants, danish and a good selection of coffee.

There were 7 of us in the group and we got 4 cake slices at 120 apiece. The size was around 2.5 x 2.5 inches and 1.5 inches thick. We got the Chocolate Napoleon which was a sugar-free dark chocolate goodness! It'd go great with sweet coffee. Next is sissy's favorite Strawberry Cheescake and 2 slices of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE in the bunch: WALNUT CARAMEL TART! Wow. My mouth is watering now as I think about it.

It's a layered cake (i dunno what it is called exactly) with a lot of walnut topping (no skimping at all!) followed by a thick chocolate layer then-- omg I need to take up a dessert class just to describe it haha! So just look at the pic and go to Solaire to taste it for yourself!

Oh, the wifi at the foodcourt is AMAZINGLY FAST! Haha! -- a huge PLUS!

Draft Gastropub

Bar

We were here for post-Catching Fire late dinner and it was goo-od! I had the fish and frites, which was wayyy better than the one at Fish and Co! It was super crispy on the outside and still wonderfully soft on the inside -- and not greasy at all! Serving size was big and okay value for money. My husband had the chili dog with frites. It's a bit pricey but I guess that's coz it had US Angus beef as a topping.

The ambience was cool and laid back and definitely fits the bill as a modern gastropub. Would definitely be back!

Café Mary Grace

Among all branches of Mary Grace, this one tops my list. I absolute love the interior. Everytime I come here, I can't help but take a few pictures, especially of the lanterns/light fixtures. I always order cheese rolls grilled. Melts in your mouth! I'm drooling now just thinking about it. Haha.

Tried a slice of their Limoni Santi today. It was good. I ordered it to compare with Chocolate Kiss' sour cream cheesecake. I still prefer the latter, but since Quezon City is so far away, this cake will have to do.

Oh the staff here are good too. You're like a neighbor who dropped by to chat the way the welcome you to the place.

That said, Café Mary Grace is my fave chillax spot in Southmall!
