This is probably one of the oldest restaurants in BF Homes right now that is still operating. They've been serving affordable japanese dishes for ages. Needless to say, they already established loyal customers within the area.

The place looks like an old beer house but its actually a small resto. I felt bad since I only first tried them last November 2015. Their P90 Gyoza for 6 pcs got me visiting this place.

Aside from Gyoza, they also have different types of maki ranging from P55 to P165. Their Chicken Teriyaki for P145 is perfect to pair with rice. We also ordered Ebi tempura for P200 and Yakisoba for P145. These are already perfect for sharing! I like the way your P500 can go a long way with this prices! Affordable and delicious japanese dishes. 128522

I will definitely visit this place in a heartbeat and try their other dishes! 128525

PS: Mind you its an old resto so expect some cobwebs or dust mites inside. I heard that they renovated the place late last year. But parking is still a problem. 128540 🕸

First time i tried this was on a hot afternoon and it didn't disappoint. It may look like a run down house but inside you'd feel like in a simple airconditioned ramen-joint. The menu is affordable though limited as to there are certain Japanese cuisines not present. I've tried their cold udon and gyoza and it definitely filled my appetite. Can't wait to return and bring my family and friends here. 128077

Good food for the price you're paying! Nothing spectacular but for P90 for 6 pieces of Gyoza you can't go wrong! 100 pesos for both the Katsudon and Gyudon rice bowls! Will definitely come back!

Cheap but delish japanese food! 128076🏼 Love their tofu and miso soup. Also their chicken yakitori is good--lightly tasted but still yummy.

For a group of 5, each ordering a rice meal of their own and additional orders of 2 tuna and salmon sashimi, 2 tofu, and miso soup for everyone, P1475 is indeed very cheap!

Will definitely go back here if I'm within the area! 128522

128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻 four of us left the place really full and we (i mean, my mom128518) only paid less than 1,500 Php!

Our orders were:

127843California maki- better than other california rolls we've had.

127845gyoza- juicy dumplings with their bottoms good and crisp! This is a must order when you eat there.

127793kani salad- a mixture of shredded cucumber and kani, japanese mayo based dressing and the orange roe thing which i forgot the name of. We thought it was ok but would probably not order it again.

127844Shrimp tempura (Ebi-Ten)- 4 pieces of large shrimp tempura and 2 pieces of veggie tempura. The batter was crispy and tasty and they weren't that oily. My mom really liked this!

127840 croquette- we thought it would be like breaded, deep fried mashed potato balls only but nooo, it was more than that. There were 2 flat rounds of sweet potato/squash, ham, onions and potato cubes mixed together then deep fried. Served with sauce and some shredded cabbage. So good!

128025 grilled squid- a medium sized, perfectly tender grilled squid. It was a bit bland for me.

And some good, sticky japanese 127834

127862 I enjoyed their hot tea. It had a roasted taste to it, kind of like yabu's roasted barley tea.

Overall, we enjoyed everything. The place isn't the best but the food and affordable prices make up for it. The servers are nice and accommodating too 9786

Food is great for the price. Ordered california maki and Gyoza for starters and i must say the gyoza was delicious, and the california maki was ok since it was like any regular california maki youll see in any japanese restaurant. Me and my gf ordered the katsu don and gyudon, both were good considering its price. Overall it was a good experience, only issue with me about it is that the place was very cramped and the place seemed understaffed. But the service was really good, it was just a little hard to catch the attention of the servers.

3 words: 90 peso Gyoza (6 pieces). Unbelievable value. This place has no ambiance whatsoever but I gave it 5 stars for the quality of the food and the value for money. 9 of us ate here for 2500 php and we were stuffed to the gills. We absolutely loved the place. If you are in the Sucat area it is worth a try.

Food - ok
Price - ok
Space - cramped
Service - seemed undermanned.

Go for the food but best to go in small groups and no small children.

Finally tried this authentic Japanese Restaurant. And it is definitely worth the long wait.

We went there Saturday night and we were just lucky we were able to find a parking slot since it is jampacked as usual.

We were with our 4 month old son and though the place is not that good, it is well ventilated. The place seems an old house which was just filled with tables and chairs for customers.

The food is just GREAT and very much affordable we were very surprised! We just paid not more than P1000 for all the dishes in the picture.

We had gyoza, kani salad, Ebi Tempura, california maki, tonkatsu, gohan and their Japanase skewers. Everything was very good! Especially their sauces. They taste like we were in Japan.

Will definitely go back.

Price wise and quality wise one of the best hole in the wall Japanese restaurants in BF. The place is a bit small and is packed usually during peak hours (dinner time) and weekends. They have a wide variety of Japanese dishes from Sushis to Cold Sobas.

After reading looloo reviews, I found an opportunity to try this place out last Monday. Everybody was spot on when they said that this place looks like a s_!thole. LOL
I got the salmon sashimi, chahan, miso soup, tempura and tekka maki. Di ako gutom, mejo lang.128516 Anyway, salmon was fresh but it's smaller than what is typically served in Japanese restos. Miso soup was chunky which I liked but the broth could be stronger. Tempura was ok but texture ia differrent from your average Japanese tempura. Tekka maki took me by surprise. Too much wasabi in it! LOL My nostrils flared and my nasal passages cleared! Haha! My quest for good japanese food that could rival my love affair with Makati's Nihonbashitei continues! Gusto ko authentic...na mura! Hehe. So far, nothing comes close here in the south.

It's a hole in a wall, it's dingy, it's cheap, it's good! Salmon sashimi was cut in bite size pieces. Gyoza dipping sauce had chili oil. Not used to that but it was ok. Grilled mackerel, chicken meat & skin yakitori, and sukiyaki were all ok. When we're in the area craving for Japanese fare & low on cash, this is where we can end up.

This hole in the wall seems fit to be my come back review since I've been gone for sooo long128522

I pass by this restaurant almost everyday, and I always say the same thing "can't they fix the exterior of this crap?!" It literally disturbs me that the place looks like its going to fall apart ( all it needs is some huffin' and puffin')

Then one rainy day we decided to try it. I went in looking for a hard hat just incase the whole thing falls on us.. As we entered I was shocked to see the place packed! Not just full but people actually waiting to be seated. Now this started to intrigue me plus the strange wooden menu on the wall.

The servers where a bit grumpy probably because these had a long shift and by the looks of it , it was still going to be a long day ahead of them.

We have out orders , I got the tempura which was under 200 bucks while my date ordered Katsudon (for ever and ever) we got gyoza and California maki too.
The maki came to be honest it wasn't my type, it was err warm the rice was warm the mango the mayo.... So it tasted pretty weird for me he on the other hand didn't seem to mind the off temperature and began digging in.
I waited for my gyoza.
It was worth it, it was hot and crispy on the outside while delicate and smooth on the inside. Perfect balance of salty, sweet with a tinge of tart from the sauce yummmmm 128522
For me that was the star of our whole meal, the tempura was tiny but it was good worth it for the price.
The Katsudon according to him was good too.

So I take back what I said about the place looking like crap.. The old facade gives it that rustic feel and they shouldn't change a thing..

This place look deceiving in the outside because it looks like a worn out old house.. But once you have tried their japanese dishes for sure you'll come back.. Some of my fave is the sukiyaki, ingen and ox tongue.. :D

Authentic and affordable japanese food. Loved their Sukiyaki and Tempura. Although the place was small beacuse of its a "home converted into a restaurant". Also limited parking especially during weekends.

This hole in the wall restaurant is a must try! When entering BF from Lopez, it's at the left. Honestly, you won't think anything of it from the outside but damn, if you're looking for authentic Japanese, this is the place to go. I fell in love with my first try of their Mori Soba which is actually placed on top of ice. It's for an acquired taste but I LOVE IT. We also had Futo Maki and Gyoza. I'll be back soon, for sure!

Btw, the sign they use is still the old name of the place Bento Ya.

Please go. I beg you. Appreciate this little restaurant, you won't be disappointed. Thanks to Hannah for introducing me to this place.

Bento-ya is one of those places that you might actually miss if you haven't heard of how great their food is. It is tucked away with only a small discrete signboard. I got a bit lost the first time I went here to meet a few friends and I had to turn back. Malalagpasan mo talaga!

We only tried their California Maki and Wasabi roll. The California Maki was really good. It was a mouthful.128076They didn't scrimp the ingredients used in making the maki. I will recommend that others try this. 10084 The wasabi roll well, I'm not sure if it is really called a Wasabi roll. Hahaha 128514I only called it that because the moment I popped it in my mouth the strong and overpowering flavor of wasabi fills my nostrils and caused my eyes to tear up. I felt the cook is being very sneaky. Or maybe he/ she just placed a bit too much wasabi. I'm not buying this again. 128078

The experience was ok. Place was a bit cramped and not so clean. The food is promising though. I will definitely go back and try the other rolls. Maybe I'd give them a higher score by then. All in all, it's a sulit Japanese hangout. 128522Do not expect too much on the ambience though the place does remind me of old ramen houses shown in Japanese anime.

PS No more sneaky sushi please.
