Bakit ang sarap ng fish crackers nila, we had 3 rounds of it. 128514 I want to get another round but I need to stop the madness.

We ordered:
Squid Tactics (250PHp) their calamares
Crispy Tadyang "D" Original (515PHp) sinfully good but you need to eat it while it's hot cause its pretty hard to eat after awhile.

So i met up with my two former officemates one evening to catch up and some good meal.

We ordered green mango and bagoong salad, bicol express and crispy tadyang d'orginal. Winner lahat! Most especially crispy tadyang and green mango and bagoong salad together. Kudos to the bagoong too and free kropek! 🤗

ABE in kapangpangan for friend. ABE resto is where GOOD FRIENDS dine. lol

We supposed to meet our friend who just had her civil wedding the other day. We were not invited coz it's just a simple celebration with the family and we're joining then on their church wedding. Due to an emergency, our newly wed friend wasn't able to join us. Our planned was to have dinner at Silantro, UPtown but due to heavy traffic we stayed at trinoma. We had our dinner here at Abe. We ordered the ff:

Green Mango and Bagoong Salad. Nothing Special about it.
Calamares. I liked it. Minimal coating and it's crispy. Loved the sweet and spicy sauce.
Lumpiang Pica pica. It's good. I'm surprised with the filling, I think it's a kalabasa puree..
Humba. It was ok, its tender
Binukadkad na Pla Pla. Served with Soy sauce and Buru. We loved dish, it's simple and loved the presentation.

Place was good. Service was so-so.

Back to my serious self! 128521

Had dinner with several "elders" last night...128513

It was an intimate group of 7, for a product presentation if you will... As I was with a group of older doctors, I couldn't exactly get the dishes that were served and take lots of pics... You don't let your elders stay hungry!!!128517 This is the prettiest one I snapped; though pinakbet is not one of their iconic dishes, it will have to suffice!128513

I don't eat in straight up Filipino restaurants that much, probably because it's something we all eat at home... So, unless I'm with a balikbayan, it's someone's particular request, or like in this case, invited, it wouldn't be my choice of cuisine... I'm not too knowledgable about Filipino restaurants, but Abe is a different story! It has been around for years, staying true to it's roots and their original menu... Simple, straight-forward and classic... Respect! 128077

We were served with a medley of their classics, in line with the night's theme... We started with the lumpiang ubod, very fresh... The Sinuteng Baby Squid made an appearance and was one of the night's favorites... baby squid sauteed with olive oil, garlic and aromatics but tastes great!128522

For our entrees, the pinakbet was served and I have never been keen on this dish... Do not take my word for it! 128513 The kare-kare was another crowd-pleaser, no frills but still prettt good... I also liked the crispy pork adobo, which was marinated and then fried... Sinful! But the STAR dish for me has always been the Binukadkad na pla pla... Butterflied and deep fried to perfection, served with balo balo (sort of like buro) and mustasa on the side... It's interesting to look at, difficult to dissect, and tastes really really good!128525 I don't really eat fish, but I LIKE this dish! That says something, believe me...

For dessert, we chose to share the leche flan, chocolate eh with fried suman, and the sikreto ni Maria Clara... The choco eh was weird... Everyone reacted negatively to that dense bitter chocolate fondue... We ended up asking the waiter to add sugar and milk, which did little to alter the taste... I did not try the flan, because I have always been contented with Maria Clara's secret... Mango and sticky rice hides underneath the generous serving of buffalo-milk ice cream... Again, simple and delicious...

Thru the years, Abe has maintained a high level of quality with their dishes... It feels familiar, perfect for Sunday lunch with your grandparents... You always know what to expect when it comes to the food and the service... 128588

This time we ordered Dinuguan, fried lumpiang ubod and suam. However, suam was not available and we were in a bend because I don't know what my son would eat. The waitress suggested sinigang but it would not taste great with dinuguan and we so do not want to order another viand. The waitress decided to give us a free bowl of sinigang soup. Yey for good service. The diniguan and lumpia also taste great! We also love the unli rice!!

Consistently good food. Our favorite, Arobung Kamaru, or crickets is sadly out of stock; possibly due to incessant rains of the past days. Pictured above is their Panga ng Tuna. Their Sampaloc Shake is one of a kind.

"Where good friends dine" 128111 and so mother took her friends here with us. Hahaha

I personally love their "ginataang segarillas" 127807
If you dont like veggies, I think you will like this one! 9786️ It's like the segarillas of Mangan but I cant tell which one is better! Can you? 128523

Anyway, I also love their other modern filipino dishes. The place inside looks like a Filipino home 128522 It was a nice experience!

Abe is our go to place when we just want to eat good food and again it did not dissapoint. We ordered the Knockout Knucles and Suam. Their crispy pata is heaven on earth. It was super worth it. Our baby loved their Suam.

Simple yet sophisticated, Abe is not one to miss. This is one of the proofs why we Filipinos should be proud of our own dishes.

I chose to share a picture of the Kare-kare because it was the star of the night, the best one I've had so far. I usually just ignore kare-kare, and I still did last night when this was served and got me saying "why does it look so plain and unattractive?" But for some reason, I did try it and good lord, I'm never ignoring kare-kare ever again if every such dish is as good as this. It was so tasty and somehow creamy, and the meat was so soft. The chef was spot on with the balancing of the flavors. Delicious, indeed! Thank you!

Next great dish was their toasted adobo which looked and tasted like crispy tadyang, though this one was more tender, and the toasting worked some fine outer texture, and softness inside.
(Sorry for the pretentious foodie review 128513)

Try also their bamboo rice! It's not just exciting and pleasing to the eyes but also, a delight for the taste buds. Likewise, the dilis rice was good.

We also had their sinigang na bangus with guava extracts. The guava was so tasty and it was a good flavor but after a few spoonful of the soup, it turned a bit distasteful. Maybe the guava flavor was too concentrated, but still good.

The sisig though, why? It was like it just came fresh from a "de lata" and it looked insulting because it was so little, and it was tasteless.

The gising gising too was so-so, nothing compared with the delicious gising-gising from Recipes by Café Metro.

We also tried their desserts - ube macapuno and turon which came out just fine. But the Avocado shake was delicious said my sisters-in-law.

In a nutshell, it was a good dinner with our own loved cuisine. The staff who served for us was friendly, and the place was cozy and lovely.

Maybe because we are often in this place... I was not satisfied with the tastes of the dishes.. The lechon cubano taste like the lechon served in carinderias and the skin was so rubbery. Plus servings seems to be getting smaller... Our orders and bill took so long to arrive.

Went here for lunch at Trinoma mall, i was suprised that even on a weekenday they were full. We ordered the baby squid, crispy pata and gising gising. And i was really blown away by the pusit. It was very juicy and there was no hint of lansa at all!! The crispy pata was great as well. Meat was tender and the skin was crunchy to the last bite.

Overall i loved my experience here and would go back again to try their other food. And oh before I forget they serve unlimited rice for only 65!!

Cost per head is around 500. 128522

Whenever we eat here in Trinoma, there are always these huge groups of people eating. Last lunch, I had the chance to be part of that huge group.

Despite being a group of 20, service was still as good as it could be. Granted there were drinks and desserts that arrived later, with the sheer number of people around they'd be hard pressed to keep track of everything.

Food was excellent as always, that crispy pata was especially delicious today. Also tried the gising-hiding which I surprisingly loved despite being a vegetable dish. Of course we ordered a lot more but those were my highlights.

For dessert we tried the mysterious Sikreto ni Maria Clara which was (a secret hehe) so good! The components of the dish worked well together and I'd probably game to order it again!

Forgot to take a photo. Ikr! Can't believe it myself, too! How could I? Haha

Anyways, aside from forgetting the photo.. I forgot their names, too! Hahaha fantastic! So, this will be a very informative review JSYK. Haha

The place was nice but the spaces were too close together, children will not be able to run around haha

The crew was very nice, I knew someone there pa nga. Awkward haha

The food were delicious! It was a Filipino cuisine with a twist! Worth a try!

We waited for about an hr just to get seated 128517I hope they expand and get a few space from CBTL. 128518128518128518

Backlog review since traffic here in Binondo is killer. As in exag. 2 hours and counting. So review na lang 128517

Had dinner with the family a couple of days ago and we wanted something Filipino so Abe came to mind.

Place is simple and lighting was dim so medyong nakakaantok. My main issue though is the place is a bit cramp. For big groups, I don't recommend this place (we were a group of 14 Pax). Service gets a little slow during peak hours as well. They need to fine tune on that.

As for the food, it's above average. But nothing foodgasmic. Although I distinctly love the crispy tanguige and the hito. Both were really good 128077

Price wise, it's a little steep bit not bordering on the obscene. It's a nice place to try but I'm not scrambling to go back anytime soon
