I would recommend Amboy Hometel over and over again when you visit Batanes.
First of all, the location is beach front (just a 2-3 minutes walk). You can have a quick sea water dip or even an early morning stroll along the beach anytime you want!
Batanes is already peaceful wherever part you are, but this place offers you a homey ambiance away from your first home.
The staff here are all friendly and kind. Before our flight back to Manila, I learned that the owner was the one who cooks inside the kitchen. You can never distinguish 'rich' or 'poor' in this island. They are all living simple.
Food are delicious. You may notice that in Batanes, food variety is not really evident (just think that most goods are still imported from Manila like soya, flour, etc). Talking about soya, yes, there are taho vendors in Batanes. Must try's are their Yellow rice, camote, pako, and coconut crabs.
They are one stop shop. They have a mini souvenir shop (but with a higher price compared to shops sa bayan). They also have tour packages if ever you want.
They offer free use of bike. Most hotels also offer this. But hey, it's worth sharing! This is a must when you visit Batanes - strolling around, feeling the breezy fresh air, watching the scenic view, while biking!
Lastly, they have free WIFI access (not all lodges/hotels have WIFI). But, don't expect too much because it has really slow internet connection. I was only able to upload 1 picture daily on FB (can't upload using IG). It took me minutes just to upload 1 picture.
I already miss Batanes. I'll come back for sure!

Because we were able to plan a few months ago for our Batanes trip, we were lucky enough to get rooms in Amboy Hometel.
This resort is truly your home away from home. It is a simple room with your basic necessities (one tein and one single bed, flat screen tv, heater, clean bathroom and soap readily available). They leave signs like if you want a new towel, put the towel on the floor. If you dont want a new towel, please do hang the towel. That's how environment friendly they are.
The staffs were very courteous and accomodating. They made sure to pamper us. Everything we wanted was given to us instantly. -1 star due to the food. There were instances the food was good and some not really good.
When staying in Amboy Hometel, please do get Kuya Rhenz as your tour guide ! He will really assist you wherever you go. Since I had a hard time walking along Vayang Rolling Hills, Kuya Rhenz was there to assist me by holding my hand. He kept on talking to me para mawala ang pagkatakot ko

Wag ka dito kung ayaw mo ng magandang sunset Hahahahaha!
Sakto naman ang rooms, malinis! May TV with cable tapos yung CR may hot shower naman. At pinaka-importante, malakas ang aircon! Super inet nun pumunta kami ng Batanes (May 2014).
Pati owners bait din! Pinahatid pa kami sa multicab nila papunta sa bayan kasi wala na pala tricycle sa gabi. Buti na lang kung hindi gutommy abuel kami na matutulog.

Home away from home!
At first I had a hard time booking our reservation (no reply from them trough their website reservation), i'm not sure if due to internet connection in Batanes but eventually I booked and got a lower price for the room because of the said issue.
Clean room and comfort room. Nice facade and garden. Airport transfers included, breakfast included and i must say . The staffs are very accommodating and friendly (i think lahat sa Batanes mababait). So near the beach.
Down side: No phone signal in our room which is very much ok with me so we can have a rest (so good pla skin, haha). Shower is not working well (mahina) but we asked for pail nlng to use. Although the place is not in the "poblacion" area it is very much accessible.
