There's something about petting zoos that I find so appealing. Perhaps it's the fact that you could interact with the adorable animals or my frustration of having my own furry pet. (Though lately, I have this fascination over tortoise.) So when my aunt suggested that we visit the Animal Farm at Tagaytay Highlands before leaving for Manila, my small eyes widened and I let out a big "yaaaay"!
Hello, Animal Farm!
This small petting zoo seems to be a bit ignored by members because of the other more attractive amenities and activities like archery, go kart and bowling. I myself didn't know there's such a thing here till last December.
The place was empty when we got there and the first thing we saw was a huge tortoise. It is 6 years old while its small companion, which I thought was still a baby, is just a year younger. Apparently, the poor tortoise does not eat much and does not get enough nutrition to grow as big as the other one.
The next animal we saw were the llamas. Llamaaaaa! I grew fond of this animal ever since I watched Emperor's New Groove. (Watch it if you haven't.) One of the llamas approached us and my sister and I giggled like maniacs.
There were also fishes, a Celebes Black Ape (which you can shake hands with), ostriches, eagles, hawks and... chickens in the petting zoo.
It's a nice place for kids to get to know animals up close. And you could touch or pet some of the animals. You could even have the huge parrots perch on your hand or shoulder.
