its been a while since i stayed in shang cebu- suddenly missed the place. Nothing beats shangrila eggs benedict ( only Fullerton Bay Singapore). Nice resto and excellent view and 5star service.

It has been months ever since the |ooloo crew came and hosted the very first |ooloo rendezvoos in the city. The thrill of meeting up other |ooloo reviewers as well as the team was an experienced I will never forget.

On one of the series of events they hosted, a particular dish I quite fancy is Acqua's Signature Dish, which is Filleto de Cernia alla Trapanese. 10084️ I can still remember the taste of this dish - soft and creamy-melt-in-your-mouth-fillet, dressed with tomato sauce, fresh basil and mint, the salted goodness of olives and capers combination made the dish so good! 128077🏻128077🏻 The plating itself was very simple yet it watered my palate curiously. A bite set fireworks in my mouth 128525.

The cherry on top that made the evening more special was Italian stories. Food and friends and lots of stories was always a part of Italian gatherings. Guilano's italian stories of food and travel came alive that night. For me, this what really made the event special - he truly was a great host that night. 128522

It's not everyday that I have family over here in Cebu, so as one of Christmas gifts to my parents and aunties and cousin, I treated them to lunch in Acqua. 128522

This Italian outlet in Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa has been serving only the freshest ingredients for food. Simple and tasty, these were definitely popular comments as we were having our lunch feast! 128516

I didn't order appetizers anymore because I know the place serves complimentary bread before the meal starts, with a tomato based spread. It was gooooood! The bread itself was delicious, and the spread made it even better. Bread paired well with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar too. 128522

The entrees all came at the same time, very accurate with the given estimated time of service. It was just a little over 10 minutes. 128077🏼

Here's our list of orders and how they faired under my tastebuds:
127844 Risotto con Gamberi - it was delicious! The rice was cooked perfectly, not too crunchy and not too pasty either. The taste of the prawns was pronounced, which I absolutely loved! 128516
127829Carbonara Pizza - this was our chosen white pizza. The pancetta on the pizza was perfectly crispy and not too greasy! Sauce was delicious and the cheese used tasted really fresh!
127829Romana Pizza - this had prosciutto, funghi and formagio, with a red pizza sauce. It was super delicious! My mother really liked this one!
127837 Tartufo Taglietelle - this was under their home-made pastas, with a truffle-mushroom sauce. LAMI KAAYO! 10084️ the pasta was al dente, and I honestly could tell it was freshly made. The sauce was fantastic! Aromatic and very flavorful, this mushroom pasta is just to die for!
127837 Lasagne - this household favorite is very different the ones I enjoy at home. This was heavy on the ragout (meat sauce) and almost no layers of cream. Would've liked more cream to balance out the flavors but it was still very delicious. It was the Italian type of tomato-based sauce, a bit more sour and all. Still delicious though, and I know Europeans would love this dish!
127830 Cottoleta - basically it's Italian breaded porkchop, served family style with side salad and mashed potatoes. This was awesome!!! 128525 Not too greasy, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! Really delicious!
127854 Tiramisu - ended our meal with their highly raved and recommended tiramisu, of course! It was the same amazing dessert I love, consistent and delicious! 128525

A sit-down dinner to remember!

My first ever SPONSORED #looloorendezvoos and it was totally ah-may-zing!

I have traversed the Visayan seas and heavy, world-on-my-shoulders traffic to finally experience Cebu's 5-star destination - hello, Mactan Shang!

I was glad to see Pea already warm and welcoming at the doorstep of Acqua! I was still a bit stunned by the whole situation, the rendezvous, me being late, finding the Italian restaurant in a huge resort on my own, haha but I couldn't help but already appreciate the restaurant itself. The interiors were so chic. Our dining area (they could name it "the |ooloo room" with a |ooloo sticker on 128514128514128514) was very intimate and private, perfect for exclusive family dinners or business meetings and I noticed a full stack of wine on one side. Quick refill, anyone?

Giuliano, the director for food and beverages, never ran out of words. He was so engaging making sure everyone's settled at the table. With Cassandra, Fiona and Gigi by his side, it was a full force.

We had greens for starters. The sun-dried tomatoes were so flavorful, almost an umami taste that I found my way in to appreciate it more as they were excellent for the salad. I was a bit hesitant to take a photo of what we were having but when Pea took her camera, yeah baby, let's shoot.

Ah yes, risotto was next. I loved it! The thick, parmesan sauce, the shrimp, yum! I still drool when I think of it, like right at this moment. In fact I didn't need the extra parmesan for flavor. Quick trivia, Odell was literally my cheat sheet as we were seated together. I had to sneakily wait for him to start with his dish before I did. So he forked his risotto but across the table, Roegan spooned it, I was relieved to use either. So I used both. Kidding. Haha! I forked.9996128586 I wanted to break the awkwardness and be a bit more spontaneous and relaxed but I was really up on my toes that night.128517

As for the main course, we had crusted grouper fillet (or 'just lapu-lapu' as Odell would point it out). It was delicious, I love the crust. I thought my white wine goes well with it but thanks to Nikki's encouragement to try the red wine plus the waitstaff's teasing, I found my fish the right partner. The waitstaff were attentive and quick, gliding through every course.

By this time I get to appreciate sit-down dinners. We had a hearty, filling, four-course dinner without feeling bloated at all plus a fun, group conversation. Learned a lot. Celebrity guests were the best part of our extended chit chat.

And for the star of the night, yes, it definitely was the Italian classic dessert, the Acqua tiramisu with almonds and amaretto liqueur. The crunch from the almonds, the smooth, creamy filling and the soft, spongy ladyfingers to dig deep into was delightful. Water was just fine with me but I was rather curious how it went with Nikki having coffee as a pair recommendation. It must be perfect.

That was, I believe, my first ever gastronomic entertainment. Wish we could've met the man behind the oral fireworks we just had.

We walked our way to the lobby with Adam Levine's 'Lost Stars' sung beautifully by Cebu talents (thanks Gino for the song title, I have it on replay 128525). We ended the night getting a whiff of Mactan Shang's signature perfume, the Shangri-la essence.

Delighted to have spent last fridat night for a 4 course dinner sponsored and held at Acqua as a continuation of our Looloo Rendezvoos in Cebu. It's a pleasure meeting the hardworking people behind Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa. We were warmly welcomed by Mr. Giuliano Callegaro, Director of Food and Beverage; Ms. Cassandra Cuevas, Ms. Fiona Escandor, and Ms. Angela Marie Calvo ( who happened to be a looloo reviewer as well)

Acqua serves easyy and simple Italian dishes. Italian dishes are known to use olive oils, fresh produce, a bit of alcohol from wines and herbs, so they are the healthiest food I knew. Apart from being healthy, Italians are passionate when it comes to food and I was astonished by Mr. Giuliano as he shared his experiences being a chef in some parts of the globe. While Giuliano entertained us with his worthy experiences, we were served with an antipasti Insalata Mista con Carciofine e Olive (mixed garden leaves with marinated artichokes,olives,oregano, and sun dried tomatoes in lemon vinaigrette) and freshly made pane (bread). Right there, I could taste its goodness from the salad. The vinaigrette did not outdo the taste and freshness of the greens. The olives and the marinated artichokes simply complement the greens.

When we hear Italian food, we tend to think of pasta right? Did you know that they also got rice as well? Yes, they got rice in a form of risotto. Risotto is an italian rice dish with a creamy texture. Acqua let us indulged with their Risotto con Gamberi Profumato allo Zafferano (Arborio rice with saffron, prawns and parmesan). Heavenly is so mainstream and I couldn't find a word to best suit the taste of their risotto. One thing is for sure it will make you crave for more and I would not mind if it will take me 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours ride from the city (if with traffic) just to have their risotto. The best way to experience Italian dining is to have a wine to go along with the course. For the risotto we had a crisp white wine (too bad I wasn't able to get the name of the wine but that was so so good that I had 2 glasses of it or maybe 3 oopss).

In most Italian dishes, fish is also a staple food due to its regions near the Mediterranean Sea. For our main course, we had their signature dish Filleto di Cernia alla Trapanese (Grouper fillet in Mediterranean tomato sauce with olives, capers, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil and mint. The fish was succulent and it goes well with the sauce. With the addition of the fresh basil and mint, it gives a subtle flavor of the fish. It was paired with a red wine.

For the last of the 4 course dinner, we had a dessert so dear to us, Tiramisu. Acqua Tiramisu is served with almonds and amareto liqueur. I love the presentation of their Tiramisu on a cup with toppings of toasted almonds and a small stem of mint; it looked like a small garden in a cup. When you dig in the Tiramisu, the smooth textured and divine mascarpone will make you want for another cup.

The prices at Acqua are affordable compared to other Italian restaurants, because they want everyone to experience their sumptuous food. Starting at 700++ php per person for an ala carte menu is not bad because of its excelent and top notch dining experiences they offer, and of course for the great food that they'll be serving. The staff will greet you with their warm and genuine smile and you can really see from their faces that they are happy to have and serve you. The interiors were enticing as well. Indulge yourself for a unique dining experience here when you'll visit Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa. Over all, I had a superb and unforgettable dining experience at Acqua. We had an awesome and fun filled looloo rendezvoos and I do hope for more Cebu looloo rendezvoos soon. Thank you so much to Giuliano, Cassandra, Fiona, Angela of Shangri-La Mactan. This Tiramisu is divine! 128525 Every inch of it tasted like little spoonfuls of heaven! The sweetness was just balanced, but the mascarpone doesn't mute the coffee flavor and the amaretto liqueur gave it a smooth finish. It was super omagawd amazing! 128517

The food is delectable, the ambience is inviting, Had breakfast buffet here on our second day stay instead of Tides because it is cozier. Most in-house guest of the hotel go to Tides for breakfast. So Tides can get very busy. Acqua is situated very close to the beach and has far less crowd. Enjoy a quiet meal here near the beach and you also have an option to dine al fresco by the pool, though food offerings are much less than at Tides, I think the unhurried pace and more personalized service makes up for it.

The food selection was sufficiently broad in range and appetizing. The quality of food was also good. Two forks up for this restaurant! But Manila shangrila breakfast buffet are still by far better

Free bread with tomato salsa was better than the main course we ordered which was the margehrita pizza. The pizza was a bit bland but the texture (it being thin crust) made it better. Plus, we used the tomato salsa from the free bread, since it was soooo good, as added topping for the pizza. P350 for 8 regular sized slizes - so I guess price is average.

The price can be a bit steep, but this should be expected in a hotel. We ordered the margherita pizza with extra toppings of bacon and mushroom. Craving satisfied. The arriabata was not that spicy though. I forgot to ask if I needed to specify how spicy I wanted it. The staff are pleasant and accommodating, and even gave us complimentary dessert for our anniversary.

Well what can i say? Its shangrila! So no need to tell u their food is always d best. Too bad their tides restaurant was goin under renovation i was hoping to indulge in a hearty buffet . Meanwhile here in their acqua resto still was a treat. I had their seafood soup and beef tenderloin and it was amazing! I had mine well done nd still d beef was so soft. Yum. Eventhough the serving wasn't as big as i hoped for (due to the price), still i was soooo full :) burp

Shangri-La Mactan's Italian restaurant has a fine selection of authentic Italian dishes. The Chef's specialty, Green and White Fettucini with shaved ricotta cheese and Parma ham in a butter sauce is a delight to the taste buds and a sin to the hips! The breakfast buffet also does not disappoint. Bueno!
