An estimated 1 1/2 hour travel time when we reached Siquijor Island coming from Dumaguete Port. And a 20 minutes tricycle ride to reach the known and famous restaurant in Siquijor called Baha Ba'r.
On my first look I was fascinated seeing the restaurant from the outside view (inside the tricycle). It's a 2 storey house that turns into restaurant. There's also a garden at the back of Baha Ba'r that made to be part of restaurant too, there's a wooden and ceramic/cement chairs and tables.
Before heading to the second floor, you need to remove your slippers, shoes or sandals. You should enter upstairs barefoot. It's a Filipino tradition/culture especially in provinces that once you enter in the other place you need to go inside their houses barefoot.
We were greeted in Visayan dialect by their staff when I enter the restaurant at the second floor. "Feel at home" feels when I saw the set up of the place (the bar, the sofa/ sala, the table and chairs complete that homey feels). The combination of brown, orange and green colors gives good vibes too. We were seated at the veranda of the restaurant. The cool fresh air with the garden view made us feel relax while the staff serves us water before we order for lunch.
For refreshment I got Saratoga Cocktail, a non-alcoholic drink made of pineapple, orange, lime and calamansi juice topped with lemonade for Php110.00.
Saratoga Cocktail - 5/5
"It's very refreshing I like the balance taste of all the ingredients in one glass. Not too sweet to drink."
For our lunch we order the bestsellers... Bulalo Steak, Stuffed Eggplant, Beef Rendang and Inihaw na Liempo.
Sizzling Bulalo for Php295.00 (braised beef shanks topped with mushroom gravy served with vegetables and fries) - 5/5
"This Bulalo Steak costs less than Php300.00. Surprise! It has 3 cuts (bones) sobrang dami... sobrang sulit... sobrang affordable... pramis! Ang lambot and masarap."
Spicy Stuffed Eggplant for Php170.00 (organic Baha farm eggplant stuffed with ground beef) - ️️️️4/5
"Not that spicy and the deep fried eggplant was half-cooked. And I find it good especially when you dip it in the ketchup"
Siquijor Pork Liempo for Php295.00 (grilled pork belly infused with Filipino BBQ sauce and topped with grilled fresh pineapple slices) - 4/5
"Yung pineapple slices yung nagdala, sumarap lalo! Especially when you dip it with homemade toyo-mansi"
Rendang for Php290.00 (curried beef tenderloin boiled in coconut milk, infused with lemon grass, coconut crumbs and turmeric topped with fresh green chili) - 3/5
"Although it taste good but the beef was not that tender... medyo matigas and not that spicy."
When visiting Siquijor, you should not missed this restaurant. The staff were accommodating and the place was instagrammable.
