so... I'm the last person who reviewed this place. i'm still praising their really yummy machang! can anyone tell me where else I can get good tasting machang in Binondo?

also, i noticed that more and more people go there for dine in. I wonder how their main dishes taste like. Chinese lutong bahay for realz!

There are just times when my taste buds crave for some authentic Chinese food like machang. I've tasted one that's super good back in the province, and made by an old lady our family regularly order machang and homemade tofus from. That's the type of machang i can eat two servings in one seating if I really want to but usually decide not to! Sadly, the old lady passed away and no one in her family can make it as good as she can. Next good machang is the ones my Aunt in HK makes. HK is so far, and she does not cook it on a regular basis, only during festivals.

In Manila, Ang Tunay's machang is one of the best tasting so far. I'm not in a search of the best machang but there's was recommended to me by my aunt.

Ang Tunay is located a few steps from the main Ongpin road. It's a Chinese style carenderia where you see "turo-turo" Chinese food.. just like the authentic ones in China/Hong Kong, so mind you cleanliness of the place is not so appealing, but the utensils and plates look clean. I usually use wooden chopsticks when I go there. Again, service is the Chinese way so you have to approach the cashier or call the servers roaming around.

I just go there for the machang. Cost around 100bucks only and I usually have it for dine because it's best when steaming hot. As you see in the photo, they top it with fresh minced garlic. Weird, but adds more flavor when mixed to the sticky rice. Btw, machang is like a soy-sauce rice with mushrooms and tasty humba meat, wrapped in lotus leaves then steamed. Some versions of humba have beans or peanuts. Ang Tunay's version does not have those. Not a big fan of beans being added to humba 128517

4-11088️ because of the machang! Really yummy humba and nicely done sticky rice! 128077🏻128077🏻

Been living in Binondo for 4 months and first time I tried eating here was just last month. Lol was kinda dragged by my aunt cos she hadn't eaten lunch yet (that was already 3PM BTW). So she ordered congee with sweet potato and I think pork and fish in soy sauce (not sure what they're called).

Food was okay. Nothing extraordinary, maybe I didn't order their best seller or something. Regardless, I could pass the food up if the staff were polite. While my aunt was ordering, this staff was talking behind her back about something she said. She then saw me looking at her, with a blank expression on my face and somehow she kinda felt embarrassed. Well she should be. What she did was rude.

Not sure if I'll try eating here again.

Food was good but the place is dirty. We used to always eat here when we were kids but we don't anymore coz some of our family members got sick after eating here. I miss their food but its not worth the risk of getting sick.

Oldie but a goodie, this place has been serving out various Chinese and non-Chinese dishes since before I was born. They have a great selection both for dine-in and take-out! They have authentic Chinese dishes for the true Chinese lovers. Prices are also affordable and reasonable.
