Another great dinner at Grill 1970! Thank you to the excellent crew tonight who has been nothing but patient and quick with our endless side dish refill requests! 128514 Our crew of six wolfed down 3 plates of Beef Belly (350php) and 1 plate of Pork Belly w/ Squid Vegetable & Spicy Sauce (360php). Everything was tasty and filling even without rice. 128539

PS. Didn't realize most of my pictures are out of focus. Hahahaha. Owel, too excited to eat!

Time flew by last Friday when my colleagues and I decided to hit this Korean restaurant in Tomas Morato. We started at 5:20PM and left around 9:30PM! 128522

We got here 10 minutes before 5PM only to find out that they really open at 6PM. They graciously allowed us in at 5:20PM (after tidying up the place) and let us order immediately since we were early birds.

We had the following:
3 rounds of Beef Belly (350php; yes, it was THAT good we had it 3 times)
1 serving of Pork Belly w/ Squid, Vegetables & Spicy Sauce (360php; Excellent but is an acquired taste)
1 serving Fried Kimchi with Tofu (280php; Do not order if you're not a kimchi fan and/or a tofu lover as there is unlimited kimchi side dish)
1 serving of Spicy Chicken Feet (280php; I did not personally try this due to medical reasons but I was told by those who tried it that the meat is sliding off the bone which makes it easy to eat and is yummy too!)

All these are good for sharing. Instead of getting some rice, we decided to make do with rolling the meat in lettuce with some veggies. Note that all side dishes are unlimited except for the egg. The waiters' smiles never wavered despite the nth time we asked for refills. 128514

We downed all of the food with one round of beer (San Miguel) and shared a bottle of Soju (180php). We even had some Korean ice cream after!

Overall, it was night of great food, great conversations, and great friendships. Thank you for setting the great ambiance, 1970 Grill!

Our go-to place when we crave korean food! Aside from it being so affordable, it's also one of the most authentic. You'd know even when the koreans in the area themselves eat here. Out of all the korean restaurants we've eaten at, we still look for the authentic taste of 1970. The only problem would probably be the parking. If you get there on a weekend or friday night be prepared to park quite far and will require you to walk a bit. What we love about 1970 is their widespread unlimited sides. Yes, you can ask for more! That alone can already make us full. Try the beef belly for it's tender and great with rice. They also have shabu-shabu and other korean dishes.

This is our go-to place for late night Korean food cravings. Place is quite small but cozy enough for some catching up with friends. Food is good, price is fair. Dishes taste authentic Korean!

Not much a fan of Korean food but 1970 Grill is one good quick fix for a spontaneous Korean craving.

Their shabu-shabu is very affordable and worth it with generous meat servings, and their sidings are also very delicious. Plus they also serve Melona ice cream! Yum!

1970 Grill also has conducive interiors for long and good talks with friends. The Korean design of wooden interior makes you feel a touch of Korea in a small corner of Tomas Morato. And it is also open until the wee hours of the morning!

The place is okay!

SPICY PORK BELLY - must try 5/5 (for me)
APPETIZERS - ok 3/5
STAFF - friendly accommodating

Though rice and a bottle of coke cost 50 pesos each!

A good place to bond with your family and friends if your craving for KOREAN dish. I think the price is affordable and cheap!

We always come back here because of its oh-so-good beef shabu-shabu. For less than 500php. You could have a meal full of veggies and meat. And most of all, my kids love their soup too. Great for the budget conscious fellas! 128077128523128521🈲

Easy cooking. Easy eating. The vibe is
like as if you're eating at Korea. My favorite is their Beef Shabu-shabu and Pork Belly. I love that you can have extra soup for your shabu-shabu. Condiments are complete so you can mix and match your food according to your taste. Kimchi is good too.

They have quirky attendants that are ready to serve. Best for bonding with friends because the place is quite and cozy.

Bonus: Melona!

First time to try Korean food, believe it or not. One of our friends dragged us here because she was craving so we agreed to it. I don't know what this is but it tasted good. A bit spicy though, I wish it wasn't because I suffer the wrath of my stomach after eating spicy or sour foods. It has meat that tastes like bacon & fresh veggies. I enjoyed it! They serve Kimchi, which I didn't try, all the time.

The place is kinda small, I think 8-10 tables. Not sure. Service was okay.

Our second Mother's Day celebration today, this time with my husband's side. Our second shabu shabu meal today also. We had the pork set shabu shabu and the beef set grill. I like the taste of their meat, I think they marinade it well. This is a good place if you are craving for Korean food (I wonder why Looloo placed this in the Japanese category?) price is not bad too, serving size is ok too.

The beef hotpot was of great value for a little less than Php500 good for 2-3 persons. It was ok. My taste buds didn't do some cartwheels after tasting it.

We also ordered the pork belly. It was ok too. If I were to crave for Korean BBQ, I would rather go to my regular Korean BBQ joint in Makati city.

What I liked about this place is their kimchi and cabbage in sesame oil that comes along with the BBQ meal as side dishes.

I had a late-night meeting at the northside of the metro for my best bud's special event so after that, I decided to have dinner there since I'm already in the foodie area.

I called up one of my friends to accompany me (I enjoy eating more when I'm sharing it with somebody). After I left QC, I haven't really had any news of the new foodie places so I asked her what she can suggest that I haven't tried yet. She said that we should meet at 1970 Grill. I knew the address because it was just one tumbling away from my previous house. She said it's a korean resto.

When i saw it, it was far from looking like a korean place. It didn't sound korean, it didn't look korean. It even somehow looked like a cowboy saloon. 128104

I was the first to arrive so i ordered for us. I got the kimchi with pork soup and the spicy pork belly. The kimchi side dishes were a bit limited but I like some of the ones that were brought to me. They even gave me an egg that looked like it has soup but when you dipped into it, the egg became a lil bit solid. Sort of like a tofu but egg. When I'm in korean restaus, I'm quite particular about how a kimchi's prepared. The one I had here was not really fresh and the flavor didn't blend well. I think it lacked the time of absorption (akala mo expert).

The soup was ok. It wasn't exceptional, it wasn't bad as well... It was average. I liked the spicy pork because yes, it was spicy, and the meat was tender.

What I liked most about this place is the price. For the food we ate which was really filling, the price was cheap. And the servers were very attentive. I'm not sure if it's just because customers were few (I just saw a couple of koreans and then a group at the other table), or if it's because my companion was a regular.

We left with a filled tummy and happy faces but i think my palate wasn't very satisfied. So there.
