Was in the mood for some Japanese food, my husband and I decided to eat here. Since we cant really decide on what to get we both ordered a bento box meal. I ordered a tempura bento and he ordered an ebi teppan bento. At first you would think that the portions mag be small buy their bento box is just enough. My tempura bento has 3 side dish, some salmon and tuna sashimi, salad, chicken karaage, mixed tempura. My husband pretty much had the same expect of course the tempura he got the ebi teppan. Plus we had a house tea and miso soup.

I guess it is just the exhibitions that make it wow like the tricks they did while cooking your food was pretty impressive! Fun to watch! but food wise it was just so-so. Some were a hit and some were a miss.

Hit: Salmon Teppanyaki. Fried Rice. Akira Iced tea. Salmon Aburri

Miss: Seafood Ramen. Tonkatsu.

There is a promo for BDO card holders. For every 2k spent free Seafood Ramen

We also got a free dessert cause it was my cousin's bday that was pretty goood! It was their Mango Flambe.

Service was pretty good.

Rainbow rolls for the win! I also love their us tenderloin teppanyaki. Soft and chewy gooey.

Staff are friendly and will cater to your needs. Place is medium sized with options to sit at the regular table, teppanyaki table or smoking area. Price, a wee bit expensive imho but the quality of the food is worth it.

We finally tried Akira in Robinson's Magnolia. Upon checking the menu I was intrigued that they had premium meat choices like Matsusaka, Kobe, & Wagyu.

We finally decided to give in and ordered the All Meat Teppan priced at Php3,048. Quite a splurge for a regular Sunday dinner since we ordered 4 other dishes as well but the other dishes were good so we were hopeful.. Big mistake.

The moment the All Meat Teppan was served, I was already skeptical of the quality. At first glance, we can see huge chunks of fat on the plate, serving was really small vs the menu (perfect example of false advertising) and it was cooked well done. We were never asked for our preferred doneness and my mistake was I failed to specify that it should be medium well. When we tasted the meat, it was obviously overcooked and not so fresh anymore. The tenderness wouldn't pass the quality of wagyu standards at all. It just felt like regular local beef. Only 1 of the 3 varieties of beef was tender but still nothing to rave about. We complained and asked if we can just replace it with other dishes. Instead we were offered that the chef cook it again to remedy the tenderness! Obviously there was nothing else that can be done to make it more tender especially since it is overcooked already! They didn't allow us to replace the dish. We asked if we can just return it and they charge us the % of food that was consumed. This too was denied. Finally since we had no choice but to pay for the whole thing, we requested to just replace the pure fat pieces into meaty ones. This was also denied because apparently the meat arrives in their restaurant pre-cut and pre-packed. And so I think this is the major cause of the problem. The meat has probably been kept in their freezer for a long time and for obvious cost cutting reasons, it was mixed in with bad parts and pieces. Needless to say we were very disappointed and the only consolation that we were offered was a free dessert of ice cream with banana fritters. 128530 Soon after, the manager returned and told us their area head was going to offer us 10% off the total food bill. If only we didn't order that dish, we probably left the restaurant a little bit happier. So future diners be warned! Don't order their premium beef dishes or you'll just waste your money and truly regret it.

If one were to go in Akira with just another person, expect your bill to be pretty pricey! This happened to me when I tried Akira in Shang and we weren't even on a teppanyaki table. Good thing the second time I went to Akira in Robinsons Magnolia, I was with my family! 128106 Meaning, YAY teppanyaki table!

I've always wanted to try the teppanyaki table and I went for it this time since I wasn't the one paying. 128586128556 If you are going to visit Akira, the teppanyaki table is a must-go to. Not only do you see your food get cooked right in front of you, but you also see the chef do tricks here and there. The picture in this review is actually the heart-shaped fried rice that the chef prepaped for us. He was even making the heart "beat" by moving the spatula.

In the end, I thought that we were gonna end up with a really expensive bill but the amount to be paid per person ended up being cheaper. 128550

Got people who want to try something new and eat good food? Bring them to Akira! 978610084

Their executive set has to be the biggest bento box I've seen so far. For almost 600 pesos, the salmon teppan set is relatively sulit - comes with appetizers, sashimi, miso soup, a side salad, karaage and fruits. (Order the salmon, avoid the bland chicken teppan.) Another good option is the Akira roll - their fresh take on the ubiquitous California maki.

Apart from their overpriced menu, i wouldnt want you to overlook this modern japanese restaurant. Recently opened a few months ago at Rob Magnolia, this place is quite nice.

Tried their salmon teriyaki bento box and i must confess, i was a happy kid indeed! 128523128077
Finally being able to try a not so authentic (by authentic i meant i was looking forward to trying those japanese home made ones!9996128513)

As you can see very well in the photo, its heaps in serving. So each bento comes with a standard miso soup, chicken karaage, some side dish of pickles, tuna and salmon sashimi, some cabbage salad with sesame dressing, and ofcourse some fresh fruits like orange and watermelon for dessert.. Nothing beats having a COMPLETE meal in one sitting.. so this place actually deserves a nod and a try once in a while if some of you are willing to splurge 580-800 pesos for a bento.

The restaurant price range would be around 400-1000+. Oh, and service was quite good.

Oh and they also offer sake. 9996128522

Originally wanted to have Ramen for lunch; unfortunately Ramen Nagi hosted a press conference and will be open to the public in the afternoon. Well, I can't punish myself to starve for hours, waiting for them to accommodate us. Haha 128513 Sooo, we checked |ooloo for some good restaurant options. (**ads **ads **ads- woohoo9996️)
Decided to try Akira Japanese Restaurant 128523
They serve Japanese cuisine with good serving size and the place is nicely decorated with Japanese paintings and ornaments.
We tried Executive Bento and... Tada.. Bloated!!! It includes Chicken karaage, some sides, sashimi (if I'm not mistaken 128521), some fruits, soup, mixed vegetable salad, Japanese Rice and your choice of viand. I chose Chicken teppan, and it was kinda bland for me. Its not dry or pan fried; sauce is somewhat sour. While regretting my mistake, my friend enjoyed her Grilled Salmon executive bento. Fresh salmon with sweet barbeque-like sauce128512. IMO, it's a bit pricey for 500+ because though I was full, I wasn't delighted.

It claims teppanyaki and sushimi are their experties.. I tried their executive bento... It was their soft opening that week.. Fully occupied. Had to wait around 10 minutes before I got seated.

I ordered grilled salmon executive bento plus blue velvet smoothy.

The executive bento: the box was about 25% longer than my forearm... Contains rice, karaage, salad, miso soup, appetizer, sashimi (salmon 3 cuts and tuna 2 cuts), slices of fruits, and your order of choice... Yeah, it was getting what you've paid for. The place was not yet fully 'done' cause there sre still parts 'under construction'

Staff were quite courteous but not exceptional. Good at explaining their menu though... Fast service too.. Take note, their cocktails were not yet ready cause they're having a difficult time completing the ingredients daw.

Mocktails available.. However, decided to take blue velvet (blueberries) it was milky.. Light... The thing is... They used paper straw... PAPER. Imagine drinking with that rough feeling at your mouth.. And eventually the straw becomes useless,.... Forceful drinking. How i wished i could have used a plastic straw..

Nevertheless..

500 plus for the bento, 128 i think for the drink
