The moment we landed in Legazpi, we were already famished... Two words: DELAYED FLIGHT!128545

So after a few stops, we decided to have a quick lunch... Our driver was already planning to drop us off at 1st Colonial Grill before I could request to go there...

I let my bf order and he wanted bagoong rice and the laing... The servings were pretty generous, so keep that in mind before you over-order... The bagoong rice was pretty good, though not their bestseller... People usually order the tinapa rice, but don't write off the bagoong rice just yet... The laing was good, but I'm not really a fan... The bf enjoyed it though...

Then came dessert! I was really excited to try their sili ice cream... This comes in three levels, one hotter than the last... We asked the waitress which level was tolerable... She immediately answered: level 1 lang po... Since we weren't amenable to burning our tongues off, we went for the safest level one... We also tried the pili ice cream, but they have several unique flavors to choose from... I wanted to try their shake, which had their ice cream base... Unfortunately, the blender was apparently broken that time, so I put off trying the tinutungan shake...

The sili ice cream was spicy at level one... The heat comes at the end of each bite... So each bite makes you think it's okay, then the heat rears it's naughty head at the end... Not your average ice cream, but I daresay a must try when in Legazpi... I liked the pili ice cream better, but it tasted like the usual nutty ice cream... Better if partnered with a complementing flavor, but that goes against the point doesn't it?

Definitely worth visiting when you are ever in the area...128522

Tables are a bit smelly and place looked busy (everyone was everywhere and masikip), but the food was divine!

Spring rolls, pinangat, tinapa rice, grilled tuna, and fresh buko juice in photo.

They also serve local flavors of ice cream here (sili, calamansi, salabat, tinutong na bigas).

Tinapa fried rice ftw!

If there's bagoong rice in Thai restos, 1st Colonnial has tinapa fried rice and it's as yummy as you can imagine. 128077🏼 Worth every peso. Kanin pa lang, ulam na!

Weirdest and surprisingly tasteful ice cream in town!
Try the spicy ice cream, pipino, pili, cacao, tinutungan, Laing, kalamansi and malunggay...
Really, it's all good :)

In the photo is 1st Colonial's famous Sili Ice Cream in Level 10 128540 I only had half teaspoon of it since I definitely couldn't handle the spiciness!128541 Sobrang anghang pagdampi pa lang sa dila! Haha128586
My workmates also tried Level 2 & Level 6 of the Sili Ice Cream, both of which have a taste similar to pimiento imo but leave you with spicy aftertaste. I settled for their Pili Ice Cream which is soo creamy & yummy!128076128156

This place is famous for their Sili Ice Cream. It's ice cream that has a kick! At first bite you'd taste creamy ice cream then once you start to savor and swallow it, you'll feel that spicy kick running down your throat! It's like eating fresh siling labuyo!

And they have 2 levels of spiciness! Level 1 is already so spicy, I wonder how Level 2 tastes like.

They also have other unique ice cream flavors like tinutong, salabat, malunggay, cacao and pipino. You can choose assorted flavors in one order.

One order, 3 scoops, cost P79.

They also have a branch in SM Naga. :)

Just out of curiosity we tried their Sili ice cream. At first it tasted good and creamy. Then suddenly there was a kick at the last part. Ohhmmmhgggg! Its a different kind of anghang ee! This is not for me. Maybe for others! Hahaaha. We just had a quick visit here just for this.

TIP: their tinapa rice is really good!

When in Legazpi, you will see Sili ice cream being peddled in tourist places. The best though is in 1st Colonial Grill, said to be the original.

Try their sili, pili and tinutong! The sili is the best--strawberry flavored with chillis kicking in at the end! Something unique and different! A must try when in Legazpi!

I don't know with you guys, but i was certainly up for the challenge of tasting this.

It's not really scary. It's still sweet and creamy. Guess where the kick comes in? Hehehe....

After goin to Camsur last last week, our tour guide dropped us to Colonial Grill for a food trip before we go back to our hotel in Legazpi. The place is located in Rizal st.Legazpi.It is a restaurant and grill but what makes them special is that it is the only house of the sili ice cream. That makes them unique. We all know that the Bicolano's was known for sili because most of their dishes were spicy.Good thing about this resto when you buy ice cream for around 79pesos you can have mixed flavors meaning you can choose three flavors from their menu so I choose their best sellers like sili ice cream, pili ice cream and the malunggay ice cream. This was my second time to try malunggay ice cream and the first one is at the bee farm in Bohol.I made a mistake because instead of ordering the tinutong ice cream which is included on the top 3best seller,I ordered the malunggay ice cream.Glad that my kids chose the three perfect combination of ice cream and when I tasted the malunggay I don't like it much but when I tried the tinutong ice cream it really taste good!my number 1 is sili ice cream then the pili ice cream then third is the tinutong ice cream. The good thing about sili ice cream is that you will taste the spice in your mouth but not that much because it blends well with the sweetness of the ice cream. Its color pink by the way.Look yummy128516and it is really128516It is a must try by tourist where eating is more than just an experience. Its one of my mission on goin to Legazpi to try their best dishes. Now I'm done with the pili cheesecake review from hotel st.ellis then crispy pata at bob marlin in naga,Laing pizza in CWC and now sili ice cream of 1st colonial.I still have one remaining Bicol specialty food review which I will write next so stay tune128516128077127846127848
