Forever favorite shawarma rice near my school. This has been a big part in my college life. I never get tired of it. Solid flavors every time. Love it.

I wasn't really expecting much. Prices are cheap though.

Alright, as someone who absolutely loves West Asian cuisines, I was surprised I didn't find out about Ababu earlier.

As the name says it, it's a persian grill but don't fret! The menu offerings were quite familiar with names like beef kebabs and shawarma. The price range starts as low as around 70 for a meal and up to 200, depending on what you want to go for (i.e. If you're getting full sides [onions, corn, tomatoes] or not).

For the food, it was alright. I got their chicken meal and it wasn't quite memorable for me. The herbs and spices were there but they lacked a certain pow. The garlic yoghurt sauce was free flowing though it also seemed to be missing some kicks.

However, what they lack in flavour, they make up in servibg size! I got a huge slab of chicken tons of rice + corn, tomatoes, & onions--- it was great. That was for around 150+ and it was super filling. Also, 40php for unlimited ice tea sealing the deal.

There are limited seats inside the establishment and I think it's popular among the students soooo best to try going there before or after regular meal times or during non-school days to fully enjoy the experience. The ambiance is simple and nice to have long conversations in while digesting their huge servings.

Place:
Aroma of grilled meat envelopes your nostrils as soon as you enter its air-conditioned premises. Restaurant is small, probably 4-5 tables that can accommodate 4 people each occupy the dining area. Cooking area can be viewed from the dining area as it's covered with glass. Restaurant design was simple, nothing fancy.

Food:
Shawarma Rice Plate - Meal includes deconstructed version of shawarma which has grilled meat, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, corn kernels, fried rice topped with sunny-side up egg and unlimited iced tea. Garlic sauce is served as a condiment on every table and not automatically mixed with the rice meal.

My friends found the shawarma delicious. I find the meat too dry, overcooked and a little bit salty. I was thinking maybe it because it was a Saturday night and there weren't a lot of customers. Hence, meat has stayed on the grill area for a long time. The meat was flavorful though.

Garlic sauce lacks the garlicky taste. It tasted like it's just salted mayonnaise sauce to me. It does not taste like garlic sauce at all. And that comes from a person who hates garlic.

Customer Service:
Nothing special. They were nice. Although since the area is small, the cooked shouted to ask us whether the extra order was for dine in or to go. He shouted impatient because it looked like he's been asking about it several times and we didn't notice him right away. It should have been asked by the servers so he did not have a hard time. Minor issue, but I felt I felt a little bit offended that time.

Overall:
I'd like to try it on a different day. Lunch time and check whether food tasted different.

Got their Chelo Kabab Kobideh rice meal combination. It comes with 2 sticks of charbroiled ground beef and grilled tomatoes, served with rice topped with butter. The beef is pretty good. It has that juicy taste in it, and the tomatoes to complement the meal. The grilled tomatoes give it a savory twist. 127813

My only complaint is that the place is kinda hot. They don't have aircon. Only a few fans. But the food is good! 128077

Serving Persian food with unlimited rice and iced tea for only about P100 only, Ababu Persian Kitchen can satisfy your belly in less than 10 minutes. However, don't expect a fine dining and great service with the rate that it is going.

Beef kebab rice meal! It had bottomless iced tea! He he he he 128527 the taste was okay 128076 but the first time i bit it, it tasted raw, maybe i wasnt used to the taste yet 128513 but overall good 128076

They use a hair dryer to make the fire on the grill stronger. I respect their resourcefulness 128588128077128513

128205P.S. I'm definitely eating here again. They have good food! But they should really work on their exhaust, the grill's smoke is smokin' up the place 128517128077

I usually eat here whenever I drop my brother off at his dorm. I get the shawarma rice every time. It comes with a pitcher of iced tea.

I never liked margarine in my food and you could tell right away just from smelling the corn that it has margarine and to my surprise, it doesn't bother me at all. I think it even makes it a bit more delicious.

I don't think you can park outside the restaurant. I am not sure! The restaurant rents a space in the building and there are two spaces right by the building's entrance big enough to park at, but I reckon it's for the tenants of the building.

Be careful of street thugs lol too as they might come up to you asking you to pay them for parking. Right.
