The service is poor. Its been 40 minutes since we post our order and we are still waiting to be served. When will they improve?

After the long and exciting Philippine Hot Air Balloon festival, we decided to check out the restaurants in Marquee Mall.

While most of the restaurants there are quite well-known all over the country (and were very tempting to try because I wanted a burger), we decided to try something unique. One of my friends recommended Apag Marangle. She said it's good so we decided to have our lunch there.

We asked the manager about what to order and he recommended the following:

• Kamaru (Fried Crickets) 128027128029128028
• Lemongrass Chicken 127819127806128020
• Fried Rice w/ squash, fried pork, shrimp paste/sauce, okra, and ampalaya. 127859127834127840128055127844127840127840

The lemongrass chicken was pretty good. It tasted like tinola but with lemongrass. The meat was cooked well.

The fried rice was amazing. Half order is good for two.

But the highlight of day was trying my first ever fried crickets (Kamaru). When we ordered it, the manager asked if we want it sautéed or fried. I was quick to tell the manager to have it fried instead since I want to make sure that those crickets get cooked well.

When it was placed on the table, I quickly tried it just to get it over with.

So was it good? Well, it was actually just okay. I think it's perfect for pulutan.

But given that it was my first time trying crickets, the excitement and thrill of eating insects made the experience memorable. 128027128029128028

To everyone, make sure you order beer. This will help you get rid of the cricket aftertaste.

I highly recommend this place! If you're a YOLO type of person looking for a restaurant in a mall, check this place out! 128076

A little bit pricey given the serving but food is good. Try the lechon kawali and buttered shrimp. :)

Kapampangan cuisine at it's finest. One of the best themed restaurants i've eaten in. One of the few restaurants that stick to the traditional way. Must try their Betute, Sinigang sa Bayabas, & their homemade Buru.
