Obviously not the best latte art in the world, but their coffee does the job. Kept me awake for a late night at the office. Also, their coffee options go for 80 to 90 pesos only. :)

I recommend their pulled pork and coq au vin (would honestly order this more often if I could remember how it is pronounced: it's only a matter of time until the waitresses call me out on my repeated inquiry on the same thing).

That's it for now! Happy saturday! :)

The very hectic work schedule for the 1st quarter of the year pushed our office group to have a reunion with old teammates at Bastille. We needed to take a step back from work and to remind each other of our life outside work, and an efficient way to do that is to get our heads out of the cycle once in a while.
We chose this establishment very close to our office to close the 1st quarter. I’ve frequented this place several times before but was usually quite full forcing me to simply choose one main course. This time around, I was hungry enough to order an additional appetizer. My officemates ordered their own dishes as well, so here’s a quick commentary on my orders and some of my office mates’ orders which I was able to taste.

Croc Sisig on Melba Toast – a best seller. Simply Melba toast topped with crispy crocodile sisig and chicken liver pate. Sisig was a bit oily, but everyone should expect that from a sisig dish. Serving was reasonable given the price (220 PHP).

Tomato Soup – Creamy and very filling. I could eat this for my merienda, although it would seem pricey for a snack. (140 PHP)

Pulled Pork Adobo – pork adobo with vegetables and rice. Another best seller and it deserves to be called one. This is a favorite of mine. My other favorite would be the Roasted Coq Au Vin but I struggle to pronounce it so I usually go with the pulled pork adobo over that one.

Smores – Officemate’s comment: “I could make this at home.” And I believe him. Nothing special and a bit too sweet for me. Our group of 14 struggled to finish this single dish.

Owner approached us during our stay. He told us that we could rent the place for corporate events. Service level in this place by the way is great. Very attentive staff who seem to be trained to smile all the time.

That’s it for now. Take care everyone!

I've been to Bastille 4 times and i've never ordered anything i didn't like. Today i had their tomato soup, which i loved. Found the ingredients very fresh :) for my main course, ordered the pork bourguignon which is so sinful but very tasty.

You may also opt to try their pulled pork adobo which is a simple yet delicious dish. Plating wasn't bad either.

Our servers were very courteous and attentive. They were very pleasant throughout our stay. And since the owner talked to my partner and I before we left, might as well share his message that you can follow them on facebook or instagram because we can watch out for their valentine special. Dunno what it is, but prolly something worth checking out. We'll see.

Take care everyone! :)

Revolutionary cuisine? Hhmmmm...

So we had pumpkin soup- this would've been reeaallyyy good if no one got too excited with the salt. It was so good and it almost tasted roasted, (not sure if it was mentioned on the menu but it's my fave way) but man this was gonna make your kidney cry. Every time I scoop on it I just had to blurt out "Alat. Alat talaga". I couldn't contain myself. Lol.

Then we had the shrimp quesadilla which was good bec it actually had shrimp and was flavored well. Things got interesting with the pasta as we ordered the shrimp laing pasta and carbonara. The laing pasta was surprisingly good. I don't think it's for everyone but if Laing is a fave of ours. It actually just tastes like the usual laing with coconut and spice though if you add parmesan, it gets a little gourmet lol. The carbonara on the other hand is good also, it's got he thick and rich sauce. Both pastas were cooked well.

As for the croque monsieur, it's a regular ham & cheese sandwich with béchamel sauce on wheat bread. I enjoyed the simplicity of it and bec I can taste the butter. And i love butter.

For dessert, we had the smores and fried leche flan. The smores got me really excited but sadly, it was disappointing. I don't know what choc they used but it tasted cheap, like the baking stuff. It was basically melted choc with toasted mallows on top in a bowl were you had to dip the graham crackers. The sad part is the choc was like soup, like syrupy. Would've worked if it was thicker I guess. As for the flan, it's coated with flour and fried. It's okay. The flan tasted very eggy and rich. Not amazed by any of the desserts. Good thing their coffee was good.

This cafe is getting a lengthy review bec it has potential and I'm pretty sure they can do better next time 128512

I am writing this review just because the new owner is a friend (kidding!!) hehe.. We love the buttered shrimps (superb), nachos and blue iced tea here. (Tip: instead of buying the bottomless iced tea, go for the LARGE one. Good for sharing. It is the size of a pitcher) .. Good service (one of the crew is my student, maybe that's why. Lol!!).

This is a posh coffee shop, i do some of my meetings here. Price is not so bad and lots of seats. Many cute girls pass by too. Parking only limited though. Gets messy with the 7pm rush hour traffic too.
