First time I heard we were dining here, I had to asked again where. As soon as we arrived, out of curiosity, I asked their staff what’s in the name? Apparently it is inspired from the two sharks that live within their midst.
Ashark serves the best in Cantonese, Hunan, & Sichuan cuisine altogether. It is a massive facility that can hold 200 guests on the main dining plus hundreds more in private KTV rooms. It is fully inspired by the Chinese way of eating.
It was our family lunch and we shared a feast of sorts. We got some dishes that were both familiar and new to all of us.
To warm us up, we had Ashark’s Beancurd Black Fungus & Tomato Thick Soup (Php 488). This was a sumptuous soup with a bold tangy taste.
The most interesting we ordered was Tempura Chinese Style (Php 1,200) as it arrived in style. That was placed in a huge artistically made boat, complete with dry ice effect and Chinese pop music. The prawns were plump and crispy but it needs sauce to make it worth having.
Next that went in was the Roast Lamb Leg Ancient Law (Php 2,688). This was my top pick that night for its tender soft bite and on point flavor. Have this with warm white rice for a filling combination.
We also had more meat via Baked Beef Steak with Red Wine (Php 1680), and seafood through colorful plates of Sautéed Abalone with Prawns & Scallops (Php 1,200) and Braised Sea Cucumber with Fish Maw and Tendon (1,928). I enjoyed navigating my chopsticks through these dishes. They were gone quite fast, despite its family sized portions.
For a different crunch, don’t forget to have their sweet and savory Crispy Almond Pak Choi (Php 1,628). It’s veggies filled with almonds, comes with a must dip sweet and spicy sauce.
To cap our memorable evening, we also had bowls of Chinese desserts. We slurped their Pomelo and Mango sago with gusto and quietly had their warm Glutinous Rice with Red Bean Soup.
If you’re looking for a truly unique place to enjoy the best of China, consider Ashark in your list. This is located at the Golden Phoenix Hotel, near Mall of Asia Complex.

Ashark Club is a new, hip restaurant, with the fusion not of cuisines, but of classy dining and KTV entertainment. This may seem like a weird and unmatching combination, but save those doubts for some jaw-dropping, "I was wrong" moment that will surely sink in later on.
This spacious restaurant has a purely elegant ambiance, with furnitures dressed in white cloth, lightings looking like thousands of hanging diamonds, and jaded figurines that will make you hold on to your purses and make sure you have enough to push through.
We were invited by a friend who won a P5,000 GC from Ashark Club, and we ordered their set meal, plus some desserts and buns.

|Salt and Pepper Diced Chicken
I loved how the flavors of the salt and pepper were brought out in this dish. It was a lot spicy, but it's something I was able to appreciate rather than avoid (low tolerance on spicy food). However, I would have enjoyed the flavors even more if they used meat instead of diced chicken joints.
|Sauteed Clams in Spicy Sauce
I honestly can't remember much about this dish, except that I didn't really find it that spicy and that there was no strong play in flavors.
|Braised Beef Steak in Red Wine
Ashark's braised beef steak is served in a large pot with a candle beneath, which allowed it to remain hot over time and contributed largely to its delicious taste. It's a lot similar to the Filipino Caldereta, wherein the beef is cooked in thick tomato sauce. What made this version great is its tender meat and the light sweetness in its sauce.
|Deep Fried Crispy Rice with pork belly and ginger
How do we add a twist to carbs? Make it crispy. The deep fried crispy rice of Ashark has a touch of Pinoy to it. Are you a fan of tutong rice? Well, this is it, except that it is topped with pork bits and sauce. The taste was good, but I prefer having more sauce to it to complement the really dry parts underneath.
|Sauteed Vegetables with Garlic
Vegetables sauteed in garlic and topped with more crispy garlic. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, not overcooking and leaving some nice crisp to it.
|Fried Hofan with Slices Beef
I was stunned by how great this dish tasted. I really didn't expect to like it that much, but I did. The noodles were soft, but not too soggy, and definitely tasty even on a per strand level lol.
|Salt and Pepper Shrimp
Their salt and pepper shrimp was also good. Each piece was soft shelled, although I still had to de-shell it since I'm not used to eating a soft shelled shrimp. The seasoning of this dish is also lighter compared to the salt and pepper chicken, which is a bummer. It would've been better if the spice was like that of the chicken.
|Soup of the day
The soup that day was chicken, and it was good. The broth was right in between a regular soup stock and a ramen broth.

ADORABLE. Completely adorable. And not just that, it also tastes as good as it looks! Panda buns filled with lotus and chocolate paste, with some chocolate chips. Best consumed while still hot.

Looking for something light and refreshing for dessert? Then you can go for the more common Chinese dessert ~ the pomelo mango sago.
|Sweet Lotus Seed with Lily Sago P120
This was also a light dessert with thin, not too sweet syrup. This is best for those who want to have a light, refreshing, but unique dessert.
|Sweet Red Bean Dumpling Soup P120
I'm a fan of something different, and red bean, which is why I chose this as my dessert. The soup had a slightly thicker consistency compared to the first two, and and had some red beans. What's surprising is what lies inside each mochi-like dumpling ~ black sesame paste. So if you're looking for a dessert with heavy texture, then you might want to try this one.

Buns in the form of a cute hedgehog, and filled with delicious purple yam that tastes like Baguio's pride. Initially, I thought that the yam would taste weird in a siopao like bun, but woah, this really was the perfect treat.
After the meal, we were taken to a tour led by one of the servers of Ashark. We took a trip to their aquarium section, where we were able to see their fresh, live seafood.
After this, we went to check out their VIP rooms, and boy were we amazed. Each VIP room has an even more elegant set up, with a huge round table in the middle of the room, right beneath a lavishly looking chandelier. Where the dining area ends is a door leading to the equally extravagant karaoke room. Rates for VIP rooms start at P50,000. The amount is consumable, and good for 4 hours.
They also have rooms that are just for dining, and just for karaoke. Starting rates are P20,000 and P30,000 respectively, and are also consumable.
If you're looking for a venue for your intimate gathering, then Ashark Club should be on your list. And while we're at it, don't forget to have a taste of their panda and hedgehog buns

First, it's really pricey here. Thanks to EJ B we got to try the food here. However pricey it is, the serving somewhat compensated for it, quality wise, it's just an 3.5 for me.

It was the Chicken and Mushroom soup, broth base. It's refillable, but i do not know if that will be the case if there are a lot of customers.

I like the concept of foolery. It looks full but it's empty inside. The server will have it "crack open" for you. The pork belly?? More like ground pork sauce. Trickery.

I appreciate the tasty hofan. The consistency was very good! Watch out for this dish. A real pangpabawi.

Love this one, we have a glutinous rice "shiratama" with black sesame puree inside. The two hot stars are swimming in red bean soup. Truly a Chinese delicacy.
We did not expect the price to be a "plus plus". Yes there are some hidden charges.
Well, this is truly for the very rich then, there are function rooms good for 30 or 50 pax with a consumable of 30K and 50K respectively. Some rooms hot videoke places. The server told us that usually it's rented for parties. And their customers usually go beyond their consumable payment.
Parking- inquire at guard. You'll be directed to a ramp leading to the 4th floor... it's free but then difficult to go there because you will have to pass the 5th floor on your way out since the hotel DOES NOT HAVE 4th FLOOR #chinesefengshui

If I will to eat here for the rest of my life is because of the cute PANDAS and HEDGEHOGS.
We went to Grand Phoenix Hotel in Pasay to try the newly open restaurant named Ashark Club. Ashark Club Restaurant is a huge Chinese restaurant offering the best Szechuan dishes. They also offer VIP Room which includes Videoke Room + Dining Room, price start at Php20,000.00 consumable. The quality of the furnitures and equipment inside the VIP Room looks nice and elegant. The place has an aquarium room where the fresh lapu-lapu, crabs, flat lobsters and giant lobsters displayed for sale... a super mini ocean park! LOL But seriously the aquarium looks good.
We were seated at the dining area during our visit. Absolutely a huge place. The staff handed the electronic menu for us to place our order. We decided to get the set meal good for 4-6 pax for Php3,680.00++.

It's feast! The set meal is really intended for 6 pax. My favorites were the Soup of the Day, it's really appetizing; the Fried Hofan with Sliced Beef, I like the texture of the flat noodles that blends well with the tenderness of the beef; And finally the Salt and Pepper Shrimp, the dish was seasoned well, though it is spicy but it's addicting.
They gave us free Steamed Hedgehog Purple Yam after sharing the video of Ashark Club in Facebook. We also order Steamed Panda Bun... Gosh! The small panda buns were to cute to be eaten, same as the steamed hedgehog. How? How? How? Aside from that we also had Pomelo Mango Sago, Sweet Lotus Seed with Lily Soup and Sweet Red Bean Dumpling Soup.

The Steamed Panda Buns and Steamed Hedgehog were my favorites among the dessert we had. The melted chocolate inside the Panda Buns and the ube inside the Hedgehog were so awesome. The cuteness of these two desserts suits to the mouthwatering flavors of the delightful cuties.
The staff provided good service and they were courteous and attentive all the time.
Overall, the place, food and staff were nice during our visit. The only thing about Ashark Club... that the restaurant is expensive. Lahat ata may bayad, even the tissue and take-out containers.
