Nothing special. Would choose Kimpura over this anytime. Our bill was P10k for a group of 10. Would have enjoyed more at Kimpura. Service needs improvement too.

Personally, my judgement of Japanese restaurants all come down to their Ebi Tempura.

To be quite honest, while it wasn't 90% batter and 10% shrimp like a lot of the Japanese restaurants around, it wasn't that great... It was ...okay. 128556

The Akira California Roll (in photo), the Fried Rice, the Steak and the Miso Soup made up for it though! And the A+ service of the staff! We were there during lunch, table of 10, and there were at least 4 other tables, but they made sure that there was someone attending to us the whole time. Plus, we were seated at the Teppanyaki table and our chef was amazeballs, he had so many tricks hehehe.

Overall it was a fun time for my family and I! We'd definitely come back 128523

They have lunch buffet for less than 700php that includes refillable iced tea which is really tasty and refreshing..
My japanese pal said their selection tasted like an original jap food.

Wifey was hungry and chose the restaurant. She was craving for sushi do she chose akira.
We Ordered '3 rolls... One was crunchy oyster, spicy salmon, and one has kani. I Should really make an effort to get the proper names!
All the makis are good. Good portion of rice to fish etc! It's just me but I'm partial to simple sushi and sashimi compared to Japanese mayo makis! But I'll Definitely be back!

Loved everything that we ordered. Prices were okay since servings were good for sharing. Courteous and friendly staff.

Got a table outside the Resto due to the smoke coming from the tepan table.

The prices are higher than most places but luckily there was a 15% discount for JCB card holders when we ate here. We were 8 so we ordered 2 beef Teppanyaki sets and 2 salmon Teppanyaki sets. The show was worth the price an the food is quite good too.

The only downside to Akira is the service. Straightaway you can tell that apart from the Teppanyaki chef, the staff aren't so well trained. One of the waiters even dropped a glass of water on my dad, who was luckily in a good mood. Would've given them 4 stars otherwise.

Wagyu Ramen. Nothing special. Was excited of the wagyu beef, but there were only 5 small portions of wagyu beef in the ramen 128546

I was reading my own review of Akira the other day and I thought I should have lunch there soon. So I did.

I ordered the Tonkatsu ala carte for PHP218, plain rice for PHP45 and bottled water for P68 (!!!).

First of all, I am pissed with the bottled water. It was only a 500ml Wilkin's. I know Wilkin's are more expensive than the likes of Viva and Summit but PHP68, are you kidding me? I was expecting a little bit fancier.

Second, I realized that a Tonkatsu ala carte is also good for sharing, especially if hindi ka malakas kumain (aka me). I ate about 3 out of the 5.

I think PHP218 is quite cheap if you're not gonna order some extras, or share with someone. But since I ordered extra things, the bill still came out above PHP400.

First impression of Akira would be the very exquisite design of the Japanese restaurant. One would stare at the unique lightings above and Teppan areas. Next would be the entertainingly skilled chefs cooking the teppan dishes with daredevil moves with eggs, utensils and more. Had the Akira Roll (P348), Blow-Torched Maki (P309), Kani Pomelo (P248), Bento Salmon Teppa (P568) and Akira Iced Tea (P99.00). The maki and rolls were just awesome, the burst of flavors just mixing in your tastebuds after consuming it. Kani Pomelo was surprisingly enormous and filling. The Bento Salmon even had its own appetizers, an extra chicken (which was heavenly even without the sauce) and dessert (2 kinds of fruit127818127817). The portions were sufficient for 2 people. Another huge surprise was that the ice tea was refillable (was trying to save it until the amiable staff replenished it)127865. Water was served and refilled promptly. Presentation of the food we're creative just to add. Only minor observation this critic had was that the house tea had to be requested and that we weren't informed that the bento box already had salad in it. Still, everything was delightful, place was elegant and staff were respectful and pleasant. Can't wait to try/experiment with their other dishes. Another great alternative to an impressive Japanese resto namely Sakura, a personal favorite of yours truly.128077128077

Tempura was a bit underwhelming. But the highlight was the generous serving of Uni Sashimi!

Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Roll + Tonkatsu. Tasted mediocre but 'pwede na' for a quick Japanese dinner for two (who were in a rush to catch a movie) 128566 Bill was P520.00 for these. Not sure if I'd come back to try other dishes, though.

The Akira Roll--Enjoyed this roll so much, I almost forgot to take a photo and write about it! Flavors burst in your mouth. You can taste every ingredient: the soy, garlic, tempura, cream cheese, kani. Supposed to be soft-shell crab topping but they ran out, so it was replaced by ebi tempura bits. It comes in spicy mayo too. As Gordon Ramsay said in an episode of Masterchef US: It's a party in your mouth. The rest of the food was standard though: ebi tempura, yakisoba, salmon miso yaki. It was good, but it seems I've had better.
