Alexei is one of my favorites in Marikina. The place is sweet and cozy, they have a big parking space and of course the food is great! 1008410084 The price is very reasonable as well, you'll get more than what you paid for. 10084 Taco Salad and Sun dried tomato pasta FTW!

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday lunch. We arrived Alexei’s at around 1pm and parking spaces were available. We then entered the diner and found it empty. A few groups then started coming in after we sat down, although not enough to make the diner too busy and noisy.

The two-floored place is quite cute, with all the simple and retro decorations. I also found a small, separate room outside the restaurant, which I believe is for catering small groups. The diner also shares a space with an auto center (I guess there is only one owner for both the shop and the diner), which kinda explains the numerous car magazines in the diner’s book rack (that my boyfriend enjoyed).

Their menu is so adorable! That's what we thought before we really pondered on what to have for lunch. We then decided on ordering their grilled porkchop, beef tapa and chicken longganisa.

Grilled Porkchop P195
The porkchop was okay. It wasn’t as tender and easy to cut, but it was good enough for the price. It was served with garlic rice and gravy. I wasn’t too happy with the dish, because the porkchop lacked a little flavor and the gravy wasn’t able to rescue it.

Chicken Longganisa P140
This was more of a deconstructed longganisa – it wasn’t placed in a “wrapper”. It was also just okay, although I found it really flavorful. It was served with an egg and garlic rice.

Beef Tapa P145
Their tapa was served with garlic rice, an egg and a tomato vinaigrette. I actually found the beef tapa flavorful and sweet on my first few bites. At first I thought I liked it that way, but I then realized that the sweetness of the tapa was very strong. I tried using the tomato vinaigrette to counter the sweetness of the tapa, yet it was of no help.

They also have some pastries and coffee, perfect for those who just want a quick and lite snack break.

The food here is very very reasonably priced. Actually, we found it cheap since the serving size wasn’t bad as well. Service was okay, and the ambiance was nice, especially outside where the picnic table is. You can check my photos for you to see. The place also has a clean restroom.

I will come back to try their burger, as I think this is a must-try. This is based from what I've read from reviews. I also heard the other customers order this to take home. Too bad I wasn't in the mood for a burger during our visit.

Sisig Chronicles. Day One.

I've been craving for sisig for x number of days. We went to Alexei for some grub. Ordered Porky Sisig and some rice. I was starving, i finished my meal in less than 15 minutes. The sisig was just okay, not the crispy kind. Gerry's Grill is still king.

Alexei Diner.  A small restaurant hidden in along Gil Fernando Avenue. A stone throws away from where he lives.  This is one of our go-to places when we are in need of quick grub.

The plan was to go to UPTC to have dinner at Silantro and have some dessert at Rocky Mountain.  The beastly weather changed our plans and we decided to have dinner within the area.  We initially went to Sallianos - Italian Restaurant relatively near Alexei.  We got a table and browsed at the menu.  I wasn't feeling it.  Whenever i go out,  i gauge the vibe of the restaurant during the first few minutes.  Some gets  me giddy and makes me wanna eat asap,  some makes me feel like i am at home,  while some is just blah.  That's how i felt at Sallianos.  We decided to transfer.

Alexei adapted the American Diner Concept except that the menu is not condusive to the typical diner grub.  They offer pasta,  rice meals,  sandwiches,  burgers,  appetizers,  milkshakes and frozen coffee drinks.

We ordered the following:

Bolognese
Alexei Burger
Taco Salad
Strawberries and Cream Milkshake
Vanilla Milkshake

The pasta is mediocre.  Good to satisfy pasta cravings.  It lacks the strong tomato flavor that i prefer.  The noodles is cooked al dente and there is generous amount of sauce.  This dish could use a little flare by adding herbs and chili flakes.  I finished the my plate,  nevertheless.

The burger though is a different story.  It reminds me of Brothers Burger.  I swear it tastes like BB!  I guess it has something to do with how they make the patty,  the bun or the marinate.  And you know what is the best part,  it only costs php 150.

The milkshake is such a letdown.  The strawberry tastes artificial.  It wasn't as smooth as i want my milkshake to be.  I cant help but compare it to Udderly Delicious.   I took a sip of his milkshake,  for some reason this one tastes better.

The taco salad is also good.  Generous amounts of white abd cheese sauce,  meat,  veggies and salsa on the side.

I am giving Alexei 4 stars because of my affinity with their burger.  The rest of the dishes is mediocre.

Went here last night with Khirsten L. There was never a time that we didn't get appetizer lol We had Chubby Cheesesticks for starter, I got Shrimp Salpicao for entree while she got the Eastern Fried Chicken. The cheesesticks were really chubby haha and to me, they kind of have like a nachos taste- i'm not really sure if it's because of the breading or it was just all in my mind cos I was pretty hungry too lol Not bad though I liked it but Qizia's cheesticks would still be my favorite hehehe! The Shrimp Salpicao was good too and they didn't scrimp on the shrimps which I like :P However, the Eastern Fried Chicken was my least favorite. It was a sweet breaded fried chicken served with oyster sauce as it's gravy. Well, I just like the usual brown gravy or sweet and sour sauce on chicken lol And finally for dessert I had a yema cupcake. Yay who doesn't love desserts??? It was delicious. Maybe i'll give Alexei's a 7 out of 10 128522

If you want a place just to hang out with your buddies, I mostly recommend this place. A coffee shop intended for you and you friends to have a good time, Alexei's is the place.

A coffee shop that has a garden type design outside and a high class output inside. A place where you can hangout with friends, for a casual meeting and maybe for your study groups.

The food is quite awesome, varying with the picture its very very very satisfying! It's quite cheap so goodluck in eating everything that looks and sounds scrumptious.

I highly recommend the Fish n Chips (170php), the Taco Salad (165php), there signature Alexeis Burger (150php) and the Banoffee Milkshake (145php).

So nexttime you wanna hang out with your friends or just near around Marikina and craving for some comfort food, better trying eating at Alexei's a must try.

Comfort food at its finest!

The ambience of this place is really homey and comfy. It's nice to tag along your family and friends here for a hang-out.

Their food are cheap yet with quality servings. We ordered the Potato Wedges (cheese dipping is really good), Taco Salad (the huge serving surprised us and the beef tasted really fresh and delicious) and the Fish and Chips for appetizers.

We ordered their Triple Whammy Burger (with burger patty, bacon and omelette) and it's good for 2-3 people already if you have other orders.

For desserts, we had the Vanilla and Banoffee Milkshake. Each glass can be shared by two and the taste was really good too.

Definitely coming back, again, and again, and again.

Bacon alfredo was good. A little pricey, but the antique ambiance is cool. Though, I think we caught them a little unprepared - came in a few mins before 11AM and no one was around. 128522128522

Enjoy 75% cacao goodness for P105!

This bitter-sweet concoction of a Choco Tart melts in your mouth. Chocolate is smooth and the crust doesn't crumble when you slice through the piece. You get a morsel of both the filling and the crust in one bite. Perfect with coffee! :)

They ran out of my favorite Yema Cupcake! :( almost all the tables were taken when I got there and they all probably took a cupcake or two that's why they ran out! Waaaaa!

To avenge my craving, I ordered the Choco Tart (P100). And what a sweet revenge it was! With 62% cocoa, the chocolate melts in your mouth. I forgot I was having coffee until I was half way through the slice! I think I've found a gem. I just hope other patrons don't discover this, or else I'll have tons of competition (again)!

I highly recommend this for (dark) chocolate lovers like me!

Yes, I'm having dinner here again. For starters, I ordered my favorite salad: Sweet Summer Salad (P195). It's lettuce leaves tossed with shrimp, cucumbers, tomatoes and sliced peaches. Served, on the side, with strawberry vinaigrette.

If you're counting calories, you might rethink using the dressing. :) While it is vinaigrette, don't be deceived. It's sweet and thick! I'm sure it's loaded with sugar. But, I'm not on a diet (though I probably should be) so I don't really care. Hehe

This salad is light and fresh... Yes, just like summer. The shrimps were still warm when they served it to me; lettuce was crisp and the peaches firm and had the right amount of sweetness to it. You can skip or just drizzle small amounts of the dressing if you prefer.

Overall, it's good! It's one salad I keep coming back to every time I come here. :)

Tucked behind high concrete walls is this very charming cafe. We're so used to it that it feels like home. What led me to this place was their Yema cupcake (P45) It's chocolate cupcake topped with Yema frosting. Yummy! But I didn't order this today. Instead, I tried their (new) mocha cupcake (P65). Too sweet for me though. But I'm sure kids would love this.

Their seafood chowder is one of my favorites. Hot, creamy and very filling. Perfect for a rainy day such as today.

My friends kept telling me to try the grilled chicken sandwich. I did that today. Unfortunately, no fireworks there for me. I don't know why, but I guess my palate wasn't up for anything grilled today. :)

Another must try: Pork Barbecue Ribs (P250) , Grilled Pork Chop (P185) and the Taco Salad - good for sharing (P165).

This place is a great venue for meetings and group or family gatherings. They have secure and ample parking. You can choose to eat in the comforts of an air conditioned dining area or al fresco. They recently added a table underneath the Balete tree. No, it's not creepy looking. It's kinda nice...relaxing. I'm waiting for the owner to add a hammock. Hehe

Great venue, good and reasonably priced food... And did I mention they have free wifi? ;)

Got to know this place because of my bff so I brought my bro and his son for dinner. Place is cozy, good for family gatherings and friends hanging out. We ordered spaghetti bolognese for my nephew, Angas Angus burger for my bro and Seafood rice bowl for me. I also tried their tutty fruity yoghurt shake.
Verdict: food was very tasteful although seafood rice bowl was too salty for me but per my bro it was just right. They are generous with the serving too and for three people we only paid P800, not bad!
I just hope the crew will be pleasant and smiling it would have brighten up the rainy weather. From the time we arrived up to the time we left they never smiled they're like zombies working on auto pilot. The gloominess in their face makes the place not welcoming.
