Let's Travel to Bohol, Philippines
I've been blessed of having parents and relatives who live in the provinces since it's an opportunity for me to visit them once, twice or more in a year. My Dad's side is from Bohol and we usually visit every year for family reunions or holidays. Having visited the province a gazillion of times now (Maybe less than a hundred times since I was little hehe), I've seen how Bohol has developed. Still, going to Bohol every time still surprises me, from touring the man-made forest, chocolate hills, butterfly farm, bee farm, tarsier sanctuary, and doing activities such as firefly watching, diving, snorkeling, island hopping and of course, to staying at magnificent white sand beaches that takes your breathe away.
I remembered the first time I went to a public beach with my grandfather. The sand was so pure and white that you can mistake it for polvoron. haha! It was the start of my love affair with the beach. Little did I know that this public beach would eventually become a large resort, Hennan Alona Beach Resort. Growing up, we went to several beach resorts in Panglao. Here are some I've visited and stayed at and my overall review for each (10 being the highest).
Amorita Resort, Alona, Panglao -9.5/10
Hennan Resort, Alona, Panglao -9/10
Bellevue Resort, Doljo, Panglao -8.5/10
Tarsier Botanika, Panglao -8/10 (Day tour only)
BE Grand Resort, Panglao -7.5/10
Overall, I recommend staying at Amorita, it has one of the best views on the Island of Panglao since it's located at the cliffside area. You can just go down anytime to swim at the beach. They also have their own "hidden beach" behind the spa area. So nice!
The resort is accessible to the restaurants and shops along Alona. And if you plan to do some resort-hopping, it's just right beside Hennan. You can conveniently switch resorts. We tried it already. Hahaha! Anyway, Amorita might be a bit expensive due to exclusivity but they have the best service ever (no kidding! Ang sipag nila magpalit ng bed sheets everyday. They have welcome treats served in your suite everyday too. Mabubusog ka sa pag-pamper nila). What I loved about the place is that you get to eat your buffet breakfast at an open restaurant facing the pool/seaside area. They have 2 restaurants by the way, Tomar and Saffron. Tomar serves Spanish cuisine while Saffron serves both western and Filipino dishes. The food in both restaurants is a bit pricey but the it tastes good. I tried their Spa and it was an hour massage, less expensive than Hennan. Worth it! I also loved the nature theme of the resort, once you enter the place, you get an amazing beach view from the cliffside, then going to the suite, you'll pass through a park-like area, so many trees. They're rooms are very clean and spacious. We stayed at the ground floor junior suite, which has a patio facing the park like area of the resort. It was so relaxing and peaceful.
That's all for now. I'll try to do a more comprehensive review on the other resorts I loved. Let me know if you have any questions in mind

Amorita Resort, one of the best beaches I've been too in Panglao, Bohol. It's located on the leftmost part of the Panglao beach. We stayed here for
2 nights during our company outing last year 2015 March. I was blessed enough to be able to experience this resort cause when I checked their rates online, the price is out of my range.
Here are the top reasons why I recommend this place:
1. The resort is very clean. Super clean. I'm a very OC person and one of my pet perves whenever I go to resorts would be their bathrooms. I always check if they're clean. I remember Amorita's like a 5 star hotel. Plus wherever I go, they manage to make everything look neat.
2. The staff are very friendly. Super friendly in fact, they will even hand you out bath towels if you're in the pool area if you forgot your own.
3. Their customer service is great. They always manage to smile whenever they talk to customers. Everyone is so friendly!
This place is cozy at night with the mood lights and everything. Perfect place for honeymoon or a getaway with your loved one!
I also remember how good their breakfast were! Mygosh they serve high quality food during breakfast. They even have muesli and diff kind of cereals you can choose from. Pancakes, fresh fruits.
I will never forget this trip because it was the most relaxing trip i've ever experienced. Kudos!

We needed an off-site planning venue with our key partners. our thought was it had to be relaxing and conducive enough to get the creative juices flowing. Suggestions came and went and the unanimous vote was Amorita.
The minute I sent foot in the resort, I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. We were housed in the new wing where everything was literally a stone's throw away.
The large open air dining area had a fantastic view of the resort, the ocean and the pool. Dining could not be more pleasurable.
The gym was a short walk away from my room. Although equipment was limited, everything was top quality. The single treadmill, 3 spinners and free weight machine were all professional models. Particularly nice was the large floor area for yoga, zumba or what have you.
The main planning venue was a huge multipurpose room on the 2nd floor atop the dining area. The four sides of the room were floor to ceiling tinted glass. It offered a commanding 360 degree view of the place. Amorita converted it into a lounge cum meeting area. Seats were huge and comfy. The floor was laden with bean bags and mats and was as inviting as the chairs. Airconditioning and sound system were tops too.
For me though, the highlights of this were the food choices. Two of my favorites were the Chorizo Burger and Chuleton.
Their large Chorizo Burger did not stop with just looks. It was a savory mix of sweet and spicy. The patty was tender and juicy inside and lightly toasted on the outside. Veggie compliments were generous and the bun was perfect.
Our 2nd night dinner buffet was.a spread for kings. The centerpiece was a nicely roasted Chuleton. The beef was tender, soft and easy to chew. While there were several sauce choices, I kept it plain and added just very very small pinches of salt to complement the already flavorful beef.
All told, this did not feel like a strategy and planning session at all. Partnership bonds were definitely strengthened and commitments reinforced.
One question remains after this, "How do we top this next year?!"

For our honeymoon (part 1) we decided to head over to Amorita Resort in Bohol. We did not regret this one bit, as from the moment we landed in Tagbilaran airport, they were present to assist us in transfers to the hotel, booking day tours, and even recommending good places to eat along the beach.
We booked the ocean view villa, which essentially puts you in one of their big suites with a view of the Ocean flowing towards Alona Beach. You even get your own private drop pool which housekeeping can turn on by request.
When you arrive and when you leave, they give you complementary cookies, and they also decided to give us the contents of the mini-bar free of charge! Perhaps the only thing I didn't like here was that the drop pool was dirty, and the bathrooms are outdoors. Concealed from the public... But still outdoors. Imagine doing your business while hearing your neighbors talk about their beach plans.
Additionally, the villa is not so private, as if you go into the garden fronting the villa, you can easily access the neighboring villa. Not exactly the best thing for a newlywed couple on their honeymoon. But anyway, we enjoyed our stay, and the staff was really friendly too. They actually asked why we didn't stay longer, to which we had no answer. I guess so we have a next time to look forward to!
Our stay came with a massage package, which was one of the best massages I've had in a while. A few minutes in and I was relaxed and knocked out on the massage table.
Overall, it was really fun, and I do look forward to the next time we visit! For sure there will be a next time!

Excellent guest services, convenient accessibility to the 1 kilometer fine white sand beach stretch and establishments of Alona Beach, lovely gardens, clean and nice accommodations from one of Alona Beach's fine beach resorts , Amorita.
Amorita (which translates to "my little darling") is one of the older upscale homey resorts along the Alona Beach stretch of Panglao Island in Bohol. They occupy one of the prime spots in the stretch because the resort is located on top of a shallow cliff affording guests a sweeping view of the sea, the neighboring Siquijor Island, and the fine white beach. The resort was just a few steps down the fine clean sands of Alona Beach and turquoise clear blue waters.
The owners also have two other beach resorts aside from Amorita. One called Momo Beach House (also located in Panglao Island). Known for its private and isolated upscale accommodations. And another called Sta Monica Beach Club located in Dumaguete.
Their guest service is excellent. From their airport pick-up service (guests are offered cold bottled water and candies during the short trip to the resort). Their receiving area ( welcome fresh juice drinks). A plate of cookies (restocked everyday) greet guests in their rooms. Free international and local mailing of postcards for guests. A beach bag for guests to use to tote around when exploring the beach. A farewell gift upon checkout. The resort staff were all friendly, courteous, and accommodating.
While the rooms were not poshly upscale, I loved the fact that the rooms were clean, fresh, and comfortably appointed. Wi-Fi services and flat screen tv with cable services. Air conditioning was nicely cold and quiet (in as much I love the sun, beach, and sea, I am very particular of sleeping in a well air conditioned room). I loved the fact that our room had a sliding door that opened into a small pocket garden with huge palms, trees, plants , and wooden garden benches that nicely gave an element of privacy for our backyard nook.
The resort had an infinity pool that overlooked the white sand beach and the sea. They also had a scuba-diving center complete with a diving pool for beginners, diving equipment, and licensed dive instructors and masters. They offered PADI diving accreditation. Very appropriate since Panglao Island is renowned for its fantastic diving spots.
Our accommodation package came with free breakfast. Every morning, we feasted on Amorita's delicious and generous buffet spread. Good choices of fresh fruits, freshly baked breads,Danish , jams, butter, omelet, congee, cheeses, delicious main viands of meats, sausages, fish, unlimited servings of brewed coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and healthy options- muesli , oatmeal, yoghurt, cereals, etc.
Location wise, we loved the fact that inspite of the privacy of Amorita, it was readily accessible to the more commercial yet bucolic area of Alona Beach. This gave guests an opportunity to likewise explore the strip. In our case, it was a fantastic foodie adventure as well.
We also learned a very interesting and amusing trivia on how Alona Beach in Tawala, Panglao got its name. Prior to being named such, it was simply called Bgy Tawala, Panglao. In the mid 1970's , Fernando Poe, Jr shot a movie in Bohol. His leading lady , a popular sex symbol of those times, was Alona Alegre. During their free time, the actress was known to frolic along the previously undeveloped pristine and virginal white sand beaches of this side of the island. Thus, the beach was named officially Alona Beach. And the rest was history.
I would highly recommend Amorita to people who are looking for a homey-upscale beach resort with easy accessibility to a subdued beach scene. Perfect for a family vacation or for groups of friends who want a more personal venue to spend some quality time. A far cry from the noisy , crowded, and heavily commercialized Boracay. I would also highly recommend this resort to scuba divers looking for a great place to stay.

When it turns dark, there's nothing else left to do in Bohol. And Amorita's just the perfect place to do the following:
read a book

Amorita Resort is something worth every penny. I promise you, you'll look forward on going back. ️ Just like what we did! ️
You can check my previous post with Amorita when we celebrated our 8th Anniversary
The place was awesome as ever. We were welcomed with really refreshing calamansi pandan smoothie which I have to commend since the welcome drinks way back was not refreshing at all. I appreciate that they really listen to my concern.
As we entered our Garden Villa, there's still a floral decorations on our bed just like before. It says "Welcome back to Amorita" I'm mababaw like that, I appreciate that! ️
There's a complimentary cookies on our room. Plus! They now have complimentary fruits! (and complimentary desserts every night) And because we stayed on Garden Villa, the contents of the fridge is free!
The plundge pool is what we enjoyed on our first stay. We just called them to turn on the jacuzzi for us. Saraaap!
Their service was exceptional! One of a kind! They made us feel at home and cozy! They were so polite, friendly, and everything! Hahaha! The staff named "Yang" even remembered us! Nakakatuwa ️
The food was good as well! I've heard that they have new chefs compared before. It's even better now!
Their infinity pool was awesome! (photo attached) It has a sun tan deck where you can lie down and do some tanning with the overview of the Alona Beach!
We enjoyed the beach compared to the last visit. It was really clean and the sand was fine. Reminds me of Boracay's white sand.
If you're looking for a place where you can really relax without stressing yourself, and feelin' like a prince and princess while feeling at home, or Anniversary / Birthday or whatever special occasion (there's a pre nup shoot that time, sweetness! ), Amorita is the place for you. ️

The place and the view = 5 stars
The food served in Saffron Restaurant - 2 stars.
The price is a bit on the expensive side (but I expected that since a chef [Chef Paeng] prepared the meals).
The main problem was that the food wasn't catered to our 'pinoy' taste buds. The kare kare had the peanut taste, but it still didnt taste like the kare kare I know.
Everything was a bit salty which is why i got umay halfway through our lunch.
The table had insects crawling everywhere, placemats, chairs and ourselves. Ugh.
Service was A+ though. Very attentive and conversational waitresses.

Amorita Resort - Awarded as Top Travelers Choice for 2013. This might be long one but I promise, this is worth to read!
From all the different places we've been to, Amorita Resort will definitely on top of our list!
We celebrated our 8th Anniversary here with boyfie. Situated in a seaside cliff of Alona Beach in Bohol. There are different rooms in Amorita (Deluxe, Garden Villa, and Ocean Villa) Difference is that, The Deluxe Room is like the ones in hotel, while the Garden Villa and Ocean Villa has its own sundeck and plunge pool where you can take a dip at your convinience! The difference is the view wherein the Garden View is surrounded by "your" garden while the Ocean Villa has the breathtaking view of the ocean.
When we entered the room, I was so shocked! Like this!! My heart just melted again! (For the second time around ) The bed were filled with rose petals and white flowers. And a "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY" message made up of flower petals! (which you can see on my previous post at this place). It's so beautiful that we don't want to touch our bed! Seems like I'm willing to sleep on the couch so we will not destroy the majestic welcome to us!
Their Comfort Room is really one of a kind! It's actually the bomb! It was tastefully decorated having an open-plan bathroom set up! Twas my first time seeing a set up like that! Just by looking at their Comfort Rooms makes my heart melt!
And since we're having a Villa, all of the contents of the fridge in our room are for free! Yey! Boyfie enjoyed the beer, but I enjoyed the Chuckie and Sola!
Shuttle were also provided as we reached the Tagbilaran Port and vise versa.
We were handed a basket with ribbons, flowers that has our bottled water as soon as we reached the shuttle.
Welcome drinks were also provided
📶 Wifi are also available!
As we reached our villa, soft, freshly baked soft cookies were on the table as their welcome treat. I actually thought that it's just a "puchu puchu" cookie, but no, it's wonderfully made cookie, that's why I asked boyfie to give me his other cookie
The night of our anniversary, we were surprised to see a cake on our villa, plus a "Happy Anniversary" chocolate message. Sweet!
Our Packege (Lovers Gateaway) also includes the following : Breakfast Buffet at their Restaurant, Breakfast in Bed, Romantic Dinner by the Sea, Couples Massage, Souvineers etc.
Breakfast in Bed + Breakfast Buffet (i expected a lot from their food since their cookie is one of a kind, and it did not disappoint! Such a scrumptious meal!
I hate massages. I have a high percentage of laughing out loud since I'm really ticklish! But twas my first massage wherein I didn't laugh. swear! I fell asleep for the first time, tulo pa laway!
Romantic Dinner by the Sea. I wasn't expecting that much. I thought that we will just eat and serve our foods with the view of the Alona Beach, but no. Twas really romantic. Ang cheesy nga! The picture were uploaded on my IG account, twas a candle light dinner set up. Heart shaped lights surrounding our table. Oh dba, ang keso! Served with wine, and 6 course meal!
- We were treated like a spoiled brat! Everyone welcome us so warm and with delightment! Friendly and really impressive from the moment we arrive until we left.
If there's higher than 5 looloo star rating, I'd be willing to give them to Amorita!
Please consider this hidden gem when visiting Bohol. It will reach beyond your expectation!
