Been here in Bohol for 5 days and it's the only time I get the chance to check out alona beach. I need to see it before goin home the following day. Alona is just walkin distance from the place where I stay but I've been busy for the past 4 days because of the tours.

I went here at midday. The place is not as populated as Boracay's. I am expecting more people. I am not sure if it's because of the month or just the specific time of the day that's why I'm seeing only a few tourists. I also expected Alona beach to have a shoreline as long as Boracay's and as livelier I guess you just don't have to compare it to Boracay and let its own charm get you.

Sand is powdery white. Water is clear and there are no molds at the shore lol. If you know what Im talkin about. 128514. Alona is more peaceful and it is a place where you can really relax.

There are more people along the highway than here. There are more people dining at the restaurants and more people strolling outside Alona than the famous beach here in Bohol which I didn't expect. I'm not sure what's with this day or maybe it isn't just peak season.

I tried to check some of the souvenir shops along the beach and bought some pasalubong. There is a store where they sell some good type of necklaces and they're on sale at P50 each. Saw the original prices and it ranges from P80-P220! So I bought the expensive ones that ranges from P120-P220 for P50. There is also a shop where all wetsuits are on %50 sale!

I walked until I reached Hennan. One of the 5 star resorts in Bohol. I stayed at one of their beach chairs for a while. I brought a Murakami with me but wasn't able to read it. I preferred watching some of the tourists pass by and just tried to enjoy the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea. A local passed by selling hammocks and bought one. I bought one too when I was in Cebu but this one's better and the ropes are thicker.

Another local passed by selling something and asked if I wanna try the hennandunan? Bohol's local pancake. I bought one then from there she sat at one of the beach chairs and started talkin to me. She's one talkative lady. She told me that tagbilaran and panglao are two separate islands only connected by a bridge. She taught me some words from their dialect and gave me some tips too and her phone number. Haha.

After stayin there for a couple of hours feeling satisfied and relaxed, I walked to the other end of the beach and looked for a place to eat. I ended up eating at one of the seafood restaurants that has a poke stop. Lol.

Bohols Little Boracay.

A perfect destination for beachbums and mermaids at heart, surrounded with Restaurant, Hotels, Inns and Backpakers Dorm, no wonder this is one of the most visited place here in Bohol.

Alona has a white sand shoreline where one can spend from morning to night, its a place in Bohol that never sleeps.

Boatmans who offer Island tours is also present in the area, if you want to go on an Island Hopping adventure and/or whale watching, feel free to approach one of them.

I'd like to believe Alona Beach is way better than Boracay. Personal preference perhaps, i find Boracay complicated - too crowded, too popular and too commercial.

Alona Beach is Bohol's pride and glory. White powdery sand, crystal clear waters and not as complicated as Boracay. Think of it this way, Alona Beach is like Dr. John Watson, quiet and reserved while Boracay is like Sherlock Holmes, extravagant and outrageous (Sherlock reference 128512)

Powdery white sand, almost similar to Boracay in some parts of the beach, but most are white sand with some small shells. Ocean has lots of seaweed. (Not sure if this is year round, because in Boracay, there is a certain season that there are lots of seaweed in the beach).

This is a great place if you want to have a quite time at the beach without so many vendors bugging you all the time. I noticed that the food and restaurants are a lot more expensive here compared to Boracay.

Comparing it to Boracay, they have a lot in common. White Sand, Clear Water, Watersports, Shops and Night Life. Alona Beach would be a small version though, the stretch of White Sand Beach is not that long. Also, shops here close early. Around 11pm even bars start closing.

What I liked about Alona Beach is it has both Sunrise and Sunset on the same beach. Great for Photo Ops! This picture is the Sunrise which starts on the left of the beach and setting on the right side still within beach view. Boracay and Manila Bay only has a Sunset..

Also, the beach is crawling with Weeds. Watch out for Sea Urchins too.

Party-goer? Love clubbing? If so, this is not the beach for you!
Change of pace from the busy busy days here in Manila... Quiet, peaceful, not as populated as other more popular beaches in the Philippines... Lovely powdery sand, feels good to walk around barefoot... Lots of starfishes in the area! I just loved being able to recharge and get away from it all! 128262128262128262

Sand. Water. Sun.

Sunkissed!

Alona beach is like Boracay but with less crowd and less resto to choose from. There are more foreigners than filipino here. Most of the tourists go here for scuba diving, island hopping and dolphin watching early in the morning which We didn't tried at all. Haha

I really had fun. Btw it was my birthday when we went there a few days ago. 128513

It's the middle of the week and I'm missing the beach!

I like Alona Beach because of its fine, powdery white sand, which is like Boracay's infamous white beach! The water is crystal clear too, as you can see in the photo.

Compared to other beaches in Panglao island (well I've only been to 2), this is much better. You'd expect that Doljo Beach where Bellevue Resort is located would be nicer. But that's for another review.

Despite going there on a holiday, it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. The vibe here is chill and laid-back. Just the way I like it!

I'll probably go back next summer! 128522

At first, I was comparing it too much to Boracay's White Beach: sand is not as white, not as many (cheap) food choices, water is not as clear blue. But staying here for a few days, I've come to love the place. Less commercialized and with a pretty pink sunset, Panglao's Alona Beach is a good alternative with the convenience of nearby food establishments but away from the maddening city crowd that usually invades Boracay during Holy Week.

Highly recommend taking a boat to nearby Virgin Islands in the morning to hang out on the sand bar and feast on fresh uni (P20 a piece! As in gumagalaw pa yun spikes!) and buko juice. With the water just up to your thighs, it feels like you're standing in the middle of the sea, lost in paradise.
