I recently attended a wedding in Alabang and since the reception venue was just a stone throw away from this joint, I just had to dropby. I’ve been eyeing to visit this place since it opened but it being so far down South, it would have to be an occasion itself for the drive. Plus it was #carmageddon on that very wedding day, so I had absolutely no intension of driving back North early. Luckily, Jayson J was just in the area too, and in the spirit of utter #teamkaladkarin-ess he gladly joined me in my quest for caffeine. Driving back would be a real feat so I had to prepare for the long journey. 1285699996🏼

Unfortunately it took me a long time before I could leave the party, it was already about 9:45PM. Bean and Yolk closes at 11:00PM, but since I was really set on trying it out, we still went for it. Between leaving the reception, changing into regular driver clothes and moving my car, it was already 10:20PM when we got to the place. Apparently, at the last hour they no longer accept dine in service, so I was compelled to have my coffee to go. I’m not complaining though. I have to mention that had we stayed in the cafe, I would’ve ordered a S’mores Mocha because it’s the most IG-worthy drink. At least that’s what I’ve seen on a lot of social media platforms. 1285699996🏼

So on to what I ordered. As per Jayson’s recommendation, I got the Gianduja Latte. I got it as a hot drink, though it was just warm when I got it. It was pretty and as I saw on Norman’s and Cindy’s reviews, it would’ve been prettier had I drank it inside. But again, no complains here and I completely understand this operations protocol. People like me in the service industry should know that. 128568

The hot Gianduja Latte at PHP 175 is fantastic. Kinda steep for the price and it was a rather small cup, but it honestly felt like a warm hug while I was having it in the middle of bad traffic. The hazelnut chocolate flavor was just so well balanced with the espresso, it was delicious! And it was not too sweet, similar to a mocha, but even better in my honest opinion.

Ultimately, I loved it! 12857110084

I have friend who shares the same love for breakfast food as I do so we always end up having brunch dates. Brunch cos we both can't wake up early 128517
This time we went to Bean & Yolk for a brunch and beyond date. We had the place all to ourselves on a weekday.
She got the Ube waffles which looked divine and even had Macapuno while I got their delish ricotta Pancakes. So so good I swear! We also got a plate of sweet potato fries to share.
We both got the Iced Latte with a shot of simple syrup which turned out really well.
Great place for brunch etc but it's not a place for someone who has a big appetite 128513

Finally tried the RICOTTA PANCAKES and it’s sooooo goood!!! Like omg!! It’s fluffy soft and yummy!!! Imo, it tastes so much better than WF’s haha sorry, not sorry! 128541

And alsoooo, they now have FRUIT BOWL!!!! Omggggg!!!!!! Tried the WILL YOU BERRY ME SMOOTHIE BOWL and it’s also very good. I like that they used frozen fruits so the smoothie is thick and not watery! It’s not too sweet also. Just pure fruity goodness!!! Loved the generous toppings of fresh fruits + chia + coconut also. Sana they offer other options/flavors na rin next time!!! 128556

PS: they also have CHIA BOWL. I’ll try that next time! 128155128155128155128155

It’s a very rare occurrence to find myself somewhere in the South, of course, my caffeine-addicted self didn’t pass up the chance to visit some of the coffee shops in the area.

One of ‘em is an old favorite — Bean & Yolk. I guess I’m still heartbroken over them closing down their store in Poblacion, Makati and relocating to Westgate, Alabang that it took me a long time to visit their new store. Ganun yata talaga, kahit nasaktan ka na, babalik at babalik ka parin. Charot! 128556128514

Kidding aside, I was on a roadtrip with Norman Lester T and Edison A and the first stop to our South Coffee Crawl was Bean & Yolk. We ordered the following —

127859 Farmer John (215php)
Buttered brioche with fried egg, caramelized onions, ham and cheddar cheese. Loved this! It has a cumin-y taste which added a bit of kick to the sandwich.

127859 Latte Gianduja (185php)
Juskelerd, this drink! I’m not sure how to describe it, it’s creamy, tasty and not too sweet, perfect on a hot day! 128517 It’s made of espresso, hazelnut ganache with hazelnut foam and dark chocolate shavings.

127859 B&Y Mocha (175php)
A forever favorite. Kahit yata lumipat pa sa Tuguegarao ang Bean & Yolk I’d still go there just to have their mocha. Haha! It’s one of the best mochas in the metro, imho. They perfected the balance between espresso and chocolate.

I’m super happy that their food and coffee just seemed to get better. Their new place is spacious and well-lit. More seating as compared to their intimate and cozy place back in Poblacion. Staff here are friendly and cool, the ate let us borrow the tray of eggs as props for our photos, she even refilled it ‘coz one egg was missing. Yay to ate! 128079🏻 Hope I can visit again soon! 9749127859

Finally tried Bean and Yolk again after xx months. I remember loving their small and intimate Makati branch so much.

Their not-so-new and only branch now is located at Westgate Center. It’s kind of far from me so I made sure to pay them a visit when Cindy S and I went on a road trip down South.

First impressions first on this branch: it’s big, bright, modern, but still comfy. The home-away-from-home vibe is still there. I love its pastel theme, it’s very pleasing to the eyes.

For the food, I had Farmer John and hot B&Y mocha.

*Farmer John - fried egg, cheddar cheese, ham, bbq mayo, caramelized onions, buttered slice brioche. Sooo GOOOD, not to mention that it looks heavenly as well. I’m not sure if it’s just me or what, but I would describe this as “if someone asks what comfort food is, I’ll show this photo coz this explains it well.” 128539

*B&Y Mocha - Cindy S recommended this drink and thank goodness I followed her. This cup of joe is a cup of happiness.

I also tried Cindy’s order, Iced Latte Gianduja. I like how this looks as I can see beautiful layers of coffee, milk, and chocolate. Though I also like how it tastes, I’m not going this in the future as I’m not a fan of grainy drinks.

Overall, it was a nice visit. Comfort food and drinks which are good for the soul. 💯

P.S. Please open a branch in Makati again. Huhuhu 128546128153

Im back again 127926

There’s another food recommendation i have for you again.

128204128525 Pork and Beans @300+
i wonder why booky hasn't made any updates on its menu. This is i think, under their breakfast all day menu. I'm always a lover of pork and beans (because honestly i love Hunt's) but B&Y's version is just mind blowing. they use three kinds of beans, baked and sauteed it in finely chopped garlic.
The pork is on top of it, 5 pcs thickly chopped pork belly it was . It wasn’t really that tender, it was rather above average. There’s the tomato sauce at the side.
It’s served with two eggs (your choice on how it’s done) and default garlic rice. You can choose cauliflower rice or black rice for that healthy option (with additional charge though)

The Gianduja Latte is a default for me every time i go here.

New York Cheesecake
You just want to say pass on this.

But still, i love the main dish that i got

But first, breakfast!!! The most ubiquitous of pairings, coffee beans and eggs offer sustenance to our bodies and to our wits! Come have a breakfast of fluffy Ricotta pancakes with good strong cappuccino at Bean & Yolk, Westgate Hub, Filinvest, Alabang!

The Ricotta Pancakes in itself was a work of art, a pretty plate of the fluffiest pancakes I've seen, wit banna brulee on the side and little chunks of ricotta cheese with sliced almonds peppering the plate, and a sweet dollop of chantilly cream to finish it all. Don't forget to drizzle the maple syrup for that wonderful maple sweet goodness. All the different flavors and textures make a sinfully good medley you can't get enough of. Honestly I can finish this one plate on my own!

Paired with strong coffee hailed from one of the best coffee roasters in Singapore, your mornings have never been better.

I particularly liked the quiet elegance the muted blue color they used on their interiors give off. It silently tells you to stop, smell the coffee, eat the eggs, and enjoy your morning first before anything else.

It sure will be one of my favorites here in this part of the South!

Been seeing the resurgence of Bean and Yolk now in the new and larger home at Westgate Alabang.

Infuenced by the impressive pictures of looloo reviews specifically that of Ruth S I zeroed in for this coffee joint to have a very light breakfast.

The place is more spacious and have very good relaxing acoustic music. Also went here to read some chapters of a book as it has a good illumination by the ray of the sun.

Ordered an avocado toast as I'm a big fan of avocado on bread, even at home I have some toast with sliced avocados on it .Their version is consists of sous vide egg, mashed avocado ,chili flakes and lime.I liked this because the egg was not too runny so that it will not overwhelm and add to the richness of the avocado ,a nip of lemon juice over make it more appealing and appetizing.

As for the beverage I've got the flat white.

For this short stay I would say it still charms me,"bagong tambayan" discovered in the south.Free wifi, electric outlets ,good service .128077128077128024🦁

After a hearty lunch nearby, suggested to have coffee at Bean & Yolk. Place was packed but we easily secured seats inside since we were only a group of three. Staff was warm and friendly. Made small talk when engaged. The coffee was good, the suggested mocha caffe was really smooth and tasted indulgent. The cheesecake was equally delicious, we enjoyed the creamy baked texture of the cake. Flavorful even if eaten by the small forkfuls, paired with the coffee. I wouldn't mind getting lost in Westgate again if i have a cup of joe from Bean & Yolk.

Went here again for the chorizo mama which i have first tried in their makati branch.
For 250PhP burger option, i found it good. If my taste buds serve me right, i think it’s a little tastier this tine. Bun looks burnt but ended up okay

I also had their flat white but i did not like because of my fault. I substituted the the milk for almond milk (add’tl 30PhP). IT’S NOT ADVISABLE. The almond milk separated from the coffee. Haha. But i don’t know, wild flour just does is the best when it comes to coffee with almond milk.

Cauliflower Fritters + Arroz ala Cubana with Organic Black Rice! After workout dinner combo!

My friend and I met at Westgate, around 9pm. Got hungry after the intense workout I did (workout to eat 128517) but I don’t want to waste the calories I burned so I looked for something healthy.

Then I remembered Bean and Yolk but I forgot their operating hours so I went to facebook to check. Sent a message to their page and fortunately they responded quickly. Last order is at 9:30!

We ordered Cauliflower Fritters for appetizer. I love the combination of their fritters with cream cheese.

Then ordered arroz ala cubana with organic black rice (healthy! Yey! Haha). The meat is soooo delicious and perfectly matched the black rice!

Budget is around 300-500 per person :)

Since it’s dinner time I did not order any coffee. But will surely go back to try their coffee :)

Delayed review, had brunch with the entire family... we were 14 in all so i think we caused a ruckus in the restaurant. It was also the bday of my younger sister and she raved. about he makati branch. We were all excited and hungry. Service was warm, friendly and very professional. The coffee was amazing. Sadly the food was hit or miss. We all agreed the food was bland, waffles very cold, avocado toast needed more seasoning etc. little small things. Im guessing an off day for the kitchen especially when 14 hungry people arrive. But nevertheless, would still return and recommend.

What? Bean yolk is already located at alabang?! Yes, apparently i am the last one to know about this; i’m SAPPY because you cant enjoy the sunshine anymore in their new place; but then their place and menu (contents) became bigger, and it’s super near my work place (and gym!)

128204128525 Avo Toast @195PhP
The serving is smaller compared to EACH’s but this one is better when it comes to taste. It got thick layer of mashed potato that’s brimming to the toast’s edge, on top of it is a really well made soft boiled egg! It got some bit of chili flakes on top, but really does not affect the taste. Recommendable if you want a light breakfast.

128204128525 Gianduja Latte @160PhP
This one is not in the coffee menu items; you can see this enlisted under special drinks. This is somewhat a mocha drink with really good “nutty choco” or “ferrero” or “hazrlnut” tasting mocha. The barista is kind enough to make me a double seahorse latte art.

The place can accommodate about 100 pax but i doubt if they do experience jam packs hours.

Got an errand on south so i want to make the most out of it and visit as many good food places at south. Their branch at poblacion seems temporary closed as of now so visiting here is definitely worth it.

I need to grab a light food so went for their avo toast and matcha latte.

Avo toast was really really good 128077128077128077 the egg was perfectly poached without having it too much overcooked. While at the end of taking picture, the egg slowly burst out. 🙁 nonetheless this item is a must.

Matcha latte was of decent quality. I really like how they made it not too sweet.

Thanks Ruth S for recommending. Few more places to go. 128512

BEAN AND YOLK makes me really EGGcited and my egg loving heart EGGtra happy!!! 128155128155128155 Bean and Yolk is my happy breakfast place and it will forever hold a special place in my heart and tummy! 9786

Been able to visit them 2x already and below are the dishes we were able to try:

| CARA’s FAVE
| CHORIZO MAMA SANDWICH
| CHORIZO MAMA SALAD

It’s not so hard to also make Cara’s Fave your favorite because it’s really good and comforting. Grilled cheese with honey + fried egg + uber soft brioche bread?? YES YES PLEASE!!! 🤗

Feeling extra meaty? Try the chorizo mama sandwich. Perfectly cooked sunny side up egg + cheese + bbq mayo + thick chorizo patty + uber soft brioche bun = YUUUUUUMMM!!! Ony liked this a lot that he almost forgot to share this! 128517

On a diet???? Don’t worry about not being able to try chorizo mama sandwich version because they also have a salad version. Serving size of the salad was generous. They added too much chorizo that we ordered extra bread pang palaman hahaha! Anyare sa diet? 128514128517 PS: they also have a salad version of Farmer’s John. 128521

| ICED GIANDUJA
| ICED MATCHA
| B&Y MOCHA

All of the drinks we tried were all good!!! They really know how to prepare good coffee. My matcha drink was surprisingly good. It’s not too sweet nor too milky. Just the right blend of matcha goodness!! Would love to try the latte version next time. 128154

The mocha and gianduja are default orders! You just can’t go wrong with these two! 🤗

***NEW ITEMS***

| AVO TOAST

Avocadorable because the egg was perfectly cooked! Soft and runny! Huhu. I sincerely enjoyed everything about this toast. Ang sarap huhu!!! 128154128154 Tastes even better with lemon and chili flakes!! Sana they also consider adding other options for the topping (i.e., salmon or prosciutto).

| B&Y CHICKEN TOCINO BOWL

Not only is this bowl extra extra pretty and so ig worthy, this is also hearty and healthy!! Instead of white rice, we tried the Caulirice (+ 95php) and no regrets!! The caulirice was surprisingly good and filling! And the chicken tocino was tasty. So happy to finally eat tocino after xxx years. Tocino goodness without the guilt and preservatives. Also, liked the mangoes, spinach, tomatoes, and egg!! Super filling and yummy!!!

| OATMEAL CHAMPORADO

The Oatmeal Champorado was good and healthy!!! Though they used oatmeal, it was still comforting (for me) just like the “real” champorado. I just wish they added or provided more powdered milk!! And would be better if they used dark choco? 🤔

| CHOCOLATE TABLEA CAKE

The cake was also good. Classic chocolate cake. Moist and not too sweet. 🤗

PLACE is really pretty. It’s a lot bigger now. More space. Brighter place. I just love their new space and design now!!! 128525

SERVICE was good!! You can’t really say anything negative in terms of the service.

✅ Fast service
✅ Good customer service
✅ Hands on owners

Can’t wait to go back and try other new dishes!!!!!! 128155128155128155

A Poblacion (or as I like to say it, pobla-thyon) original has finally landed in the south! I've been meaning to try it and finally got the chance last week when I had a tita brunch with my friend.
Love the simple and clean lines, the pastel colors mixed with some rose gold and marble accents. The place itself is pretty big (one of my friends actually had her baby shower here 128118) and receives a lot of natural light.
Chose to have the farmer John Sandwich and my friend got the one with chorizo. We also shared their sweet potato fries. For drinks I got their iced mocha and my friend got the one with almond and turmeric.
Food arrived about ten minutes later and they were all so picture worthy! I also appreciate how they use steel straws 128077 my sandwich was really good and filling. My friend also enjoyed her order. The iced mocha was delicious! Probably one of the best I've tried! The turmeric drink was also good as per my friend but I didn't try it hehe!
Service was good, no complaints.
Total bill was around ₱1100. Kinda steep I think for sandwiches but it's OK. Will defo be back with my other tita friends 128522

I paid a visit to the last mechanic that fixed my car and decided to drop by at the new spot of Bean and Yolk before heading back to the north. And boy, I'm so glad I did!

The Westgate branch is wider and more chic-looking compared to Poblacion (huhu why do you have to leave Makati128557). Looking at the number of seats, they can probably house around 40 people. Expect students and young professionals loitering thanks to the long table with eight power outlets. I believe 6 more are available near the couch area.

For the food, I'm happy to say that they were able to replicate the quality from their former location. There were also additional items on the menu. Salads, waffles, warm plates for those who are looking for a hefty meal and a number of desserts which I was giddy about.

Its been a while since my last visit so I opted for my favorite sandwich - Cara's Fave! Fried egg with runny yolk, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, hot honey compressed in a buttered sliced brioche. So good!

I also had their B&Y mocha (cold) which was very chocolatey but not overly sweet. I was very interested in trying their desserts so I ordered two. The banoffee chocolate mousse pie had a good number of ripe banana slices, caramel icing topped with a thick amount of mousse. I liked the crumbly texture of the chocolate crust which holds everything together.

I have nothing but love with their chocolate tablea cake! The cake was moist but not too dense and dark and rich chocolate icing was perfect for my taste. Sitting in the middle is the thick yema like-cream that makes the dessert more enjoyable to eat. I'll surely get this cake again if I'm in the area.

Dining here, I have come to believe that Bean & Yolk will continue to prosper in the south and I hope they open more branches in the future. Congratulations B&Y team!

I had a cup of really really good latte last night here at Bean and Yolk! The place looks really cool and cozy, right smack in the middle of the Westgate Center. Thank you Dennis O for the reco. They actually opened just 3 weeks ago!

Ask the baristas about their coffee and they’ll tell you about how good their coffee is, and that they serve REAL specialty coffee.

I’ve tried the “Bean”, and I loved my cup! Soon, Im coming back to try out the “Yolk”, and I’m quite excited as they do have a lot of yummy choices on their menu. 128521

Hooray Bean and Yolk is now open in west gate Alabang. Have been trying to visit their Poblacion branch but was never able to drop by. After enduring the SnR sale last Month, me and my friend agreed to have a snack in west gate since its just behind SnR. That's when I saw the signage of Bean and Yolk. Yey!!!

This branch is more chic and instagrammable vibe compared to their Poblacion branch. It got quite similar vibe as Sunnies cafe. I love the pendant light that they use hear very minimalist and elegant looking. Learned that they got this from Home Cartel. One of the IG feed that I really love when it comes to interior lighting.

For the food and drinks, I got the Smores hot cocoa and Cara's fave. The smores was relaxing good. This is really good especially while its hot. This is the kind of drink you want by your side while reading a book in a rainy afternoon. For the Cara's fave, its a grilled cheese sandwich and one of their best seller. It was gooey good. Now I know why people are raving this sandwich.

Overall this place is a perfect spot quiet atmosphere. Food and drink was good. Anytime fitness is just downstairs. So this will be a perfect after gym place. hehe.
