600 years in the same spot! If only this tree could talk! The stories that would be told would be mind boggling!
The park itself is not too far from Baler town. The locals have really taken a shine to taking care of this tree. An entrance fee to the park is charged but nothing exhorbitant, P10 for adults and P5 for children. Parking is a bit of a problem during peak season but still manageable. A limited number of small stalls offer food and drink by the side.
It takes 60 adults with arms linked to cover the circumference of the Millenium Tree. It's about 200 ft tall with its roots about 33 to 49 ft in diameter. It's also said to be the largest in Asia.
You can do pretty much everything in and around the tree. Yes, you can walk into an opening in the tree and see it from the inside. Climbing is allowed up to 3 meters from the ground. And if you are game, the local guides will direct you to pose in front of the tree while they do all their trick shots.
While the tree casts a big shade around its base, heat is still your enemy so hydrate constantly.
You would most likely have your fill of the tree and all the pictures you could take in about 15 minutes. Short visit but worth a thousand pictures and a million words of awe and wonder!
