Everyone loves Tagaytay because of cold weather and restaurants around the area. Just recently, my officemates and I decided to spend our morning here on our way to Nasugbu. Since it was too early for us to go the beach, I asked them if we could have coffee at Bag of Beans in Twin Lakes just to kill off the time we had for that day.

Bag of Beans opens as early as 7:00 in the morning and serves breakfast for morning people. There were diners when we got there and staff seemed very busy. We seated in one corner as their veranda wasn't opened yet.

I loved the rustic and homey ambiance of Bag of Beans. Lakas maka aura with ig-worthy photos! From every detail, you're going to love everything you can see inside. They even have the corner where you can select some pasalubongs to bring home.

I ordered hot chocolate since I'm not a coffee person and believe me, it was the rich tasting hot chocolate I'd tried. It was really really creamy that I wanted more of it. It was comforting and satisfying at the same time.

Recently had lunch here, and my rating of 4 primarily goes to the overall ambiance of the restaurant—transparently, if this factor is to be taken out of the equation, I’d probably give a rating of 2 or 2.5 128528

I ordered the Sunrise Breakfast and I honestly think could have made a better version of this myself, without having to pay for PHP330. The scrambled egg was just the right fluff, but the cheese was so overwhelming. Never thought I’d live to see the day that I’d say there’s too much cheese on my food 128518

Customer service was slightly cold and reactive—there weren’t too many customers during the time we dined, so it was suprising that the staff weren’t that attentive to the customers’ needs. For instance, I had to request for pancake syrup for my pancakes and catsup for my egg and sausage. My friend also had to ask for salt and pepper for her order of steak. Minor things, true, but could have made much of a difference if these staple condiments were already served alongside our meals.

One other confusing thing with their restaurant—we initially thought it was closed, as the lower part of the venue had a “closed” signage on the door. But while walking around the area, we saw that their second floor entrance was open. So I recommend that they put that additional instruction in their lower floor entrance, just so they can properly inform customers.

Anyway, as I mentioned, love the ambiance of the place though—very relaxing and serene, and quite windy too: get ready to end up with a windblown face afterwards. Will possibly go back, but I think I prefer their other branches, which has the same rustic and homey feels but better customer service.

Since we arrived early in Tagaytay, I told the driver to proceed to Twin Lakes instead. Bag of Beans is a comfortable place to stay with no pressure of dining - because you'll be fine with a cup of coffee. The interiors are homey, the breakfast selection is not overpriced, and you still have the luxury of the Taal view while sipping your lattes.

Also, why I like Twin Lakes - they have a working elevator and they're PWD friendly. Finally!!!! We have evolved!!! We are now being considerate of everyone!!!

It’s the fourth one in one stretch in Tagaytay-Nasugbu area. It probably started with awesome Baguio Country Club like raisin bread and their coffee beans.

The difference of this one is the much upgraded homey ambiance. It has two floors, two balconies and two sets of stairs. It’s not an ideal layout but all restaurants in Twin Lakes complicates with this set-up. For one I didn’t get to pay my overpriced Chicken Ala Kiev. Well I thought I did until 10km away from them.

Going back to the chicken. It’s a shame at Php 445. It was tasteless and oil filled meal. The serving is justifiable but what would you do with it?

We are a big group of 17. I got to try all sorts of dishes. What I really enjoyed was a bite of Chocolate Pancake. It was a thick serving with real chocolaty presence. No need for syrup on this one.

Aligue and Shrimp pasta could have been better if it had more crab taste to it and maybe bits of crab fat can heighten interest to this.

Their ribs is a steal at the same price as the Kiev. The meat was fall off the bone. The delicious barbecue taste is really integrated to the meat.

Bag of Beans general plus is serving size. Sometimes though with the amount of people that eat here, taste suffers.

Bag of Beans has been on my to-go list for quite some time now but it's only recently that I got to go.

We had their..
Mushroom, Pepperoni, Sausage Pizza - this was really good and I ended up eating half of the whole thing. It was very cheesy! Quite oily though, but I think everyone expects that in a pizza hehe.
Bangus - I think it's bangus anyway. Didn't try this one.
Fillet Mignon - An okay dish. Asked them to make it well done but the meat seemed almost burnt in some parts.

Overall food was so-so but would come back for the pizza. Also want to try their pasta and burger in the future.

Place is really pretty, you can see Taal Volcano from here. Service was quite fast too despite the fact that the place was packed when we went.

Breakfast in Tagaytay!

We had an omelette, boneless bangus and barako. Food was good. Coffee was good. Service, although friendly, was a little slow.

Quiet a bit expensive for just a breakfast meal. We went here after Christmas to feel the coldness of Tagaytay and on our way home we had dinner.

Grilled tuna not well seasoned ; so is the mashed po that came with it.

Takes forever for an omelette. There were 8 of us and all the orders came on time except for the omelette... 128542 and when the waiter came, it was bacon with egg instead of the sausage and omelette that we ordered....

128518 YAY (must-try):

Nothing. Hated this experience.

🤔 MAY (can try):

Other restaurants.

128530 NAY (avoid):

Service is sooooooo slow. The other food came out on time but it took them what seemed like half an hour to serve the Shepherd's Pie, along with the Steak & Gravy one. When they arrived, the filling was way too hot and the crust was soggy, so the pies were obviously just microwaved - no reason to have taken that long. Obviously the waiter forgot even if he repeated our order beforehand.

And the others waiters SAUNTERED to our table when I was following up the order.

FINAL VERDICT: "Disappointed because I actually like your other branches. I'll go to those instead. Too far from Tagaytay proper anyway. We only passed you on the way back from Canyon Woods."

After visiting Calaruega last Wednesday afternoon we decided to stop at Twin Lakes to sip for a coffee at Bag of Beans. Honestly, it's my first time to visit this branch; 2 floors with great view especially when you're seated at the veranda.

I had caramel machiatto while my friends had cappuccino and pesto penne. I'm not fan of pesto pasta so I brought the spanish bread that we bought in Sonya's Garden to have something to eat while sipping my coffee.

I enjoyed the cool wind brushing my face and swaying my hair plus the coffee, though its a bit sweet. The pesto is bland and has bittery taste because they included the stem of basil leaves in making the sauce. We added parmesan cheese but its not enough to get the taste that we want.

The white rustic designs of the tables with some fancy decorations on the wall makes the resto's perfect ambiance. Service is great too, everyone is friendly.

Prices: coffee is 150Php and the pesto is about 250Php.
The resto closes at 9pm.

I just tasted the best pancakes amongst all other pancakes i've had 128561 i didn't expect their pancake to be that great, i thought it was just some ordinary pancakes but i underestimated it, i ordered their chocolate chocolate chip pancakes topped with mangoes and served with syrup on the side and sprinkled with chocolate morsels, it was really light and fluffy and not to mention moist and rich in chocolate flavor, mangoes complemented it well, it felt like heaven at every bite, i enjoyed it so much i forgot i was with my partner 128517, oh i forgot we also ordered their greek salad which was great too

This easily became my favorite branch of Bag of Beans. It's smaller in terms of land area but has two floors and an amazing view overlooking Taal. The second floor's interiors is my favorite with its white-washed wooden walls and rustic ornaments. So instagram worthy!

For the food we ordered tapsilog and porkloin with pepper sauce. Both were good. The tapsilog's beef was tender and flavorful. Can't say much for the porkloin as it only tasted like breaded porkchop with sauce. For dessert, we had panna cotta which was an absolute delight! Not too sweet but leaves a yummy lingering aftertaste. Best part about the food was the hefty serving!

Giving them 5 stars even if our server misheard and thought we ordered 2 servings of tapsilog. He kind of seemed annoyed after i said i just ordered one, he said he heard us say 2 orders and walked away before i could finish explaining. 🙄 But other servers were okay. We weren't following up but they kept apologizing when our food was taking long because the meat was frozen. Overall it was a good dining experience.

We were on our way to Nasugbu, when my tita got hungry. So we stopped here for coffee and a quick snack.

I wasn't that hungry so I ordered my most favorite Filipino miryenda! Fresh Spring Roll. The description of the dish was very enticing. They had me at SHRIMP. 127844

But woe is me, when my order finally came. It was not the fresh lumpia I had hoped for. It was practically a fusion of Vietnamese fresh spring roll, Filipino lumpiang sariwa and a twist of Italian.

The whole roll itself was very Vietnamese with the glass noodles and rice dough wrap. The dipping sauce was your typical peanut sauce for your lumpiang sariwa. And the deal breaker would be that one basil leaf in the roll. I mean, I love basil. It would be good in a bagel, pizza, pasta or on chicken. But it didn't work for me on the spring roll. 128563 Like eww 128534128547
I tried dismantling it but the basil leaf's flavor had already spread on the adjacent veggies and meat. 128554

I started regretting my order when I saw how happy my aunt was with her club sandwich with all sorts of fruits and veggies. 128557

Service wise, the crew was very friendly and accommodating. The place was definitely gorg! And the view, the view was AMAZING.

I'm definitely revisiting this place with Maverick Christopher P. And I'm staying away from the fusion dishes. 128514

Clear blue skies, puffy clouds, cool breeze, chirping birds and country music playing... How bout while eating pancakes?

And again, bag of beans here at twin lakes is one of the best and beautiful option for breakfast if going near the woodside--tagaytay. Last review i made here i mentioned about the pancake that i saw. And now i am trying that eye-catching pancake.

128204 128525blueberry pancake
What's cool with this is that the pancake batter is infused with blueberries--so the pancake literally looks blue. It got real good serving of blueberries in syrup--canned though. The pancake was not really stellar, it tastes homemade. Wildflour and ihop got better; but the experience is amazing anyway, the taste is a little bit grainy. There's a slice of orange for a sweet twist. The maple syrup is diluted. Tastes a bit weird. I'm already happy without the syrup but if you like a wet pancake, go ahead.

128204 cashew butter
Oh. Interesting they have this. 200pesos per 240g.

Oh. It's the first time to try alfresco alone here. Really good. Even on a 10am the wind is considerably cool. 128516

Woke up very early to Celebrate my birthday and Mother's Day this morning. Had breakfast buffet with my loves! Place was breezy, calm, cozy and earthy... Weather you pick to seat inside or outside. The comfort rooms are clean and has flower scent that I love! The food is not too pricy and everything I like in pinoy breakfast food was here. And has quality as well! Every food counter has attendants and they were very attentive! Love the flowers everywhere. The umbrellas the lights with flowers. The ambiance! Worth the travel. I like shabby rustic things. There's a cute motorcycle outside that is made of wood! They are open from 6:30-9pm buffet is only for weekends! They have bakery near at the other side of entrance!

This review is long overdue but this place is superb. Our family tried the buffet area and it was okay. Will definitely go back to try other cuisines.

Why would you love this place?

That's because the view is better here. The air is fresher, no need for air conditioning, the interior is more homey. That is why this is definitely better -- or best rather than the other bag of beans. Also still could not compare this from its neighboring restaurants at twin lakes. Saturday morning could be a possibility for you to visit this place. This branch does not have a lot of diners too (cause this branch got no buffet) well, its just enough for us to get our stomach filled with a good breakfast ala carte.

128204128525 pork tocino at PhP240
Appetite's way way up upon seeing this served in front of me. The sweetened pork got more portions of meat than fats. And the smell was really teasing me to gobble it all at once. But you know, we must eat with .. Grace in this place. Haha.
Apparently for me, the pickled veggies got more serving compared to my last visit and now it's rolled like a ball. Tomatoes and cucumbers for palate cleanser. Their eggs improved! Last time i remember parang plastic eggs. Now it was quite surreal. Haha.

Well, the witch that i'm with ordered pancake with blueberries. Aww... I think i have to try that next time 128539128523
