They say 22 Prime at Discovery Suites is one of the best steak houses in Manila. I was skeptical, but my visit proved me wrong. It was a really good visit.

Situated on the 22nd floor of the hotel, the restaurant features floor to ceiling glass windows that allow you to enjoy a view of the Ortigas CBD. The furniture is classy and comfortable, and the waitstaff is highly trained in fine dining.

We started the meal with their freshly baked bread and dips. I loved the sourdough rolls dipped in EVO, top quality balsamic vinegar, and freshly grated parmesan cheese, while the others enjoyed their spreadable cheeses and lightly salted butter.

The LOBSTER BISQUE was phenomenal! One of the highlights of my visit. The sweetness of the poached lobster in the creamy broth was simply elevated by the shellfish oil they used. The generous portion of the bisque was topped with a emmental herb brioche that just made all the flavours pop.

Only the freshest seafood is served here. They have a few dishes that any seafood lover would find delightful. My favourites were the GRILLED SELVA JUMBO PRAWNS with parsley marble potatoes and haricot verts; and the GRILLED MIXED SEAFOOD platter with prawns, salmon, tuna, mahi-mahi, squid, mussels, corn on the cob, and rice pilaf. Everything was simply prepared and seasoned with salt and pepper to bring out the individual deliciousness of each type of ingredient.

One wouldn't want to miss the meat courses here - STEAK is what they do best. We had a number of their chef's recommended dishes, and each showcased a preparation of beef that was remarkably special and best utilized the cut of meat used.

The USDA BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS were served with roasted bone marrow, butternut squash puree, glazed baby carrots and asparagus. The ribs are savoury, tart, and melt in your mouth - flavours brought out only by perfecting the the seasoning and braising liquid used. You'd also be surprised that the sweet and creamy butternut squash puree was the true hero of this dish as it balanced out the flavours of the meat. I seriously could eat a whole bowl of the puree alone.

The 200g WAGYU HANGAR STEAK from Snake River Farms is flown in fresh from the US and is true certified "wagyu beef". This means it has perfect fat to meat ratio and the marbling is superb. Its served with herb roasted mushrooms and truffle fries. The chef definitely did justice to the dish by cooking it perfectly medium-rare.

For those like me who love surf and turf, 22 Prime's 200g GRILLED ANGUS RIB EYE paired with jumbo prawns is the way to go. Aside from really good protein, the twice baked potato is something to look forward to. Best thing about ordering this was the different sauces that came with it. For me the very tart peppery steak sauce was the best pair for the steak, and i just had the prawns as they were.

For hungry groups like ours (oooor you may have it all to yourself), dont miss 22 Prime's TOMAHAWK! This jurassic-looking slab of meat is a USDA prime angus bone-in ribeye thats dry-aged for as long as 32 days to give it a distinct flavour and texture. It is big enough to feed a group of 3 and is served with the best truffled potato gratin and signature prime sauces. The whole thing is grilled to your liking, carved table-side, and you can even take home the bone. Best paired with their selection of red wine. Having this alone was an event in itself.

By the time we got to dessert, we were absolutely stuffed.. but the CHOCOLATE MARQUISE definitely dint go unnoticed. The very rich, sweet, chocolatey mousse was the perfect palate cleanser. A few bites of it with the vanilla english cream and pistachio bits was the perfect end to an afternoon with what i can only describe as "food porn".

Who needs sauce or any seasoning when your grilled NY Striploin has been seasoned and cooked beautifully! My surf and turf plate! Yum!

This is place is not even worth a rating. If you happen to be in the Ortigas area and looking for good steak, you definitely wont find it here. Save yourself from bad service and having a hot temper by not eating here.

If you want to eat good steak at your own privacy, I recommend going to 22 Prime at the 22nd floor of Discovery Suites. I had a Wagyu steak during my time there and it was cooked to perfection. As for improvements, I'd rather want my steak continuously warm over a hot stone. (But then steak lovers know why prime steak isn't served on a sizzling plate)

22 Prime takes pride in its lineup of specialty steaks so I decided to go for “Surf and Turf” for dinner.

The heart of the steak should be red with a nice crust on the outside and I’m just so happy that this 200-gram juicy, flavorful and perfectly grilled Angus Ribeye Steak was exactly that!

It came with 2 kinds of gravy that I actually didn’t have to touch. The steak did not need any gravy at all. The jumbo prawns were cooked beautifully, too! It came with Twice-Baked Potatoes and Grilled Tagaytay Vegetables. Upon serving of the steak, you also get to choose the kind of steak knife you prefer.

Indeed, 22 Prime offers the ultimate in dining pleasure!

Met up for lunch with a few girl friends and the chef graciously agreed to prepare a special set menu for us apart from their Thanksgiving menu since I was not too keen on having turkey.

Our meal started with a bowl of lobster bisque. To be candid, I never really understood this soup even though I love lobster. The lobster bisques I've previously had tasted a bit sour and reminded me a lot of watered down tomato-paste. So I was pleasantly surprised that I found myself liking their version. It was creamy, rich, and complex.

The soup was followed by their surf and turf, a combination of grilled prawns and Angus rib-eye, with twice baked potatoes and greens. This scared me a bit. I had previously informed the staff that we were 3 not-so-young medium-sized women who did not have the appetite large enough to finish the usual solo serving for steak, which is why I asked for a special menu where the steak size would be more manageable. Well, this steak still looked substantial. It was tender and flavorful, but as I suspected still too much to finish. The prawns were cooked perfectly.

We ended our meal with a cup of coffee and a plate of chocolate marquise. The chocolate marquise was not too sweet and had a mousse-like texture but not quite as soft. I liked it.

We basically had the entire restaurant to ourselves for lunch as I didn't see any other group. Servers were attentive yet unobtrusive. The place is huge and well-appointed. They also give free parking tickets, although good only for a limited time.

While I enjoyed my lunch with friends, I couldn't help but feel a tad underwhelmed. Maybe it was the huge steak serving despite my earlier instruction or that the place seemed a bit lonely or that my expectations were set too high by previous reviews. I can't quite put my finger on it. Still, I'm willing to come back... after I've worked up an appetite to finish their steak.

Not sure what happened to 22 Prime. They used to have great service and good food.

Our server was hard to find when needed (although he was there to refill drinks), barely smiled, didn't ask us how our food was, and didn't even greet us Happy Thanksgiving.

I understand we're in the Philippines and we don't even celebrate that but if your restaurant has a darn Thanksgiving menu and your guests are mostly foreigners (we were with Stephen C who was celebrating his first thanksgiving out of the US), greeting them with a happy thanksgiving might be a good idea.

Caesar Salad was just okay (I was excited to get this because they used to serve really good Caesar salad). For our main dish, the turkey pieces were puny, was too "herby" and frankly didn't taste anything special. (It's my first time to eat turkey but I was told this wasn't how turkey should taste like) Señor Pollo would have done it for me.

The mango cheesecake I had for dessert tasted like regular cheesecake that I could probably buy at a cafe somewhere for half the price. It was Php 230 or something.

Overall, this just wasn't a good visit. Good thing I was with good company.

P.S. They called me earlier today to confirm my reservation. "Hello! This is (insert name) from 22 Prime! Is this Mr. Rommel Soriano?" 128529 AND THEN, when I got there, (my friends were already waiting for me), I gave the name and I was led to a different table.... 128563

Loved the crispiness and taste of their slow roasted suckling pig with the compliment of peach chutney which made the overall taste just right for the palate 128523

Affordable nice fine dining buffet. I liked the mushroom and bacon salad thing and their fresh mussels. But the crabs were a big disappointment. Super not fresh.

It was Regine E and my 5th anniversary, and I wanted to surprise her with something nice, so I took her to Prime 22 at Discovery Suites! The place is quite classy, and the staff is pretty helpful.

We were lucky enough to come on a Wednesday night when they had a lounge singer performing in the adjoining restaurant, so we were serenaded with relaxing music while dining.

We ordered the 28-day dry aged steak because it was supposed to be big enough to share (800g), and it came with a few other side dishes too.

Our first course was the bread, which also comes with bruschetta and crushed tomatoes. I don't really know my bread types, but we had something that resembled toasted pita bread, and some sort of roll that had bits of either tomato or red pepper baked into it. The bread had sort of a faint sweetness to it, and was dense, but in a good way.

Second came the soup of the day: Lentil Soup. This wasn't bad, but I think it could have been improved a bit, or maybe changed to something more suitable to the main course. Reg even said it tasted a bit like monggo.

Third was what the waiter called an amuse-bouche (I have no idea what this means 128517). Basically this is a deep fried rice and Vigan Longganisa cube. It's actually more appetizing than it sounds, but I wish there was more Longganisa.

Finally, our gigantic steak arrived! This comes with a little hill full of garlic and mushrooms, grilled vegetables from Tagaytay and Potatoes au Gratin. The potatoes could use some work, as they were a bit bland once you get past the cheese on top. The vegetables and the mushrooms were great, but of course, the main attraction was the steak.

The beef was really soft and tender, and we could cut through it effortlessly, as if a hot knife had gone through butter. It was cooked just right, not too salty, not too oily and at the right doneness (we had medium rare). The meat was really thick, so we filled up fast. We almost gave up 3/4 of the way in!

Of course you can't forget the sauce! We had a selection of two, so we got their house sauce, and the black truffle cream sauce. The house sauce tasted like it had a bit of vinaigrette mixed into it so it had a sweet and sour kind of flavor. The black truffle cream sauce was definitely a winner! It went really well with the meat, and the truffle flavor was really strong.

And to our surprise, when we finished, they handed us a loaf of banana bread for dessert. 128561 perhaps they know their customers are full by this point, so they wrap it up for take-out when they give it to you.

All in all, we had a great time. We enjoyed some live music, had a delicious meal and enjoyed a nice, private dinner away (22 floors above) from the hustle and bustle of Ortigas. If you decide to eat here though, you should be prepared to spend a little bit (we spent about 3800), which makes it more of a special occasion restaurant. Will definitely return... Someday! 128516

As usual i was in charge of finding a suitable place for a formal business dinner.....

Heard some good reviews for Prime 22 and i noted that one of our guests was a carnivore ...and so was i hehehe

We reserved a table for 10 by the window and when we arrived were seated promptly on our reserved table.

The place was dimly lit and some christmas lights illuminate the whole room giving a romantic and comfortable ambiance.

You couldnt help to admire the window view giving you a birds eyeview of the ortigas district.

3-4 waiters attended to our orders and as it is known to be a steak house ,so we did get each our own protein poison.

I got a 28day dryed US Tbone thats around 350grams and ordered caesar salad and lobster bisque for starters.

The lobster bisque tasted a little salty imho and lacks lobster meat...however, presentation and quality may compensate for its shortcomings.

The steak was served in a wooden slab with asparagus and potato sides.

The medium steak was perfectly cooked and mouthwatering tenderness makes you salivate for more...

One comment though is that the cool temperature on our table makes the beef cool easily thus you have to finish it while its hot.

Overall the experience was great, food quality, serving size and price were acceptable...top it with superb service.

Our total bill for 10pax who had ribeye or tbone and 2bottle red wine ,several sodas was P24k

Around P2350++ per steak
Lobster bisque p395

One of my guests had a Discovery card and we got 20% discount leaving us only P20k to pay...

Will go back here again w the fam for sure

fine dining? this is the place. it is located at the 22nd floor of discovery suites hotel in ortigas (across podium mall). they have the the best steaks i have ever tasted--what i mean by best is melts-in-your-mouth-tasteful-best and best wine too. they'll let you choose up to three wines (free taste of course). the desserts are so-so but overall it has been a good experience.
tip: make sure your table is located near the window so that you could see the skyline of the metro :)

We celebrated our Third Year Wedding Anniversary here. The table reserved for us was strategically placed beside the huge windows where one can see the whole of Ortigas! Well, if that ain't romantic, I don't know what is!

Hub ordered the Surf n Turf (on pic) and he was all praises!

I had the lobster bisque which was perfectly tasty, and the Grilled Norwegian Salmon, huge serving, that one; and utterly delicious!

Always craving for Rib-Eye steak, the crazy couple decided to eat in one of the top 10 steakhouses in the metro. 22 Prime located at the 22nd floor of Discovery Suites, Ortigas.

To be honest, we were quite surprised when we saw the prices. The reviews we read on the internet stated that the Rib-eye steak only cost 1.2k, but hello! It’s 2.2k now. HAHA Oh well. With pure meat, you can never go wrong. :))

The ambiance was really great. The velvet curtains added to the place’s romantic feel. Waiters were also very attentive.

Perfectly cooked medium rare Rib-eye steak with two sauces of our choice. The waiter recommended we choose Forest Mushroom and Three Peppercorn. I liked Forest Mushroom better because the latter tasted a bit spicy.

It's a huuuuge chunk of meat - good for two even!

We'd definitely go back! :)

Obviously a great place to eat in, being in a hotel and all - but it also actually is one of the better steak places in the city.

Their Lamb Chops is one of the best I've tasted in the city as well - but I wouldn't say it's a good value - as you can get similar tasting/sized serving/presented from Buon Giorno for much, much cheaper.

Just like Antonio's, et all. This is really more of a "special occasion" place - where you'll be paying a premium for the assurance of not disappointing whoever you're with in terms of venue and food quality.

This used to be one of my favorite places to grab some steak. The place is nice. And being located on the 22nd floor of Discovery Suites, you get a great view...of Megamall. The service is awesome and still is. But their steaks seem to be slipping. They used to taste lovely but recently, it just hasn't been the same. Hopefully, they can get their steak mojo back soon.
