Went here with my work colleagues... We actually opened up the place because it was earlier than 11. The staff had to quickly setup our reserved room.

Then they started showing us their huge whiteboard with pictures of the various bento meals served... We were fortunate to have a discount from the usual 499 to 299 per... (This includes the wagtu beef bento meal but none of us ordered this so I don't know if the serving would have been worth it.)

A few of us took the sushi set meal but since that involved sashimi, I decided to skip it and go to one of my default dishes -- the Oyakodon set meal! Can't go wrong with this one... You'd have to be a terrible chef if you do!

The Oyakodon bento came with a miso soup (you can choose the alternative clear soup if you prefer), the usual coleslaw salad which I barely noticed, the token watermelon piece for dessert, and the breaded chicken katsu with egg as rice topping. But wait, there's more.... Under the lacquer bowl is a shallower dish that reveals the noodles that came with it! In my case, I chose the soba -- easier to deal with using the chopsticks (you can get the alternative udon or thinner noodles).

Taste: meh! I've had better... For 299! I was eating my katsu when I ran into what suspiciously feels like chicken cartilage (queasy about things like this... which is why I usually eat white meat). The soba tasted like it was in some bland pickled soup... Uh, why is my noodles semi-sour?

A few minutes after I started on my bento, I wished I chose the safe but boring option of tempura bento! Maybe my taste buds were affected by the fact that I was feeling under the weather....

I told the staff (twice) to leave the pot of house tea beside me as I intend to drink a lot of it to dispel my stuffy nose but sadly, it fell on deaf ears. I didn't really have the energy to keep on calling her to my side to refill my cup.... Out of sight, out of mind!

Decided to go to another place for real dessert as they only had "imported" vanilla ice cream at a whopping cost of 150+ per scoop! Seriously? For vanilla??? No mochi?

When we were filing out, saw a lot of Japanese (I assumed) patrons.... Clearly this is a popular place for them... But me being Filipino probably miss the more robustly-flavored Japanese food I've had the pleasure to eat over this seemingly authentic bland version... Oh well!

You'll know you're in the right place when the people surrounding you are Japanese. Really. My family and i were the only Filipinos dining in. With that said,we felt like we were back in Japan! 127884

Fresh seafood at pretty reasonable prices (compared to other Japanese restos in the metro). Tempura was good. Rice... Yummmm! Sushi. Well, there's the photo. Good and fresh. No malansa taste! 128077128077128077

Love their Lunch Sets 128156 A variety to choose from all @295 128077 It comes with cabbage salad / sesame seed dressing, a bowl of clear soup ( Which tasted Meh) a little plate of potato salad (really tasty) and a piece of watermelon!

Of course I chose my favorite Chirashi set.. the sashimi was very fresh... There was Tuna, Salmon, Squid, Uni, Mackarel, Tamago, Shrimp and a teensy weensy piece of Scallop like thingy...

Will definitely go back to try the other lunch sets 128077128512128156

Quite disappointed on this visit as food quality seemed to have deteriorated.

Sushi and sashimi still superb, we had the sashimi moriawase and separate orders of salmon, tuna and hamachi sashimi.

The maki and onigiri were fine as well.

However, the gindara teppanyaki was overcooked and seemed to have been topped w off the shelf sauce that tasted weird and salty.

The yakitori moriawase was not appealing as well as it was overcooked and some were undercooked.

Yaki udon and kaki soba were bland and seemed to be prepared haphazardly.

Daisuke tamago was so-so.

We ended w meji ice cream and a lot of kwento and best thing is ....dinner was not paid by me hahaha

Verdict: if you want sushi or sashimi , Azami is the place to be but for other things better go to Tsukiji , Sugi or Inagiku

The food is amazing and the prices are relatively reasonable. The bento boxes are also reasonably priced (I think around 350 or 400).

The sushi is amazing. This is a restaurant started by the former head chef from Tsukiji in 2012!

If you know the famed Japanese restaurant Nihonbashitei along Pasay Road, you are sure to love this. Nihonbashitei is more of common Japanese food which makes it not that expensive as well. However, what sets Azami apart is its wide array of Japanese dishes. Their food quality and service is amazing too! Or maybe that's because we didn't go when there were lots of people..... But nevertheless, this restaurant made my day. Hehehe.

10084: salmon sashimi - very sulit! Not expensive and really fresh. I'm not usually a salmon sashimi person but wow.
128154: beef yakiniku lunch set - all the lunch sets are pretty filling. Comes with soup, fruit, bento box o your choice and whatever. Only P400! Their beef yakiniku is especially good and juicy; I was pleasantly taken aback.
128156: miso soup. I am really not a miso soup person, but according to my dad who drank my miso soup (and is a gourmet btw so you can trust his comments, the miso soup in Azami is the real miso soup. It's really fresh and there are seaweeds talaga. Real live seaweed. Hahahaha.
128153: katsudon - I was very happy with my katsudon order. It was not dry at all and the meat was just so delicious. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again. 128529
128155 Honestly I think pretty much everything here is good. I ate with my 2 brothers, my parents and my grandparents. I heard no complaints and we all seemed pretty satisfied afterwards.

I prefer this restaurant to Nihonbashitei actually, but you can't really compare them to each other since their target markets aren't really the same. But whatever. Good food. Can't wait to go back. :)
