Limbaga 77 Cafe and Restaurant

4.0 Stars
Café

I have always had a firm belief that good filipino food is honest. A rogue sprinkling of foie gras is all you need for your adobo to cross the fine line between “fusion” and “pretentious”.

Thankfully, Limbaga 77 serves great filipino classics with honest flavors that wouldnt be out of place in lola’s kitchen. Just like the restaurant’s ambience, the food they serve is familiar, relaxed, and comforting. Kind of like a warm hug after a day’s work.

The dishes we had were all filipino staples namely the pochero, bagnet, and mango-watermelon shake. There were also a few different dishes just to mix it up a bit namely the sinigang sa pakwan and my personal favorite, the danggit rice.

I wouldve loved to give Limbaga 77 a “5” rating but i think the desserts could be improved on. Their bitter dark chocolate cake could be a little bit moist and the quezo de bola cheesecake cheesier.

Nonetheles, Limbaga 77 is definitely is a great place to visit.

Barkada

I stumbled upon an old review and all i could say is “glad i had the opportunity to visit BARKADA again”.

I must say, this place has stepped it up quite a bit! My recent visit was enjoyable and satisfying; i discovered quite a handful of dishes i didnt know they had. Their filipino menu is actually something to rave about.

A few favourites of mine were the liempo kare-kare because of its rich peanut-y sauce; the eggplant salad because of its smokey flavour and subtle freshness; the sisig rice not only beacause it was flavourful but also reasonably priced; the smores-because who doesnt love smores?!; and peach funnel cake because it was light, crispy, and one of the best funnel cakes ive had in a while.

Even though barkada still prides themselves with filling meals for student friendly prices, this place is great for dates and families too. They sure do have something for everyone to love.

Locatd on the top floor of uniqlo in Bgc, i darts dash is the first electronic darts place in the Phils. Dash, its owner, said that its a franchise from australia and a great place for families and friends to hang out.

To play, you have to purchase a tap card (similar to timezone) that contains a certain amount of credits. A game of darts usually costs 30php per person and can last from 10-20minutes.

I darts dash also offers bar chow and cocktails. My favourites were the truffle cheese fries, loaded nachos, buchiron, and amaretto sour. Everything they serve is good for sharing.

Definitely had fun and i look forward to coming back with my friends.

Dencio's

Dencio’s Tomas Morato is one of their newest branches – perfect for either lunch or dinners with family, and tambays with barkada. They made it even easier for groups (or a really really hungry pair) to enjoy mealtime by introducing their Dencio’s Boodle bundles. There are two versions of the boodle you can get: One is the all fried version, and one with grilled (inihaw) viands.

All Fried Dencios Boodle (1500php)
Big Tilapia, Calamares, Lechon Kawali, Lumpiang Shanghai, with around 5 cups of Plain Rice, Ensaladang Mangga't Bagoong, 3 dipping sauce (Tartar, Soy Sauce, Sweet and sour)

All Inihaw Boodle (1600php)
Inihaw version of everything in the All Fried Boodle

If the boodle isn’t your thing, their Pork Sisig is a must-try and my personal favourite sisig (in Manila!). This crunchy and meaty version of the sisig goes great with rice, and beer.

For dessert – Dencio’s Maja Banca ftw!

Pancake House

Pancake House has always been synonymous to comfort food for me. One of my favourite childhood memories are of my lolo taking me for spaghetti and waffles after sunday morning masses - this happened every week for years. This is why i was really excited to have gotten an invite for last thursdays visit.

Pancake House prides themselves with having good food and service that many will find reasonable. Dining here will definitely leave you full and satisfied.

My personal favourites were the spaghetti, best tacos in town, and their signature golden brown waffle. Their light and airy buttermilk pancakes are also great not only for breakfast but as a dessert too.

The recently came out with a new product called the coffee caramel coffee snickers pancake which was not only IG worthy but also crazy good! The lighter than air coffee-flavoured pancakes (that were generously drizzled with caramel and chocolate syrup, topped with whipped cream, and sprinkled with chopped snickers) is something you have to order pretty much anytime of the day. An order is about 140php and is big enough to share.

Pancake House is always always a good choice any time of the day.

A disappointing visit to bad bird. I only entered because they said they had grilled meats qhich they didnt have. I was already eating apps so i had no choice but to stay.

I didnt like the food all that much and walked out of Bad Bird with a bag full of take out and feeling hungry. Ordered the chicken nuggets which were too oily and grainy. The scallion pancakes were burnt, oily, and very salty. My fried chicken was also very dry and surprisingly bland. My I dont know what happened but i think i wont be back here for a while.

To be fair, the Servers were nice but the food just didnt cut it.

Really liked how refreshing taste of the iced white. Perfect for someone who needs a “relaxed cup of coffee”. Cookie was great too!

My visit to Nono’s was definitely a treat. Its been a while since i ate out due to health reasons and im glad to have kicked off the holiday season at this place. Didnt hold back and ordered steak, chicken, and french onion soup to celebrate the “occasion”.

I really loved the boneless fried chicken with gravy and fries. The batter was light and tasty, and the meat of the chicken was seasoned well. The steak was tender and in my opinion didnt need the gravy. Great masked potatoes and french beans too! The onion soup was a good meal starter but i wish they have put less bread because it absorbed a lot of the flavourful liquid.

Overall, it was a meal i was happy to binge on and i will definitely be back.

Greeeeat nachos!! So cheesy and messy 🤤 i would definitely come back for this. I also liked their smoked pork belly. It was a little too expensive tho.

One thing i hope they improve on is the burrito. It didnt have much meat in it and it was bland. The rice was also too mushy.

**noticed the photos from my fuji arent uploading properly. Puro close up 128517
