Bag of Beans is a must-try when in Tagaytay because the food, service and ambiance are on point, it’s basically an institution. Out of all of the all-day breakfast places in Tagaytay, I think this one presents the best value for money. It’s not crazy expensive but it isn’t the cheapest either - regardless, you get your money’s worth!

I like this branch the best because I think it’s the prettiest one (that’s just me!). Food-wise, I love breakfast for dinner and for any time of the day actually so you can’t go wrong with their all-day breakfast dishes and filipino favorites. I really like their tocino and tapa and of course their coffee & hot chocolate are great as well. The food, in general, isn't the best breakfast food I've tasted but they're good enough.

Their service is great. There’s a good number of servers so they’re quick to respond. I also appreciate that even if Bag of Beans isn’t a fine dining restaurant, their staff is always so formal. I think that adds to the uniqueness of the place.

TIP: It’s best to go here early (yes, as early as when they open) or hours outside of their peak service hours because the place gets packed very quickly. Weekends are difficult most especially because their parking isn’t as big as it could be as well.

Bag of Beans will always be a staple when visiting Tagaytay and it’s great that they’ve opened more branches because if this one is full, there’s still a good chance for us to visit the next one.

Finally tried Bag of Beans.

Since I wasn't that hungrg yet, I only ordered their Blackforest Frappe (P170).

Sayang, I wasn't able to try their meals. It looks sulit. Next time will go back.

But I enjoyed the place. Nice to take photos.

It’s the fourth one in one stretch in Tagaytay-Nasugbu area. It probably started with awesome Baguio Country Club like raisin bread and their coffee beans.

The difference of this one is the much upgraded homey ambiance. It has two floors, two balconies and two sets of stairs. It’s not an ideal layout but all restaurants in Twin Lakes complicates with this set-up. For one I didn’t get to pay my overpriced Chicken Ala Kiev. Well I thought I did until 10km away from them.

Going back to the chicken. It’s a shame at Php 445. It was tasteless and oil filled meal. The serving is justifiable but what would you do with it?

We are a big group of 17. I got to try all sorts of dishes. What I really enjoyed was a bite of Chocolate Pancake. It was a thick serving with real chocolaty presence. No need for syrup on this one.

Aligue and Shrimp pasta could have been better if it had more crab taste to it and maybe bits of crab fat can heighten interest to this.

Their ribs is a steal at the same price as the Kiev. The meat was fall off the bone. The delicious barbecue taste is really integrated to the meat.

Bag of Beans general plus is serving size. Sometimes though with the amount of people that eat here, taste suffers.

Haven't been here for quite some time so I was really surprised with their increase in prices.

The servers were very accommodating.

I hated that there were a lot of flies in the restaurant. It was gross and it also baffled me how there could be so much flies at 8 in the morning.

Anyway, the food was just okay for me.

Tagaytay is literally my favorite place in the south, I drive up at least once in a quarter and for the last 4 years, during my birthday. Crazy as it may sound, I only got to try Bag of Beans last February 6th. It was obviously a slow Monday morning and there were only a couple of tables occupied so needless to say, we got really good service. The serving was HUGE. Value for money at its' finest...and the coffee did not disappoint.

Ended the foodcrawl here with a hot cup of caramel macchiato for Ony and hot chocolate for me. 9749

Ony's drink was good! We were surprised that it was not too sweet and weird and lasang beer (referring to Starbuck's caramel macchiato). We're coming back for this!!! 128525128076🏼

My drink, on the other hand, wasn't as good. 128546 I love hot chocolate but it was too "strong" and was kind of sour. I had a hard time finishing this one. 128528

I’ve been to Tagaytay a lot of times, however, we never really made it a priority to at least pass by this place for coffee. Maybe it’s because i’m not really obsessed over a cup of joe. I mean most times I could go with a cup or 2 within a week, but most could have that many or more in a day. Wow! You guys! haha

Anyway, since we had more time here last Saturday. I told my friends that we should head here before going to our friends wedding reception.

My mom, a coffee lover, told me to get a cup of HOT CHOCOLATE (Php 145 ) instead of coffee. So being an obedient daughter, I ordered that instead. haha But I didn’t leave of course without buying a few packs of ground coffee (250 grams each) to try at home. I even bought one box of their COCO BREAD (Php 130 for 6 pcs) for my breakfast the next day.

What can I say about the hot chocolate? Well, it wasn’t that thick, but it had a really rich flavor, had that slight sweetness too and was definitely delicious. I would have ordered another cup if only we had more time that afternoon. My friend who had the same also loved their hot chocolate.

The coco bread was good too, the bread itself wasn’t too sweet, since the filling inside was sweet already. It had that coconut meat chunks inside too. I think this is best paired with a cup of coffee. By the way, the bread may not be that soft, but pretty sure you’ll be full with 2 breads, because it's pretty packed.

As for the coffee I brought home, I got to brew one yesterday and today. I tried the HAZELNUT first since it was kind of new to me. I mean here in Manila, I would just order the usual Americano coffee. So having something different was kind of exciting to me.

What is this made of? Well, it’s still coffee beans but coated with flavour compounds, to give you that additional flavour such as in this case a nutty flavour that sinks in to your coffee bean. I could literally smell nuts and some kind of artificial scent when i first opened the pack, I can’t describe the artificial scent but I think you get what I mean by that. When brewed, it had that mild flavour, wasn’t too bitter either and honestly I don’t think you need any sugar for it. It was smooth and had that nutty scent and flavour, however I still like my coffee beans as is without this artificial thing added to the it. But having a cup of flavored coffee once in a while would be good too.

As for the ARABICA/ROBUSTA , I had it just a while ago and I think it wasn’t too strong either, but definitely had a richer taste compared to the hazelnut. It had that mild flavour also and wasn’t that bitter. It had somewhat of that roasted flavour, which i liked and I think adding just a little sugar would be enough already, even none would be just fine.

I like their coffee even though I feel like they are just a bit ordinary. But hey! I’m no coffee expert, so this is just my opinion and it’s better if you try it on your own.

However, all I can say regarding this place is that. Not only could you enjoy this place with some cup of joe, but they also have some great food choices, instagram worthy backgrounds for your shots, and a relaxing homey feel to this place also. I mean it’s nice to have that cool air outside while drinking something hot right?! The decors they have here are somewhat old, simple, yet romantic and gives you that feeling of being at home. I enjoyed my time here, even took photos too. So I would definitely be open to try their food on my next visit and take nicer photos during sunset hour.

Bag of Beans is undeniably one of the most favorite restaurants in Tagaytay. I remember when I was younger, I would ask my friends to go to Tagaytay just for their Blueberry Cheesecake.

I had the chance to visit Bag of Beans one weekend with my high school friends. We decided to have breakfast here since we like their coffee and hot chocolate. We arrived at around 10am, and the place was already packed. Luckily enough, we were able to get a table near where the souvenir shop is located.

I ordered their Double Decker Burger (360php). I had the beef patties cooked well done, but they were still juicy when served. I loved the quesong puti that went with my burger. It also came with generous serving of fries which was filling. I partnered my burger with a cup of hot chocolate (130php). It was served in their traditional Bag of Beans mug. It’s so instagenic! The drink was thick and very flavorful. My friends tried their Grilled Chicken Pesto pasta (340php). I tasted this as I also love pesto. Their version is on the creamy side, which wasn’t bad at all. The distinct pesto taste was still there, while the cream gave it another twist. The grilled chicken strips were soft, and really tasty. I also had the chance to taste their Grilled Porkchops (350php). For its price, I would say it’s sulit. They have really huge serving that my friend ordered an additional cup of rice. I just found the taste ordinary though. Finally, I didn’t know that Bag of Beans also serves Tinapa for breakfast until one of my friends ordered their Golden Smoked Tinapa breakfast set (270php). The tinapa was huge! The smokey taste was evident that I almost ate all of his order. Let us just say that the next time I’ll have breakfast here at Bag of Beans, this will be my order.

Since the restaurant was jam-packed during this visit, I can understand the slow service. I mean the server who assisted us still gave us what we needed that time. I also loved how perky she was when taking our group photos.

As usual, the ambiance of Bag of Beans is rustic yet homey. I love its architecture that they incorporated nature in their dining areas. I also love the artworks in some of the corners. The smell of their freshly-baked breads also added to the amazing and stress-free ambiance.

Bagof Beans, still, is a must-visit in Tagaytay.

P.S. Parking can be a problem during peak hours. It’s worth the wait, though. 128513

Refillable Barako coffee perfect for the Tagaytay weather.

Coffee on a rainy Saturday night in Tagaytay will always be a good idea even more so when you're at Bag of Beans with awesome friends to enjoy the night with.

I loved their unlimited brewed coffee (P150) paired with their Blueberry Cheesecake (P160). The coffee was perfect - it wasn't too strong and it was perfect for the blueberry cheesecake which isn't sweet.

I also loved the very friendly staff who assisted us. He had this very positive vibe and unique smile. He was very polite and he made sure we had our coffee refills right on time. It's just sad I wasn't able to take note of his name!!! But I still remember his face so when I go back, i'd make sure I'd be able to get his name to be featured on my very good reviews of the place :)

A Tagaytay visit wouldn't be complete if you haven't stopped by Bag of Beans. Though they have opened a lot of branches already, I still like the ambience of the original branch since the garden like setup makes you feel relaxed and at home.

I also love their all day breakfast meals and wouldn't want to miss it during every visit. Their beef tapa which I ordered during my last visit is served with 2 eggs and a sumptous amount of tapa. Do try their Hot Chocolate as well as it is really good and the cheesecakes which is a must try.

They also have a shop full of pastries just in case you'd want to take home pasalubong for friends or officemates.

What better way to relax and unwind than with good ol' friends?

So last weekend, I managed to "pull out" my friends from work (nyahaha!) on a working Friday for a spontaneous Tagaytay roadtrip.

One of our stops was Bag of Beans (given Don Limone has such expensive dessert sets - and no ala carte!) for a quick coffee and dessert before heading home.

We got the favorites - a cup of homebrew coffee, white chocolate mocha, cappuccino plus slices of blueberry cheesecake and apple pie ala mode!

Can I emphasize how good the blueberry cheesecake was??? It was the right amount of frozen, cheesecake goodness! And the fact that it's my fave cheesecake flavor! 128525

The coffee, of course, was a good complement; not too bitter nor sweet. Can you guess which cup was mine?

Overall, Bag of Beans so far doesn't disappoint with all my past visits, including this! 128077128079

Today we had a weekend brunch at Bag of Beans after trekking Taal Volcano. It was 595.00 but it is worth it! The food is not something you will remember or crave but it is good and fair enough. I love the drinks and desserts though 128523

I guess you also pay for the ambiance which has this rustic shabby-chic look. Very instagrammable haha!
