We celebrated our anniversary here, called up the resto for reservation and asked them for a few help like if they can order flowers for me since my work is too demanding.

Anyway, aside from the mushy thing they setup a special table for us and we feel very special.

The food was so delicious and the servings are of high quality.

Alphaland is just near where my aunt lives and whenever we meet, she would always say that we should try this place the next time we meet. Finally, the "let's try this place" happened. Dinner w the single titas + Ony here at Akira. 127884

We loove love Japanese food but Akira was never a part of my must try Jap resto list. There used to be an Akira branch in BGC but I never had the chance (and will) to try it before it closed for good. Good thing, they still have other branches!! 128517

For all 5 of us, we shared the following:

Kani Pomelo Salad
The Kani Pomelo salad was just okay, generous serving of pomelo but the whole salad itself was sad? There were too many ingredients used but didn't worked well together.. there's something missing. And the dressing was not enough to cover and coat everything.

Blow-Torched Maki
Salmon, Tuna, Kani, Cream Cheese, Mango, and Miso Mayo. Sobrang daming laman, I can already imagine how good it would taste. But with that much expectation.. The make fell short. No burst of yummy goodness. Just like the salad, it was lacking. 128546128552

Seafood Yakisoba
This was surprisingly good. I don't usually like ordering Yakisoba because I don't enjoy it and parang "pancit canton" lang! Nothing special. 128517128518 But apparently, I was wrong. It was nice that they don't limit you with just few pieces of tiny tiny shrimps because they really add a lot of toppings! Lots of seafood -- like squid, shrimps, and lots of veggies! 128077🏼 The noodles were cooked perfectly and the whole dish was just tasty and very filling.

Chicken Teriyaki
Usual chicken Teriyaki. The chicken was huge and juicy.

Pork Tonkatsu
Just like the chicken, usual pork tonkatsu. The pork was thin and very tender. Both the chicken and pork were served with side salad. 128513

They were all just okay. Hmm, pwede na. Usual Jap food.. nothing super overly extraordinary. And kinda expensive, too. 128517 But if there's something super overly extraordinary with this place.. It's the service!! Service was excellent! Really! 128076🏼 The servers were all attentive, you really get the feeling that they really want to serve you well and that you will have a good experience while dining here. 128513

Akira invades Makati...spotted and bought a couple of vouchers from a group buying site (again)! A very good deal @50% off ... (P500 for P1,000 worth of food... and no limit to the number of vouchers used) Doesn't get better than that! 128536128525

The restaurant is located in Alphaland Makati Place along Ayala Avenue corner Malugay....Basement parking available even on Sundays 128512

Not too many diners on a rainy Sunday which is good as it means faster service 128512 We started off with :

* Sesame Tuna Tartare Salad @308 -- loved it.. tasty sesame dressing and they didn't scrimp on the tuna

* Chawanmushi -- Steamed Egg custard P138

* Scallop Teppan -- seared on the Teppanyaki @328 (6 pcs)

* Akira Roll -- Their signature sushi rolls @348 (6 pcs) -- Kani, Softshell topped with Tempura bits, grated cheese, spicy mayo and Tobiko

* Blow Torch -- another one of their best selling rolls with raw fish and cream cheese @309

* Mixed Sashimi -- Ebiko, Tuna, Salmon, Ika, Uni, Tamago, Unagi and Hamachi @628

* Mushroom Foil Yaki -- assorted mushrooms cooked in foil. I loved this dish! it was tasty and unique 128156 @268

* Ebi Teppan Bento -- served with miso soup, sashimi, salad and fruits 128077 @648

Overall a very good dining experience 128077 Service was ok too.. So Why only 4 stars?

* Was really turned off that there were flies hovering around, asked for candles but super pasaway the flies... for a classy restaurant, that's a big turn off 128563128561

* Hamachi was not available for our mixed sashimi and that's my favorite 128545 They failed to inform us beforehand ...

I would come back in a heartbeat if they came up with another promo deal...128513 Without my half off vouchers, this lunch would have cost an arm and a leg 128514

Good quality Japanese food if you wanna get your fix of Japanese cuisine. Enjoyed the generous serving of the executive bento box meal, I had the Salmon Teppan, which was cooked really well. Ambience was also great since it was co-designed with Kenneth Cobonpue.

Ambiance: Cozy and modern. Since they have teppan - smell might stick on your clothes.

Service: was ok - negative part was ordered mixed sashimi but didn't inform they didn't have hamachi and uni. Returned and asked for an order of salmon sashimi but didn't arrive.

Food:
Mixed sashimi - returned due to reason above
Beef teppan bento - big ass bento also comes with miso soup. Beef teppan was cooked right. It has salad, chicken karage, tuna & salmon sashimi, dilis, pickled veggies, 2 slices of watermelon and a slice of orange and rice.
Blow torch roll - don't really know which was blow torched
Akira roll - kani roll with some added decor
Ebi tempura - your standard tempura, thick batter that makes the tempura go limp when dipped in sauce.

Food was a little bit pricey; ok quality.

Goodbye dinner #2, with my closest office friends: Akira

These Japanese food are on the expensive side but I think it would still be worth every peso when you're celebrating something. Everything we ordered was good. Serving is good for 1-2.

* Not sure if this promo is still available: You can get 10% off your bill if you can show a BPO-company ID.

Akira's bento is humongous! I tried their tempura bento when I visited their newest branch. Servers were helpful and pleasant and i got a good serving of Japanese cuisine. It's a bit pricey though.

Tip: don't order any additional appetizer if you wish to get the bento!
