The first I ordered food instead of coffee here will be the best choice I made that day!

French toast was superb with a hint of cinnamon - 5/5!

And that

Chicken topped with melted cheese paired with Spaghettini in a Tomato Sauce! 128523 5/5 - it was the best of two worlds for me. 128536

6 years ago, I found it strange that a coffee shop would occupy such a vast space in Net Lima building. Apparently, it was Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s version of a full blown restaurant, a bistro if you may, serving filling, out of the norm, comfort food.

As soon as you sit, a waiter will woo you to indulge in some of their gourmet meals. You may still, however, walk to the coffee counter to order your choice of drink or dessert. Bring home some too if you wish.

I was just invited a week ago to take a glimpse of their newest menu. I guess the continuous growth of our local food industry now requires each establishment to be more relevant as much as they could.

I was with my girl friend, Mia and her sister, Myla. We were served familiar gourmet meals of different cuisines, and we all felt then the sheer effort to upgrade its taste in every sense.

We started with French Onion Soup, wrapped in loads of sour dough and mozarella. It was fitting to sip on a breezy night, best served hot so cheese won’t turn gummy. I also liked the balance of sweet and savory taste of its caramelized onions.

Mia’s ultimate pick of the night arrived next, a colorful plate of Vietnamese Shrimp and Pomelo Salad. This was strikingly flavorful, which explained why it was quite addicting to have, especially for her. The pomelos were well picked, as they were juicy and sweet.

USDA Garlic Steak was my go to! I adored the tender and well seasoned meat, which did not need gravy or any other sauce. If you, however, appreciate some spice like me, I suggest munching on the lightly cooked cloves of garlic on its side.

Myla, on the other hand, spoke volumes on how they created their version of American Macaroni & Cheese. It was as creamy as it can get, thanks to its three-tier combinations of provolone, mozarella and parmesan, all mixed up in generous al dente fusili pasta. It was masterfully sinful, so sharing it would be a superb idea.

We were also served non-greasy Truffle Fries. This ultimate side of choice could be good company while you enjoy 26th Bistro’s other offerings. Its taste will surely linger in your mouth!

Speaking of other choices, you can also treat yourself and your loved ones with their breakfast-feel, Chorizo & Egg Skillet, a ligther plate perhaps with Parmesan Crusted Sole or an Italian delight of Pesto Fusili with Grilled Chicken. We didn’t have these, but will surely have it on our next visits.

Of course, they also left behind classic favorites, such as Eggs Benedict with creamy Hollandaise Sauce, their comforting USDA Tapa, signature Rosti with Spanish Chorizo & Poached Eggs, and crowd-favorite Herb Crusted Salmon with Lemon Risotto.

And, don’t forget to leave room for dessert! We didnt, and so we had two slices of what’s new and what’s been there since the start cakes. I requested for the really rich, Ube Cheesecake while my companions enjoyed the Triple Decker Cheesecake. It had layers of mocha, oreo and New York style cheesecakes in one. Yuuuum.

Oh have the sweets with some beverage. I had Orange Juice while Mia, agreed to my recommendation of soothing African Sunrise Chai Tea Latte’.

Here in 26th S. Bistro, they believe that beautiful places spark creativity, great food energizes, and the perfect cup of coffee or tea helps inspire the extraordinary you.

26th St. Bistro by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Net Lima is located at the corner of 26th St. And 5th Avenue in BGC, while their newest branch, 26th St. Bistro by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Shangri-La East can be found at the East Wing on the 5th Level, of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Ordinary food. Not so good service.

127838🧀 GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH. Skip this one. Super toasted that you’ll have a hard time biting/cutting this one. 🙁

127839 FRIES. Masarap to! But you can get good fries somewhere else. Not worth visiting CBTL for. 127775

127837 PASTA. Sardines pasta was good (you can get this in all CBTL stores). The salmon pasta was just okay. Would be better with some lemon and more salmon.

🥗 PRAWN AND MANGO SALAD. Pretty okay salad. Prawns were kind of dry but the mangoes were sweet and the wasabi dressing was surprisingly tasty. But in terms of the price, not sulit. Bitin and there's nothing really really special that will make me want to have this again.

SERVICE. Since you're in the “mahal version” of CBTL (with service charge), I guess it’s normal to expect good service but sadly service wasn’t that great. Servers weren’t that nice and I don’t think they value the opinion of their customers that much. 128527128530

Special thanks to the wonderful people behind CBTL's Brew Your Best Year Community for another invite to one of their well thought out talks. This time in collaboration with WTN: Where To Next, they featured people to speak about their Life Stories: truimphs, struggles and explorations. Featured speakers for the night - Tom Graham, founder of MAD Travel PH and author of The Genius of the Filipino Poor, and Javi Cang, Filipino Mountaineer and Photographer. A night of talks with the Brew Community is not complete without a generous spread of CBTL's delicious food. Everything was served buffet style: Banana Bread with Chocolate Glaze, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Tuna Sandwich and Salami/ Feta Cheese Sandwich. All paired with their freshly brewed coffee. Everything was freshly made. I love the Banana Loaf paired with the coffee.

Lighting was a little dim though. A better set of lights is in dire need. I like the 'suhilya' chairs, gives the bistro that old world feel. Overall it was a night of inspiring talk over delicious food. Recommended.

I've always had a soft spot for the CBTL breakfast sets. So when we first moved to this building, I was excited to see it was opening within the month.

I was feeling the nostalgia this week when I decided to have my first major brekky of the work week here. This store isn't known for being quick with your orders.

Surprisingly, my Smoked Salmon Florentine came out fast - like around 15 mins! Kailangan pala Monday morning ka rito 128514 One of the two eggyolks were perfectly runny, the other bordering on soft boiled. I still loved them.

And because it's a 26th St Bistro, there is only one cup size and that is Humongous. My heart was still reeling from the caffeine well into the evening.

Had a quick dinner here last Friday. It was a slow evening kahit na swelday nun. I guess the place is really big so it doesn't look packed unlike their branch at Shangri-la EDSA. Kind of irritated that the server kept forgetting about a few requests. Would have been 5 stars had it not for the slow service coz this seafood marinara is sooo goood! The best I've had in a long while. I don't do pasta often kasi mejo nagsawa ako when we used to dine at Italianni's every week (company perk, client kasi namin ang Bistro Italianno). Now I'd wanna eat this again!

Free wifi, parking inside Net Lima or in front, near Craft/K pub.

Chicago Cheesecake is my favorite from CBTL but when hubby got this cake from his team for his birthday, it has been added to my CBTL favorites. Guiltless Chocolate Mousse!

Look at that gorgeous mess!

Thin layer of chocolate cookie crust, sugar free chocolate mousse and lots of dark chocolate shavings - gah! This one's so easy to love! Best consumed chilled, the mousse was velvety smooth and very rich in chocolate. It had just the right ratio of milk creating a luscious and toned down dark chocolate experience. It's not overly sweet and had this dark chocolate bitter end notes!

Super love 100841008410084

Friday.  I was operating with only 4 hours of sleep.  I needed something to perk me up.  Went to CBTL for my GTL fix.  This is the first time I saw the options they have for tea.  My gut went with Double Vanilla.

This is surprisingly good.  The marriage of vanilla and milk is perfect,  smooth and creamy.  I can't barely taste the tea though but I'm totally okay with it. This is the kind of drink that would calm the nerves, not scientifically proven but that's how I felt after my first sip.

Had the first sip of the newest Ice Cream Ice Blended drinks of CBTL last weekend! Met a new friend, too. Thanks CBTL for the invite!

You can also get a chance to try it at the Open House at any CBTL branches except the DLSU Henry Sy Library, CBTL Coffee Bars and 26th St. Bistro stores. Just present your Swirl Cards to get your free drink (from 11am-1pm)!

Or I think they're already available at all branches? Just check their Facebook and Instagram account! :)

I used to imbibe massive amounts of Caramel Latte during my nocturnal days.  I switched to GTL recently.  I was never fond of the frappuccino / ice blended variant.  Today is the day i go mainstream...

Free coffee c/o ze boss.  I picked GTF for some reason (that's Green Tea Frappe for the layman).  Refreshing,  perfect drink on a humid day.

I'll probably switch back to GTL on my next visit,  maybe frozen beverages ain't for me.

Sunday brunching with crafty friends! The place is really nice, with a full view of traffic along 26th and 5th. Few people dining so we had fun doing some arts and crafts while we brunch. I had Smoked Milkfish (P365) with coffee included. I love it! Generous amounts of tinapa and salted egg relish. I am not sure if the garlic rice was fried coz the garlic was topped only. Coffee was big with fresh milk and raw sugar. I really enjoyed it here. Servers were very accommodating. We actually stayed for 5hrs. 128513

This shot was taken on a Friday night (yes, i'm one of those titas daintily sipping coffee on a raging Friday night). Take note, this is usually brimming with people on other days. So drop by if you want a quiet Friday you introvert/ workaholic/ tito and tita.

Expect to pay a bit higher for the service fee as this is not a typical CBTL branch. But as always, CBTL never disappoints with its offerings. I've always said that CBTL has a good menu that allows you to stay the whole day whether you're looking for a strong tea to tide you over the night, a hefty lunch meal or a slice of cake to satisfy your cravings. Okay, I feel like an ad for CBTL but if you ask me, I've never been to one that disappoints.

This Coffee Bean branch is huge and spacious and has a great ambiance. It's also near a lot of good spots like Fort Strip and even High Street Central. We've been frequenting this branch since the husband works in the same building and we would always wait for him here.

One gloomy afternoon, I was feeling really down and needed some boost to get me going. I checked their menu and thought to get my all time favorite cheesecake - Chicago Cheesecake. I needed to pair it with a good drink because I already know how good this cheesecake was but not quite familiar with CBTL's drink selection. Not in the mood for coffee so I opted to check their tea selection. African Sunrise Latte sounded interesting and I haven't tried it so I gave it a shot and hoped that it won't disappoint.

My orders came and had my eye right away on the the cheesecake. Oh it was so good! It looks like your NY cheesecake but it isn't too tangy and it's a little lighter. I love the velvety texture and the not too sweet finish. Always hits the spot.

Then my African Sunrise. It came in a mug that was bigger than what I expected. Since it's a latte, it was served with froth and hefty milk portion. The smell was so good - aromatic and relaxing. It had notes of sweetness in it, more like honey, but nothing too overpowering. It also had notes of vanilla. It was so good! Like a warm hug of a good friend just when you needed it the most.

So, I asked the barista why it was called African Sunrise coz I was just curious and I would say that it's my new favorite tea latte and would try the plain hot tea version next time. I was told that the plain hot tea gives a reddish orange color that resembles the signature sunrise color in Africa. The barista also explained that the tea is an herbal infusion and so it's caffeine free! Nice!

Loved my stay here this afternoon but would still take out 1 star coz billing out in this branch is always a pain. I don't know why they take soooooo long.

Went to Coffee Bean in Net Lima with Cherienne to meet the hubby after a tiring walk during the last run of Gourmand Market. Cherienne wanted some Mango Shake and so we checked their menu and got their Ice Blended Mango. It took them a while to serve it and when it came, it looked so nice with a hefty serving of whipped cream on top. But then again it didn't taste anything like mango 128528 It tasted like errrr I don't know. Like maybe cream? With a hint of mango? So then I realized they could have used mango syrup of some sort. Even my daughter who is not so picky didn't like it 128529

One of the best looking CBTL's. Their food is really something I can cook at home. But we come here when we want a quiet breakfast. They're open early even on weekends. On Sunday's, you'll have the place almost to yourself. You'll have an almost unobstructed view (owing the the lack of traffic) of that beautiful mural by Bonifacio Arts Foundation and LeBasse Projects on the corner of 5th & 26th, across from this branch. We were lucky enough to see the artist duo Faile work on the wall last May. A lot of cyclists stop to have their photos taken there too.

Their Toblerone pancakes are the best sickly sweet pancakes you can eat. Food is just alright. Breakfast meals come with coffee or tea. Sadly they won't allow you to upgrade your tea to a latte. They don't allow you to plug your gadgets here.

I am channeling my inner Irene Adler and opted to get English Breakfast Tea Latte today. I've always loved English Breakfast tea and it is my first time to try the latte version.

I like it. Comfort in a cup. It tastes like milk tea - sort of.
