Great food! Will recommend Stuffed Pljeshavica especially if you're a cheese person. It's a favorite, but so far I've liked everything I've tried here. Serving's big enough for sharing, but then the food's too good so why do that. Haha. This branch also has a more extensive menu as compared to the one in RCBC.

This restaurant has so much potential.

I can barley read the names of the dishes, but I never expected Yugoslavian food would taste this good.

My favorites would be item numbers 18, 27 and 29.

#18 would be their ground beef steak stuffed with mozzarella then served with rice or fries. They can make it spicy but be warned, you'll literally see and taste the chili pepper mixed with the mozzarella.

#27 is deep fried chicken breast roll then stuffed with either feta or mozzarella cheese. Served with fries or rice.

#29 is chicken breast steak in tomato sauce, stuffed with mozzarella cheese and wrapped and bacon

Budget per head would be P300 to 400. 128077🏻

This place always got me curious of what kind of food they serve so I finally decided to feed my curious mind and give it a try. When i entered i immediately thought i was so dressed down, i expected the place to be like recovery food or grams. But the interiors were so nice i felt like i needed to wear something decent instead of my cropped top and jogger pants. Haha! So about the food, we got the number 18 and 32 i forgot the names. But i expected more from number 18 for me it lacked flavor but the spice to it was good! Really liked the sausages for number 32 128523 maybe j need to go back for another round of 18 since i hear it really is good and full of flavor. Haha!

So this is what Serbs like Novak Djokovic eat! Had the Cevapcici platter with fries instead of rice or mashed potato. This are like flavor packed ground beef sausage links that paired well with the Goulash soup. This tomato based soup had a spicy kick and I was astounded to discover so much beef chunks in this that's good to share for 2-3. Place had simple set with wooden chairs and tables, saw families and couples enjoying their meal. 128522

My boyfriend and I dropped by Black Sheep last Halloween to support his best friend dj-ing there. We started getting hungry and thought of eating at Hungry Hound but their resto was closed already and we didn't really feel like drinking and munching on just fries. So we went to the crossroads to look for 24 hr places that we could get grub at and TADAAAAHHHHH we found Balkan!

I've been wanting to try this at Makati but I never found the time to do so lately bec it's location isn't normally where is be lurking around in. So anyway, we ordered their best seller which is the Stuffed Pljeshavica.

It's ground beef, stuffed with mozzarella. I am a cheese lover, but the taste of that ground beef was so scrumptious that I would've preferred more of it and less of the mozzarella! It's that good. However, I'm not quite sure the price is right at P330 I would probably value this at P220 at most but it's definitely worth the try :)

Haven't reviewed in so long due to the über hectic schedule brought to you by our school's trimestral academic pace. I'll be reviewing at least thrice a week starting tonight (or is it today already? Haha) I've got so much restos piled up for review! I wish looloo had the same "save" and "queue" feature as tumblr so I won't go over the limit of reviewing 8 places per 24 hours 128514

Please Peanut D EJ D create a save feature for reviews so we can post it later and not flood errbodeh hehe

I ordered their best-seller: a ground meat dish stuffed with mozzarella whose name I cannot pronounce. The waiters will usually point it out, so no need to practice reading / pronouncing it. Hehe.

The dish looked and tasted really simple, with just a siding of plain rice, chopped up cabbage and a small dollop of garlic sauce. I guess it relied on the spiciness of the meat for flavor instead of the usual garlic and hot sauces that are served in Mediterranean casual restaurants. Too bad I ordered it mildly spicy only. Parang kulang sa sipa. 128541

The place was really cozy, with some knick knacks on the walls that are reminiscent of (I assume) a Yugoslavian home. I think we were also dining next to the owners...a Yugoslavian family with 2 cute blonde little girls. So adorable. 128522

I like the simplicity of the food, but next time I will make sure to order a spicier version for more taste. I polished my plate off in less than 5 minutes. Hehe.

I ordered their Gourmet Burger while my companion ordered the Stuffed Pljeskavica. We loved it! They're both delicious. A bit pricey, but servings are big so you won't feel bad about splurging. The servers are attentive and courteous. I really liked my experience here and would love to go back to try their other stuff.

Really my new favorite restaurant in the Fort. Third time here today.. I got the stuffed beef something (#18 on the menu) the last two times I was here. The absolute best. Promise.

Tried the Chicken Batak tonight for a change. Super yum grilled chicken with mozzarella. 128523128523128523

Yugoslavian Home Cooking.

Found myself here again. I was planning to have Va Bene, but didn't want to spoil my visit there for the eatup next week.

I had the Stuffed Pljeskavica. Man I have no idea how to pronounce that but it was really really really good.

It was some sort of meat or patty that was folded in half and had mozzarella stuffed in it. Real good stuff. Mildly spicy.

My friend ordered chicken kebab. Whoopidoo. But when it came, We had no idea they are wrapped in bacon!

The bacon wrap seems to be a common thing here in Balkan.

Really good interiors here too. Nice date spot I may say. Only if they remove the I assume Yugoslavian pop music playing in the Background.

Food- 5stars
Place- 5 stars
Service- 3 stars

We arrived around 7:30 and there are still vacant seats. Around 9 it started to get crowded and the service became slower. We just then realized that there are only 2 waiters.

I'm trying to remeber the food that I ordered but I just can't. Make sure to order #18 when you visit Balkan Express. I love their food!! I just hope they have more servers next time 128522

Balkan

Serbian cuisine is actually very simple & spot on, beef, chicken, pork & lamb, in kebab or as sausages

Ambience :1108811088110881108811088
Bright , airy , quaint place in white with splashes of colors on some walls(now it reminds me of their goulash dish... Hehe... See pic 128541) little picture framed the walls & shelves filled with books .

Food:11088110881108811088
Mostly hard to pronounce dishes ...128561
I was recommended #18,25,27,28 and a few more, but Marco (the owner was there) said I shud try the chicken kebab , coz I want something light & quilt free....the kebab is soft & moist chicken breast grilled to perfection , wrapped with smoky bacon, perfect texture, love it chewy , grilled along side with sweet tomatoes & crisp onion to add more natural flavor to the meat serve with rice or fries as an option...I really love simple home cooked meals with the most freshest ingredients and simple spices.

Goulash , a bowl of Classic Balkan beef stew serve with bread... big chunks of juicy beef with pasta , taste like pumpkin stew with thicker consistency to turn it into a bowl of creamy soup dish... Great flavor + BIG SERVING

Service 11088110881108811088
Servers could smile more ... They look so beat up bored 11 in the morning ... but still very efficient
.. Oh well.. might be a Glenda aftermath

My first time in a restaurant serving Yugoslavian food and I liked it.128077

We ate there on a Friday night, making the restaurant's atmosphere more alive and cozy with groups of family and friends making so much noise. The place was clean and spacious with a good view of the BGC area. Wary of the serving size of European dishes, I ordered the picture above, a good spicy chicken sandwich with fresh french fries. The chicken was well seasoned and the fries thankfully crisp and not greasy at all. The rents meanwhile ordered from different parts of the menu, with the boss ordering Pljeskavica, which I loved more than my own order. Unfortunately, it was devoured before I had the chance to take a shot. The mozzarella oozing out of the even cut of beef was just heaven, I can't believe i've never had my meat served like this before. Its richness in flavor was perfect with a cup of rice or a good serving of mashed potatoes.

Unfamiliar with Yugoslavian cuisine, I noticed the food consisted of mostly bread and meat with some stew dishes and the regular salads. Not far fetched from Persian or other European cuisines. Overall, the place was worth a try. Good food and reasonable prices.

The cevapici platter gives you ten freshly made savory , spicy, meaty sausages in the Yugoslav style. They were so good, I was sorry-not sorry I had my companions try them. If this is the sort of thing Eastern Europeans eat regularly, I could live there. I wish I had a beer to go with then though. Such carnivorean goodness really hit the spot.

Tried the stuffed pljeskavica. Instead of rice or fries I ordered a salad. The dish is essentially a burger stuffed with mozzarella. The meat was well seasoned and grilled well. A bit well done for my taste but still juicy. I really appreciate that they allowed me to exchange the rice for a salad.

Good attentive service. It also was fortuitous that they had free Emperador so that's a plus.

Overall good experience.
