Situated inside Olongapo's biggest mall, the place is sensational. Whenever I am in my hometown (Gapo), I normally meet friends and/or dine out. This place is one of the most suggested place and I found out why. They serve the most delicous macchiato in town, plus they are the lone place in the mall that offers Carmen's best dairy ice cream.

Their food are okay, I must say. Not too expensive though.

During weekends, theres plentiful of customers that they have to put guests under waiting list.

a must try in subic! ben's kitchen is located inside the harbor point mall, and they have generous servings!
that chocolate drink is from Xtremely Xpresso Cafe in which ben's kitchen delightfully offers! we also had platter of ribs, this is good and serves for 3-4 friends, the shrimp linguine pasta is heaven, the creamy sauce, shrimp, oil and squid all goes well! tried tomato soup for that health buff image, lol.

After dinner at another restaurant, we went for coffee and dessert here. We would have liked to sit inside where there's AC but every seat is already taken so we had no choice but to sit outside. We were given the menu promptly and a server also got our orders after a few minutes. While my friends chose their coffee, I selected a dessert and chose from the display chiller inside. Would have liked the Mango one but it was already looking a bit dry so I went with Marjorie G 's recommendation.

The Decadent Cake looked sweet and dense. But it was not so upon first bite. The cake was still airy and spongy and the frosting not overly sweet. It was decadent indeed.

"The owners were friends and fought among themselves. And now their business is closed," is what my friend said about Cafe Balooga. That's where he would have taken me for a good coffee in Olongapo had it not been for that sad fact. Instead, we went to the cafe restaurant sitting across from it, Ben's Kitchen.

Ben's Kitchen can be found inside the Ayala Mall in Olongapo City, Zambales. The place was full to the brim so we stayed at the al fresco area. Because we just had dinner, we no longer bothered to check their food selection, save for the desserts.

There was a separate menu for the coffee and I was impressed that the price was no more than 100 pesos. My friend ordered Vietnamese coffee. I was supposed to get that one too but when I heard that they don't offer it iced, the way Vietnamese do, I decided to pick another one from the menu.

What I had was Shockwave, their own coffee concoction that has milk, coffee, and lots of whipped cream. I cringed at first sip because the drink was too darn sweet. It was so sweet I almost wondered if I ordered a milkshake. The whipped cream, based from the taste seemed to be cheap. It wasn't as creamy as those that are used in more popular coffee shops. It tasted so sugary I wasn't able to finish the entire glass.

We tried the Decadent Cake, which I suggested to my friend all the while thinking about the Torte Cake. Yes, I mistakenly recommended a cake, even told my friend that decadent cakes are good, when really, I was thinking about torte cake. My memory is really bad sometimes. So when they finally served it and I realized that I remembered it wrong, I almost cringed when I saw how dark and chocolatey it is. Given the fact that I wasn't enjoying my overly sweet coffee, the last thing that I wanted was another overly sweet treat.

Surprisingly, the cake was good. It was sweet but not in a painful way, if you know what I mean. It was dense, the caramel ganache wasn't dripping, and it wasn't "nakakaumay."

As with the Vietnamese coffee, my friend said that it was strong, just like the Vietnamese coffee that he had in Vietnam.

And there goes my little review of this resto cafe in the city of Olongapo.

One thing I love about going to Subic is eating out with my family. This became a tradition/ hobby of ours that every month we will eat at a certain place for consecutive times until we are "sawa" and "umay" na.

For this time of the year, this is our current go to restaurant. I think this is like the Xtremely Xpresso, but they served different food (?).

Nachos has huge servings and has a lot of cheese.

Their ribs are to die for!! Good thing that they retained Xtremely Xpresso's famous ribs. It is really soft and has this melts in your mouth flavor.

I suggest that when you go back to Subic for a beach trip, you better be going to this place the last. Because it has a huge amount of serving that can make you beach body to ... Body. 9996🏼️

My son ordered Xtremely Xpresso famous ribs for dinner at Ben's Kitchen. I was a little disappointed how the ribs were presented the back side of it was burnt and it looks like the ribs were cooked way before hand.

The staff ask for a choice of what side dish for the ribs ( rice, baked potatoe, mashed potato)
I wish they can change the option for the meal. Instead if having the rice as side dish why not include the rice in the order?

The presentation was dry and unappealing for me.
An order cost P180.00

Ben's Kitchen - Shrimp Étouffée

It is a combination of infused spices with Shrimp topped in steamed white rice and a slice of lime and garnished with spring onions.

Price: P200
Would I order it again? No, I can't distinguish the mixture of spices they used.
Not a child friendly meal.

Another trip to Subic brought me to Ben's Kitchen(by Xtremely Xpresso). I really enjoyed my past experiences with XX before so I hoped this delivers. Was kind of confused going in at first since the blue interiors and uniforms give me a cafe or bake shop vibe.

It was nice of them to offer a bowl of popcorn right after we ordered. Popcorn was just right served plain salted and with that oil that cinemas have even if there was a burnt piece or two hahaha.

Tried their beef stroganoff. You can order rice, mash or baked potato with your main dish. I got the mash. Mash is nice and buttery. Solid outside but creamy if mix it. First impression of the beef is almost kebab like with spiced cream sauce and that's not really a bad thing. Beef strips are good with some bacon bits and mushroom.

Filling food for around 150-400 range. Friendly waiters suggest bestsellers if they see that you're confused on what to order. Overall, I really liked it and I'll definitely come back.

Was craving for pizza and was on a budget, but didn't want the usual pizza from greenwich, pizza hut or shakeys.

First time at harbor point mall and we passed by ben's kitchen. So we tried them out. They serve unlimited popcorn once you are settled in. Nice thing also is that if you have kids in tow they give you a placemat like quiz and crayon that the kids can keep busy with.

So ordered their pizza, can't recall what the ingredients were but I devoured it like there was no tomorrow. Lol :)

Wifey also ordered their baby back ribs w/ mashed potatoes. It was also good but went to racks the previous day and ordered the same so I had a bit of ribs withdrawal syndrome.haha I loved their mashed potatoes as well.

So overall this place is a must go, good enough food serving and it's not too hard on the wallet as well.

Don't have photos to share but service was great. There's free popcorn served at your table, you can even ask for more if you like. Lol! We ordered Potato Salad, but it wasn't chilled, had Bacon Cheeseburger, it was huge but tastes blah, Meatball Spaghetti but my cooking is better. If it wasn't for the refillable Iced Tea which tastes similar to Wendy's, plus the all around friendly service, it was okay.

I love the interior of Ben's kitchen here in Harbor point Subic. It's like the girly kitchen in your home. There's a free popcorn whenever you order there. Some of the food in the menu are from the Xpresso restaurant also in Subic, because they have the same owner. The food was good and the price is not that expensive and its worth it. :)
