I decided to walk from Glorietta to H.V Dela Costa yesterday,  bad idea...i know.  I passed by Balai Isabel.  I've been meaning to try their breads for the longest time.  Bought some pan de siosa and toasted siopao to go.  The walkathon and the 90 minute long meeting made me forget that i have bread sitting comfortably inside my bag.

Got home and my stomach is growling.  I made some tea and decided to much on the toasted siopao.  I was surprised that the texture is still soft albeit the x number of hours has passed.  The filling is generous and flavorful.  I almost hated myself for only buying four pieces.  3N's is still number one in my book but Balai Pandesal comes in second.  And oh,  Grams liked the pan de siosa,  she said i need to buy more.

Balai Pandesal reminded me of local bakery  we used to buy bread from when i was a kid.  The fresh from the oven pandesal you eat for breakfast,  lola slathers some mantikilya,  then sprinkles some sugar,  hands you a glass of Magnolia fresh milk (the one that's from the bottle and gets delivered in the morning about the same time as the paper).  You're all set while you wait for your school bus.

Balai Pandesal will give you all sorts of feels (a person who grew up in tge 90's will understand, we didn't have Eric Kayser and Paul then.  Well...they are in operation but not on our side of the continent).   The taste is reminiscent of my childhood.
