tried this once before & it was succulently tender & savory good... Might even be the best bbq in the metro...

Now it's tough on some parts, burnt on some... Still savory though..but it's definitely better eaten right off the grill

Since I was in DLSU, I've always gone here to have their barbecue. For me, they still have the BEST out of all the different barbecue places out there.

Finally after 4years came back to Aling Nene for their famous pork BBQ.

As I remember before it's just 12 pesos per stick and now it's 35pesos.

Ordered 2 BBQ, 2rice and a can of Pepsi, after I ordered they followed and served the food on my table.

Waiters are attentive and very helpful.

The only downside was after it, the smell of the BBQ just caught on your shirt .. What an inconvenience if your planning to meet someone after dinning. I think ventilation and aircon was bad. I hope they will do something about it.

A word of caution : upon paying please double check your bills, because upon paying my bills the cashier billed me 380 pesos, and to my surprise that was not what i ordered ...
I pretend that i havent noticed the bill that Im about to pay.
So I give her 500 pesos and give me the change...
Then I said, excuse me miss i think my bill wont cost me 300 pesos, because I just ordered 2BBQ, 2rice and a soda.
Then she gave me the other bill - she get back the changed that she gave me and provide me the right change.

The cashier never apologize, and she even said, you already checked the bill and read it! ...
I never complain and confronted her, I just get the change and leave the place.

Bad Cashier! So please if your craving for BBQ of Aling Nene, before you pay please double check what your paying for? ....

another on our list for our party foods is aling nene's. what we love about them is that they give us the best lechon manila could ever wrap, that is for our 'leyteñon' taste. some of the cooks that takes over to this lechon recipe are from leyte.

yes, people always look at cebu as the lechon capital of the philippines but the leyte's take on this filipino pride, especifically the one's that came from tacloban, is something that could compare the popular cebu style lechon.

the difference between the two?! ummmmmmm I could hardly tell. since I have both branch on my family that came from both cities mentioned, I think it's better to just put up the best qualities they got. Both takes the pride on having the perfectly crunchy skin, I think having a thick crunchy fatty skin or thin crunchy fatless skin doesn't really depend on the cook but the pig itself. the one's in cebu put's a lot more of the tanglad leaves and the one's in leyte brings the kick with more spices and a bath of lemonade soda.

hey why am I discussing this, let's go back to what aling nene have with their lechon. their's is tasty, tender and moist lechon, unlike the other's that I tasted before that are coming here in manila which become's bland with the meat that nears the skin. we were just kind of disappointed because some parts of the lechon wasn't crunchy anymore :(

one of things that we had too was their pork bbq, one of the best in town! you can request to have fat on or off. their's is tender and generous with the amount of meat on each stick. and the other is their pork shanghai, maybe they just cooked our orders early cause this one arrived with wrinkled wrappers and the taste was sweeter than the usual, still on parties we have their food always goes out first. :)

thanks aling nene, hope we won't encounter the same thing again :)

So I ordered their BBQ because maybe it was their special. I dunno 128517

BTW! What i liked about this place is that they asked me if i wanted some fat in my bbq! Why can't all bbq place be like that? 128517

After dropping by Becky's, we then headed to Aling Nene's for a more serious barbecue dining experience. 128523 I have barely recovered from food coma the past few days, and here we are eating our hearts out again. This was actually my first time to try Aling Nene's and honestly, I still do get excited whenever I get to try new Filipino food joints. 9786 For our appetizer, we ordered chicharong bulaklak (cholesterol alert!). We also got their sisig and laing, aside from their set meals so all of us had two barbecue sticks each (of course I got the one with fat hehe). I wasn't joking when I actually said I was feeling dizzy because I was soooo full (and perhaps because of too much cholesterol?). 128518 Too bad we didn't get their stuffed squid because I heard that's one of their best sellers. Looking forward to coming back here soon! 128522

*Sorry no food photos again because like I said, we were in for a more serious barbecue dining experience. 128523

good filipino food at affordable prices. i have had better barbecue in the past but there is no need to order the barbecue on stick if you order the grilled squid. stuffed with sweet asado, and served with a side of green mangoes and bagoong, it is definitely a big x mark on my diet card but a giant check mark on looloo. must go back. the grilled liempo awaits.

I was happy to chance upon aling nenes while passing thru osmena. Not much people when i had lunch there.
Last time i ate the bbq was back when thy had a branch in katipunan.
I must say There bbq still puts a smile on my face. Or may be its nostalgic for me. I devoured three sticks, 2 rice, and some laing along with it. A coke too. Busog! Total bill was 230 pesos. Fyi a generous cup of rice is P25 tho.
I hope to get back soon
